Guys, apologies for not making any videos but I have been really busy with school. Promise more are coming in the next month. Expect some more defense analysis and also some stuff on the new york knicks!
I agree. Tony Allen is the best perimeter defender in the whole NBA. And he somehow is contagious because all his Grizz teammates play with that intensity with him on the court; hence the big comebacks the Grizz have this season.
@TaylorsInParis You're probly right. Pound for pound tho Tony Allen can make a case. The guy is like 6'3 and isn't really that big, yet he still does a GREAT job on whoever he's guarding. Tony Allen is probly the peskiest defender in the game, but Lebron is the best cause of his size, quickness, and footwork on defense.
@ThaTruth223 i agree whole heartedly. tony is really active and reminds me of mario elie. but sefolosha is an elite wing defender. long arms like michael cooper and bruce bowen before him.
@ThunderBreakdowns Great Vid but speak up I can barely hear you. What about Raja Bell, Shane Battier,Matt Barnes and Artest. Na Tony is better than Artest oh yeah
@hamzaahmed16 Aha i think it is just my cheap mic. Raja bell is good, Shane battier showed his age this season and he got burned on d quite a few times, Matt barnes works hard but isnt as talented as allen and Artest is probably near to the same level as allen in my opinion.
@hamzaahmed16 tony is much quicker and faster than artest which allows him to guard almost every position. Artest..........not so much. His age is starting to show. Not to mention allen is FAR more athletic than him. And his pretty strong too, dont to be fooled by his slim body.
TBH, at their best I'd take Allen over Bowen. Bowen was taller but Tony's better against smaller guards than Bowen ever was and he seems to somehow play a lot taller than his height would suggest. I have no idea how he manages bother Durant and those gumby arms but he does it.
TA can check durnat because durant doesn't have supreme handle to get by him but put him against quick cats like rose, wade, ellis, prime kobe and they will torch him one on one. Just go back and watch the 09 first round series and look at how wade abused him and ray allen throughout that series.
@stephenjacksondag tony is a bit better cuz he can stop the ball from ever even geting to the player hes defending thats the best way to defend dont let them get the ball
@RyanCundiff2 george hill, shane battier, chuck hayes, manu ginobili, charlie bell, shawn marion(when healthy), paul pierce (when motivated), kurt thomas, andrew bogut. all better defenders than tony allen currently in the league. tony allen is just getting shine because of what his team was able to do. he didnt beat the spurs, the grizzles (and the spurs injuries) did. tony allen was chosen over battier on ginobili because battier had to guard his man and whoever zach randolph was guarding,
@JDev82 i couldn't dissagree more, tony allen is definetly the most dedicated defender i've ever seen.
he has an extreme mentality and plays more physical than all of the persons you just mentioned. this is something he has done for a whole season something that is extremely impressive!
you obviously need to watch some more tape and some games so you can see how tony allen plays on the court.
@JDev82 ok for one no way is george hill better who does he defend in the last 2 min? for 2 no center will be better cuz they dont defend anybody athletic like tony allen does, for 3 paul peirce? manu ginobili? based on what stats? they werent in the top ten of steals, and ok zack randolph is an underated defender u idiot, i will agree bruce bowen was the best ever, but right now Tony Allen is the best stats prove it and dont talk bout injuries, Rudy Gay was injuried since the allstar break
@RyanCundiff2 no one said best perimeter defender. also, defensive ability isnt measured by stats. two of the best defenders ever, michael cooper and bruce bowen never led the league in any defensive statistical category.
@JDev82 Ok im talking about defensive stats and yes they did like FG% against, and what they did against the best in the league and Tony Allen right now leads in the FG% against and he set an NBA record in steals per 48 min and held Durant 9the best scorer in the league right now) to 26 points per game for 7 seven games (his lowest average in his post season career)
@JDev82 ok u just wont admit that Tony Allen is the best perimeter defender in the league right now, cuz he is Durant shot 28% when guarded by Tony Allen i mean come on, he is the best in the league right now
Guys, apologies for not making any videos but I have been really busy with school. Promise more are coming in the next month. Expect some more defense analysis and also some stuff on the new york knicks!
