Thanks...yes, that's the reality of the trail at times. Especially on thru-hike beginning in winter. Began from Georgia February 4 (2001), and the trail looked just like this when I got to Maryland. The White Mountains in New Hampshire were like this too during a severe lightning storm, only the trail was much steeper. All flooded out, was sliding down water chutes/waterfalls.

Ah, I was in Virginia during this rainfall hiking the AT. Nice and deep water.
