  • It's a shame record companies don't take chances on bands like this no more. It's become a computer cut-and-paste industry....same gimmicks, same sounds.

  • This is how they did it back in the days of the Funkopuss, for nothing is good unless you play with it. Poo-poo-pee-DOO!

  • my face just melted :0

  • real funk!!!No funk carioca Rio de Janeiro Brasil.sucks

  • Doesn't get much funkier than this

  • this music is one of the reasons basketball had more love in the day than today....Rebound Records baby!! Young and Company, Secret Weapon, Parliament, Slave, Curtis Blow and Dunk on you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love this stuff..........wurl be freeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • that basssssss!!!!!!

  • NOW THATS A PARTY!!!!

  • THANK you!

  • oUTTA sIGHT @ SKATE CITY!! 78' Funk them Wheels - hells yeah baby.

  • You know what ? For me P-Funk shot the Funk in space so that nobody can touch it except P-Funk themselves. There is no genre funk, there is just P-Funk... and some wannabe-funk down on our earth...

  • Sir nose giggin at 2:30 is so raw .... wow!!! what happened to the World? so glad I was there back then when this song new and everyday people just kickin it, partying, total free-form, amazing time

  • Does anyone know if that is Billy Mims playing the bass?

  • @TheRedbull101 It's Rodney "Skeet" Curtis on bass

  • After seeing what a fucked-up dancer Sir Nose is, I kinda wish Star Child never hit him with the Bop Gun.

And damn! What is up with that crazy-ass bass?? Was that Boots??

  • All that's missing is a funky ball o' tits from Outer Space.

  • I'm sorry, but Parliament is too much for me to handle. They're just too wild for me. I'll stick to Prince and The Revolution, Earth Wind and Fire, and War thank you very much.

  • @kja427 all good bands....where do you think they stole from?

  • right on

  • @kja427-I respect your honesty, but your comment is still somewhat unfortunate.

  • Funkadelic!

  • Awesome - they brought the funk to Houston in April 1978 !! - I was born exactly 2 weeks after this show in the fine city of H-town. Even though my mom was not at this show maybe Bootsy's Bass penetrated the earth and walls of this city and the rhythm found it's way into the womb makin me ready to roll.

  • Bootsy Collins..! Gawd ya gotta love that bass.. XD

  • @StabbyMcButterPants I agree but the bassplayer in this video isn't Bootsy but Rodney 'Skeet' Curtis

  • WHERE THE HELL IS MY FLASHLIGHT? OHHH BOBBLE HERE IT IS

  • Mad funky and a true show.Parliment/Funkadelic straight killed it.

  • To find the man who contributed to the funk, go on Netfix, find the film "STRANGER Bernie Worrell on Earth". He is brilliant! When I realized he played with Parliment and The Talking Heads (and others) it blew my mind. The fact that he is little known is a crying shame!

  • Welcome to the mothership connection, home of extra terrestial funk, uncut funk, above parrrrrrrrrr

  • @huggybear271 oops forget to put the p funk bit lol

  • My pops took me to the Parliament/ Funkadelic concert in LA, when i was about 8 and i still remember that S%*t. The Mothership came down real spit!!!! I wish my son could see that s%*t, Even though he's two.... i'm still lettin him know about Sir nose. I'm from Dena...AM Stereo 1580 KDAY Nia!!!!!!

  • God DAMN that is one nasty ass groove.

  • George Clinton is the funkin king of FUNK!!!

  • Funk... The only word in the dictionary that requires one to use the word to define the word... Funky George, Funky indeed...

  • wow...I used to see the mothership on commercials advertising the album.. but to actually witness its landing & the emerging of Dr. Funkenstein himself... well I must say I knew that there was a good reason that the internet was created. I can smell the funk comin out the speakers.

  • Those Brides are sexy singers.

  • WoW. THE BEST. Too funky

  • I'm 19 years old. I learned to play the guitar by listenening to this group. I WANNA PLAY WITH THEM SO FUNKIN BAD!

  • Somewhere, in Plainfield, New Jersey...the Mothership waits in a secured location waiting for the funk to begin anew.

  • @SloreTactician lol! but righteous

  • HOUSTON

  • Alice Cooper is the original "showman" of rock and roll George Clinton is the original "showman" of funk!

  • I am PISSED! As much as I love Bootsy on the bass, there is no substitute for Bernie Worrell and his Minimoogs.

  • Outside of The Godfather himself, there is no Funk deeper than this. Dr. Funkenstein and the Parliament/Funkadelic Army took us thirty thousand leagues under the earth to uncover the rawest, sweatiest funk this side of Neptune. Y'all Funk THEE!!!

  • Love your description! "Dr. Funkenstein and Starchild collaborate to make Sir Nose dance with the Bop Gun while performing their smash hit, "Flash Light."

  • They performed for pot? too many to get paid! lol

  • Funk is unfortunately an Endangered Species. Where did I put that bop gun?

  • @ambrosiasmama you need to familiarize yourself with rage! by a band called 'lettuce'

it'd be a favor to yourself

  • Nice!!

  • Lady's and gentlemen, meet The Funk. Don't be afraid.

  • Only god's chosen could be that talented...look at all those Israelite's on stage =)

  • wish i had some of this and george clinton on my kinetic dance program!!!!!

    yowzer.

  • I saw them back in 93 or 94 and they were just as funky as they were in 78.

  • Wonder if that dude can blow his own nose...

  • I attended four shows back in the day and i love every second that i was there. Much Love and no fights or calling other out of our names. Music that will go down in history as the good times and party"s time. Got to LOVE it.

  • you know the only way you could put together a stage show like this one, you had to be on some really good drugs.

  • Ypsilanti Michigan in the house!

  • i swear i saw a nigga wit a diaper on

  • @tasfresh07 you really did.

  • how can one bring pimpness and funkness together to make them look so good together

  • 17 people don't have a little light under the sun....

  • Does anyone know of any footage with george clinton play the guitar? i heard he can play some. im sure hes not amazing at it but i would love to see him play it!!

  • @skizmsucks23

i dont know if its true r not but i saw on a PFunk Message Board, that George cant play anything other than the radio and he can beat his meat.

  • @OrgenaII The verdict is out whether Clinton is a noteworthy instrumentalist. The only thing I ever saw was some video of Maggot Brain from the 80's and he was playing keys on the intro. Obviously he is a musical genius with the vocal harmonies he has created. I recon he was too busy being a funk genius and songwriter to bother practicing an instrument. I mean why should he given the talent he had around him?

  • @OrgenaII thats because he is a singer and composer. any album will say that.

  • Sir Nose! Destroy him with thine bop gun!

  • FLASHLIGHT! NEON LIGHT!

  • real MUSIC -real ARTIST -real FUNK !!! R-I-P !!!

  • Funk is its own reward. Would you trade your funk . . . for this. The original Sir Nosed'voidofunk! Stank bass@ 3:39.

  • THEY TOOK US TO THE FUTURE!

  • Amazing,

    That bass is just MEAN

  • @Voodoo66Chile Thank Bootsy Collins for that

  • Glenn Goins had already died before this performance....you can noticed the lack of superior vocals, as Glenn was the backbone of the group.....I was at this concert, a 17year old kid at the time. It wasnt the same without Glenn.....This performance was at the then Summit arena...later renamed the Compaq center

  • @TheBigDisplay NOW IT'S NAMED LAKEWOOD CHURCH! PASTOR JOEL OSTEEN!

  • @TheBigDisplay-Actually, Glenn passed at the end of July 1978. This performance is from 4/13/78.

  • dear god that wonderful growling mess of a bass!!!!!!!

  • im havin a funk overdose!!!!!

  • Its a beautiful thang! Wn Clinton joined GURUFISH "Pimp St." onstage for a surprize guesting it was out-Funkin-rageous! too cool.

  • CAN SOMEONE PLEASE START A CHURCH OF PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC ALREADY??? waaaayyyyy cooler then scientology.

  • THEY ARE OUT OF THEIR FUNKING MINDS

  • Amazing song, but what made them think that those costumes were a good idea...

  • i still dont think that's Nate Jones on drums. aint that him standing next to the drums @ 2:53 with the cape, tambourine and the funny thing on him head?

  • Comment removed

  • You are correct. Nate didn't start out the song on the drums but he did finish. Check out part II of this post.

  • You are correct. Nate didn't start out the song on the drums but he did finish. Check out part II of this post. Actually the switch was made in this post. The bottom line is that he did paly the drums in this set.

  • @s4ujxm

yea, i think Nate Jones get on @ 4:48, when George points to the drums. but the beat never stops.

    Thanx

  • @s4ujxm

so, who is the guy playin drums at the beginning? i just saw a clip from the Landover 78 show, and i think the same guy was playin bass on Cosmic Slop (may hav been Boogie)?

  • This concert was the bomb! I remember them playing at the Omni in Atlanta and coming down from the ceiling in the spaceship!

  • Super awesome. I love it!

  • Woah!! Listen to Bootsy OverDrive that Bassline into distortion. Bro you must of had a huge rig!! Priiiiiimo!!

  • And please dont give me any ugly comments like I don't know what Im talkin about. Im a 70s kid who loves Funk/Soul 1st and Hip-Hop a close second. Try 2 look at it this way...Funk is a artform and style that is created by a painter. Hip-Hop is artform that is created by an artist who specializes in collages. They cut bits and pieces from pre-existing work to make new work. U may like one style more than the other but they are both legitmate art styles and techniques.

  • Check You Tube video (Grandmaster Flash Teaching Class) and that will give you an idea of how hard it is to do. Funk is the father & DNA of Hip-Hop because this is what the DJs spun for the people in the beginnng. I know that there are a lot of nontalented rappers trying to pass themselves as Hip-Hop but don't condem the whole artform. As for rapping, Some of PFunks biggest records had George talkin(rappin) all over them. Rappin is a very Funky way 2 express urself. So pls get off off Hip Hop.

  • As for these so-called Funk purist hating on Hip-Hop, I challenge u to open ur mind a little. DJing which is/was the 1st element of Hip-Hop is the backbone. Those djs took the break of early funk records and created a continuous groove for the people to funk to. That requires skill, touch and timing just like a drummer. If u think its so easy then u try to put 2 records together and try to pull it back to the same exact spot each time to get a steady repeated rhythm. Thats musical skill

  • @phoneke i actually stopped goin to George's shows at one point becuase there was so much hip-hop. i was payin my money to hear the FUNK not to c r hear a 60 plus man - rap. not to even speak about his son and grand daughter rappin for almost a hr.

  • Ive posted this b4 and I have to say that one of the most underrated aspectsof George Clinton's talent is his ability to get the most out of individually talented musicians. He got them to play together to make the most out of their ability. Except maybe for Bootsy, none of the musicians that played with him ever came close individually to challenging the music that they made as a group with his direction. From Eddie, Glenn, Bernie, Fuzzy and others... They never came close.

  • Long live Funk!!!!!!!

  • the funk is

  • When disco died I wish it was manilow and beegee music that died rather than funk. The funk is undergroun so search it out.

  • this guy has a penis for a nose!....GOOD TIMES

  • @AriezBabi89 That penis is Sir Nose D'Voidoffunk, who's too cool to dance.

  • @leftistwestern and cant swim. ohh it feels good

  • @AriezBabi89 you've got it all wrong. the nose is a sure sign of what the penis looks like. draw a slit in the tip of someeone's nose on a poster, or picture. you'll see what i mean. -djQ

  • @AriezBabi89 ...Sir Nose...devoid of funk...LMAO!

  • @AriezBabi89 GEORGE CLINTON WAS SO DEEP. SIR NOSE WAS A DICK HEAD LOL. THAS WHY HE REFUSED TO SWIM

  • make me want to fire up a "J" or for some a "Doobie"

  • Rap didn't kill funk, the hate for disco did. In particular those too stupid to differentiate KICK ASS FUNK and crap disco.
