I've been reading the Quran myself and to be honest my opinion would be - boring at best or heap of shit at worst. I don't see how it can possibly help humanity have a better future, its nothing but page after page of black and white rantings or quotes from conversations long forgotten. Individuals need to build their own future. @Standuble well at least you read it. but always remember the Quran is a beautiful piece of litrature in the original Arabic language and far from boring!. it has helped humanity, one of the first few verses was condemning burial of female babies by pagans and it continues to solve modern problems. muslim majority countries have less children who don't know who their father is, less theft, less drink driving problems, less STDs etc than non-muslim majority countries. I can refute many excessively used anti-islam arguments just by pointing out the context of the verse and cross-linking to other verses regarding the same subject. I personally believe the Quran is perfect and needs no updating. No offense intended to my Christian brothers but we know "updating" creates even more sects as people disagree on the "update".

@595o Basically they are supporting information and teachings of the prophet, certain things are not found in the Quran for example HOW to pray. There are some muslims that falsely believe hadiths (Bukhari ones in particular) hold the same authority as the Quran and do not question anything. There are also some muslims that completely reject all hadiths (Quranists) i'm personally in the middle. if a hadith contradicts the Quran its weak to me.
