This is just a cheap replacement. They'll never be able to reproduce the same sound without all the mental anguish and pain that came from Layne's continued drug use and depression. Their best music came from their depression, alcoholism, and drug addictions. Truly painful stuff. To call this album anything as near as good as 'their' old stuff was is just pissing on Layne's corpse. Good job Cantrell, fucking Nickelback horse-shit sellout.

I can assure you this that what you hear is no cheap replacement for anyone. This album is just one in a series of other albums,  that you know nothing of, recording the anger, pain, anguish and most importantly the life of myself as well as others. Listen to the start, 'He wishes he wasn't hear anymore" then me smashing things in here.

In a band it takes individuals members to make the whole entity great like it did with the Beatles. Heres my 2 cents. The album sounds great. I'm glad the guys are back to making music. However, to me, its not Alice in Chains. With only half the original members and a complete different vibe/style, this is a totally different band to me. I only wish they went with another name for the band. It would of polarized less fans. The people who like it anyways would listen and the people against the revival wouldn't care because it'd be a different name. But what's done is done and I'm okay with it.

This has all the right ingredients you need for a hard edge AiC song, it's incredible that they can stay so true to themselves after all these years and losing such a vital member.
