  • 5:15...How about a nice big cup of shut the fuck up

  • I met Ladd on stage. when he made his first movie debut. This Gun for Hire. He has a handsome face, and great voice, but I was surprised at his height. He is 5'6" and his feet looked do tiny. They cast Veronica Lake a gf because she was 5' tall and weighed 96 #

She did not overpower his size. What happened to her? She worked as a waitress in Hollywood. She didn't make the big time.

  • The Blue Dahlia is a top notch movie. Film Noir's Golden Age.

  • Copyright has expired on many movies. Copyright used to be for only a quarter of a century, renewable once. Then Disney was about to lose the copyright on Mickey Mouse so Disney bought off the US Congress and had copyright law alerted to favor Disney.

  • mpO - Yes that works quite effectively as well.

I don't mind doing detective work in this case.

  • The initials are there for a good reason!

You set it up that way and the law dogs have a tough time finding the title and removing it!

    Live with it.

  • @vawlkee51 another technique i've seen is the uploader writes the title backwards on another site

  • Good thing about the initials, finally I can see a full movie with Veronica Lake. Is so difficult to find her's movies. Thank you so much.

  • @youfilha See, you understand.

  • The initials can help disguise a full movie, some times. Yes it can be frustrating but if it's a wonderful film, it sorta makes it worth it : - )

  • Alan Ladd.....Alan Alda......hmmmm. ;])

  • What's with all the initials for the titles? They are really a lot of trouble!

  • @mvies77

I assume people here are using them for their uploaded movies to keep them from being caught in a copyright infringement. Seems to be working because I haven't yet seen a movie with "initials" being taken down for infringement! I hate seeing movies removed once they've been uploaded. Bummer to the max, daddy-o!

  • @JubalCalif Thanks for the info. I take it all back. Anything to keep the movies coming!

  • @mvies77

My pleasure! I too agree to anything that will keep those classic flicks of yesteryear here at youtube for us to enjoy! Cheers, mate !!! :-)

  • @JubalCalif But then this very comment does point out that fact loud and clear doesn't it?

  • @kittyscratchesboo

    Indeed.

  • @mvies77 Oh brother!! 8-((( Just read the comments above before they take all the damned movies down.

  • @kittyscratchesboo I did read them. If you will note the above comments yourself you will see that I took it back after Jubal explained it was for copyright infringement. I also stated that all that mattered was keeping the movies on. I do not get your comment to me. If you would just read all of the comments and answers. So calm down. I am on the movie side. Jubal was very nice about it. it would be nice to have more nice people like Jubal!

  • These initials for movie titles are a pain in the "A"!!!!!

  • @9675775

I agree- but it helps in away that copyright has a harder time to find and delete these classics

  • @9675775 No, initials are a FAVOR to us or else we can forget watching anything at all. People perish for a lack of knowledge. And others drop dead for not trying. There IS CLEVER a reason for this & we should just say thank you for taking the time to do this & leave it at that, really.

  • COOL FILM!

  • beware the nicole valentines of this world - the analwhip ain't worth it .

  • I remember this Helen actress from an episode of the Andy Griffith Show. She played con artist out to rip off Floyd the barber.

  • Is it just a notion or did movies and their classic titles mean more to people in those days? Maybe it was the lack of competition from tv, dvds etc. and a night at the movies was more of an event.

  • @deriter64 You got it. My dad said that the movies in these times got everything: the talent, the audiences.

  • Classic film noir. Thanks for uploading.

  • She's an idiot. Chasing that man when she's married to Alan Ladd.

  • @rcbpiccolo ...she's not married to Alan ladd she is married to Howard Desilva

  • Noir = Alan Ladd comes home from the war and finds his wife ....

  • @notAbba : Yeah. The REAL wars have little to do with foreign battlefields...... ;/

  • ward go home to the beav.

  • Riley is cool even when he's not in the Life of Riley. Where's Babs?

  • @9:40 Don't slam the door! This is just a movie set!

  • With a stunning Doris Dawling!

  • This may not be the best Noir but it is honest about portraying the effect of fighting on men, what sad things can happen at home and when the men come home.

  • Beavers dad is in this film, Hugh Beaumont. Thanks Starletfatale.

  • @cinerama62 Cool

  • thankyou for posting!

  • remember film noir formula is a style and the main characters dreamlike perceptions of events...if it seems strange to the veteran it is meant to raise his killing anger...jealousy and hatred!...he's now a ticking time bomb...hes no longer a hero he's a loose cannon who can become a cold hearted killer!

  • these film noir movies are way better if you drink jack daniels whiskey followed by a coke-cola chaser!...(military men detest rich civillians milk-toasts who have been fucking their wives from 1942-1945!)

  • so what if it's a silly movie? i love veronica lake!

  • Finally saw this after long anticipation, and was very disappointed by it. Uninteresting characters, dumb conclusion. Alan Ladd violent at the drop of a hat and unappealing. Loved it that they left out his height when describing him as wanted man! Unlike Cagney, he wears his shortyness on his ego. Ha!!!

  • Love the theme tune.

  • Am in Brazil and spoke to my Mom in the states who told me Blue Dahlia was showing there ae midnight. Decided to gamble on finding it for my viewing on YouTube since this is one of my favorite noirs. Thanks for upload StarletFatale. I owe you!!!

  • Thank you, thank you!

  • One of my favorite movies of the 40's and all time favorite actress.

  • Thanks for the upload.
