hmm, a 1280 x 1024 res. is greater( pixels rendered ) than 1400 x 900,....it should have lesser framerates than the 1400 x 900,...

DX10.1 allows the game to run with special effects that don't make as much of a performance hit (FPS drop) as standard DX10. 3870 supports DX10.1 but not the 8800GT. The 8800GT is like 10% faster but than again it doesn't support DX10.1. The 3870 has a big performance hit when you put on AA.

If you play on Windows XP the 8800GT will have more muscle, but Vista and DX10.1 give a slight edge to 3870 if you don't turn on AA.

AA destroys the HD3850... it has some kind of problem with it... I have the 256mb... I'm getting a GTX260 or GTX280 in november or HD4870X2 if it drops in price...
