Oh please!!!!! Ossie Davis's performance will make you CRY!! He puts all the others to shame, seriously. Just listened to it on dvd book, his performance is shattering
this one sucks, Danny Glover's version is the best Hands down. this is outdated shit. Why wont somebody post Danny Glovers version of a raisin in the sun.??????
I LOVE this film 2 death!!! I watched this 4 the 10th time a few hours ago on TCM and I just loved it. The grandmother is incredibly strong and takes care of her family, and I truly love and respect that. I wish my mother was like that.
Yeah, there is. He's Beneatha's boyfriend, even though Beneatha likes Asagai more. Her family wants her to date George because he's rich but Beneatha doesn't like him because he's an assimilationist.
when i read the play in high school i was in awe because i didn't know books could be so moving and personal the way this was. the words jumps off the page and captures you and you feel like you are right there in the room with the characters sharing the good times as well as the bad. i never read anything that made me feel that way. when i seen the movie i was like wow it's just like the book never missed a beat. great book and great film. classic.
Check out Danny Glover in a PBS play version of Raisin in the Sun. Oustanding! I think better than Sidney and far better the Sean. Anyway I love my peoples stories on how they got over.
Of course we wont really get over 'til we get to walk the streets of gold. What a day that will be! Luv ya
The orignal one cannot even compare it is absolutly the best the Sean Combs on CANNOT TOUCH THIS VERSION it is absolutly one of my top favorite movies the acting in just aswsome! you will see!!
Soul Plane nor Raisin have anything to do with how far we've fallen. If we stop acting ignorant and just handle our business, we'll be fine. We have to stop blaming other things and people and take responsibility for own actions.
I'll disagree... because black people are only 10% of the population, the images we put on flim/tv/audio are important. If we are nationally known as thugs whose only interests are getting high, welfare, fried food, stealing and shaking our asses, and not learning english in the process... those of us that don't behave that way DO suffer.
Yes that's true but knowing that. African Americans need to stop perpetuating the stereotypes people have of us and work harder, harder then we ever though to show them it's more to us then what you think you know. We can do it. I just think so many people are comfortable with their situation.
