  • @WurlWideHustla she actually wanted her song 10 seconds to sound like that, she wrote it the record company ain't tell her to do it. she said she sang it almost above her range because she wanted it to sound like she was in pain & at her breaking point. she said she know it sounds like she screaming but that's how it's supposed to be.

  • this has that erykah badu twist to it..i think i actually like her singing this way a little bit more then the rest of the way she usually sings..

  • it just all gets so boring. it lacks musical creativity at times.

  • I agree with justkidding45...i like this style of music better, but you know she had to do what the music industry wanted her to do to make her more marketable for the target audience, but she will be in the game long enough to be able to start doin her own thing...you know artists have very little say for their debut album.

  • Actually Jazmine wrote her ENTIRE first album. She had plenty of control over this album because she did almost everything other then Producing. She is just extremely versatile and im sure she enjoys doing all types of music..and thats obvious.

  • Jazzy is one of the most versatile singers the industry has seen in a long time, and that is what is going to keep her around..

  • and above that her voice quality is amazing

and her skill (which ties into versatility) & technique is outstanding.

  • Damn, wish I had hair to be braided! LOL! Play in my HAYYAAAR Jaz! lol!

  • Greatness!!!!!!

  • This Track Is Hott!

  • Jazmine ur doing a great job....we love here in london too:-) i love the neo soul side of u betta, but overall ur breathtaking

  • i love that beat its old

  • great stuff.

  • I remember when she song this song at the lacklilly she was powerful at 15 and 16 years old and look at her now. I am pround to see she made it.

  • Look for her on youtube singing in "The Wiz" at 11yrs...immaculate!

  • yes. how can you out sing whitneys and mariah's @ 11?

  • anythings possible.. and People say Whitney and MAriah like they are the only two ppl who can blow... ive heard Dozens of ppl who can take both whitney and mariah...theres ALOT of talented ppl we havent heard yet

  • i like this side of jazzy more. she's the coldest out there. i love anything she does

  • i'm feeling u jaz

  • I wish for love, I wish for true love. I wish for Treasure's true love & happiness & safety.

  • she was only 16 when she made this song! in 1 of her interviews she stated dat she didn't like reliving her old songs and that she's not a neo soul artist . and dat she considers herself a strictly r&B artist. it's not watered down it's the fact it's watered down, that's the type of music she was forced to do back then especially growing up in philly where neo soul is big! And now she's doin the music she really wants to do now after being neo soul for so long and not wanting 2.

  • do you know if the interview your referring to where jazzy made those claims is up on youtube? It's just hard for me to believe she truly doesn't enjoy the impact of this music and actually prefers the bullshit that's mainstream...

  • what impact does it have that mainstream doesn't. music shouldnt always be earthy .

  • this style of music not only demonstrates her vocal ability on various scales, the lyrical content is so much more positive. If you notice the lyrical diffrence from this genre versus that on her CD...vastly different. Not busting out windows, not upset that she can't love, not raped (listen to her snippet on KISS's CD).

  • jazzmine tu me fe kiffé

  • this sounds beautiful i love it soul and jazz needs to be brought back it appeals to listeners she does kind of remind me of jill scott

  • amazing!!!! i love it! i wish she would do more music with the soul and depth that's missing in music today...

  • Just discovered Jazmine in the UK. What inspiration! Sick of same old same old "urban" commercial stuff loving this jazz influence. Proper vocalist and beautiful character, real feeling in her voice. Amazing talent. Reminds me of Jill Scott a Little. Just amazing. Gonna go out and buy the album. :-)

  • Glad u like her! ;D

  • Fatin and Aja from Kindred the Family Sounl are on the bk vocals....straight killin!!!!

  • OMG!! YES!!! They need 2 do some more work 2gether

  • She's fuckin up with this R & B trash.. THIS is the way I wanna hear her sing always... she has such a strong jazz and soul technique... Lions and Tigers and Bears aint cuttin it. She needs to keep it soulful. Love this song.

  • I love this song this truly shows that Miss Sullivan is a true vocalist which is rare these days i love this sister and i will continue to listen her music that touches the soul thanks Jazz!

  • this song is the breath of neo-soul...i really love this track from the band to the background vocals and of course Jasmines soulful voice

  • This is the first song I ever heard her sing I fell in love with her music ever since

  • i luuuvv this song! x

  • I love this song! Where can I find it.

  • i freakin luv this song this deff. needs to be on her cd

  • Why wasn't this on her cd? I love this song!

  • does anyone know how i can download this song???

  • she looks like nothing like she does now did she lose alot of weight or something

  • TheCool170: Are you trying to say, she looks different from when she was younger, well don't we all... It's called maturity ( growing up ) to be that even more beautiful young woman she always been.

  • this shoulda been on her album...

  • this chick can blow. speechless

  • my new favorite song. all i can say is... MAD TALENT.

  • Omg I love this!!! It's so soul, neosoul...go head mama!

  • I love this women...she is a talent and she better win one of them grammy's!!!!

  • Philly All Day ( Strawberry Mansion )

5 Grammy Nominations Jazzy, If you don't walk home with at least 3 of those Grammy's....

Then it will be a SAD day in music history, SMH!

  • dont be surprised if she dont win atleast one. remember India Arie had 8 and she didnt get 1.

Jazmine had one of the best cds that came out last year and even vets in the game couldnt touch her cd. but in the industry its a popularity contest, its not about talent no more.

  • True True, I blame it on the media white washing the black young community... Most of these kids, young folks are so lost to whats going on with these MTV artist.

And most of them are doing R&B and getting praise for doing so. SMH!

They're also caught in the top 5 black artist like Beyonce, Rihanna, Ciara, Neyo, etc etc

Most but not all, don't give the quality singers out here a chance.

  • and out of all the aritst youve named, i never purchased none of their music before. not to say i dont like some of their music but theres no substance in nothing they do to me. i dont spend my money of whats hot at the moment. Theres numerous artist out who dont get no play because of all of this watered down music. I just hope Jazmine continue to make great music and not fall into the same category as those you mentioned.

  • I feel you. But, don't make the mistake of thinking just because they're "what's hot" currently that their music isn't good. Personally I like SOME of Ne-Yo's Music & SOME of Ciara, and a little of Rihanna. The thing is most of their singles suck, but the some of the song's on their albums feed my spiritual appetite. Hear me out, don't group all of the today's young, I'm 15 and I see where your coming from.

  • majority of the music thats whats hot not will not be relevant in years to come. thats why i dont consider none of the artist youve mentioned my cup of tea. none of their music is of substance to me. ive never purchased none of their music and i never will. i love music and i will support any artist that have something to say, something of substance and not booty shaking or trying to be a fake michael jackson. im older than you so i knew we wouldnt like the same type music but i do understand u

  • you are sooo right!

    (im late) lol

  • i have a video that i juss put on youtube..im singin Jazmine Sullivan braid your hair check it out and leave comments! thanx by the way the mic was messed up so try 2 avoid da sound of it! thanx again!!

  • congrats to jaz for locking down five grammy noms on her first album. this chic is bad. she's got a long and wonderful career ahead of her and I expect nothing but great things from her. even "queen" bee gave her props listing her single "Need U Bad" as one of her picks on her celebrity playlist on iTunes. keep blessing us with that wonderful voice of yours, jaz

  • I love her voice...

    so dope!

  • Jazmine is very talented and I wish her great sucess in the future!! Keep up the great work girl

  • This rocks!!! Where can I get this

  • In my opinion SHE IS JAZMIN SULLIVAN but she does remind me of Lauryn Hill but nevertheless Jazimin is still super original and I just LOVE her voice she has a unique syle thats not in R&B as much but the style she sings is in alot of contemporary Gospel Music so if you are interested in this style type or style of singing check out people such as Kim Burrell, Lisa McClendon, Nikki Ross, Kierra Kiki Sheard, and through these you will find more artist like it!

  • Damn, she make a nigga want to have braids. Can she make a song about shaving your head.

  • LMBAO!

  • Ha ha ha!!!! that was funny :D

  • Why assume a slave insult? Many have shed their blood not to be called N**ga. You are worth more than that.

  • nice very nice !!!! love it

  • Jazmine is Jazmine she aint tryna be like nobody else!!! and im pretty sure dat she wouldnt want mufuqaz sayin dat somebody's better than her or for that matter sayin dat she is better than people who payed da way!

  • this is ear candy

  • compliments,,,,,,,, compliments,,,,jazmine is truly a singer u guys can compare all u want she has all of the old soul she needs and it will carry her very far........love you girl

  • WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SOULFUL VOICE!!

  • xxx naughty xxx

    soooo nice cg

  • I swear lol ppl is so funny SHE IS JASMINE SULLIVAN end of story..everytime somebody comes out everybody feels da need to compare them to another its kinda annoying ya diig instead of sayin who is better just say wow jasmine sounds like she was inspired by lauren hill

  • Its JaZmine Sullivan with a "Z"....people always spell her name wrong.lol

  • well i think as much as lauren has her swagg and all, i think u cant say either is better YET jazmine has not been arouns at this height in the music industry for all that long. after sum time u can determine that. lauyn iz a ledgend but jazmine is just getting started to becum one as well

  • only similarity to lauryn is a touch of the tonality really.....like others have mentioned...i hear the kim, clark, stevie wonder influence much more....lauryn has never been as technically advanced as jazmine vocally....but she is a beast and i respect her....no comparing them tho

  • True, true.

I think Lauryn is more of a lyrical legend, you know writing poetry and raps and expressing her words with grace and skill. Jazmine Sullivan is excellent too, she's more of a vocalist. I'm really excited about what the future holds for her!

  • Lauryn Hill is more hip hop, Jazmine Sullivan reminds me of older stars from the 60's and shit. Her and Lauryn Hill are waaaay different.

  • I would have to agree with npsddd. However, I will say this there is always gonna be a new artist that is compared to someone that is already in the game. It kind of sucks, but as long as we are willing to accept that they are CLEARLY not the same everybody will be happy lol.

  • Soulfulone78, you are correct. Jasmine sounds identical to jazz/gospel singer Kim Burrell, but Jasmine probably become much more popular because she is singing more main stream music. She has truly be influenced by Kim though.

  • she is influenced by kim. she said in a "home" video that she felt kim was one of the artists she could relate to vocally because of the the type of voices they have; as well as some other folks.

  • They are both talented and they both offer something beautiful to this music. Neither is better than the other and there is room in the music industry for both of them. No one can say that the either Jazmine or Lauren doesn't have talent. They are both fabulous in their own right. Let them both shine!!!!!

  • Everybody is comparing Jazmine to Lauryn Hill. Yes there are some similarites...but the closest comparison would be to GOSPEL SINGER ...KIM BURRELL!!! Check her out on youtube and you will be floored. She is defintiely an influence to Jazz...Kim Burrell and The Clark Sisters. Its funny how when a voice like hers..or Faith Evans (who sounds identical to Karen Clark Sheard) become mainstream..most people think its such an original. Check out Jaz really sounds like Ms. Kim Burrell!!!

  • HELL YEAH SHE SURE DOES!!
