Fuck! Why do 22 people like the McTwist/mute comment. A McTwist has got almost nothing to do with the grab!! It is the inversion of the 540 that qualifies it as the McTwist - it changes the dynamic of the 540 totally. Watch Hosoi, McGill, Hawk(occasionally), Magnusson for how to completely wire them. A 540 is a 540, a McTwist is an inverted 540. YEah, the mute grab is how it was originally done but it's almost incidental compared to the awesomeness of the invert - especially 25 years ago!!

@osmosisbrown1 I almost agree with you. The McTwist is Mike McGill's inverted 540, but grabbing mute is an integral part (perhaps by virtue of the fact that that was the only way that he did them). To me a McTwist is an inverted 540, grabbed mute.

@haneyenah You've hit the nail on the head... some people are a little confused on the subject... a mute 5 and a mctwist, although similar, are completely different... however it has to be said that the momentum generated from grabbing mute typically causes most mute 5's to become 'Twists overall.

I reckon if anyone has the balls to actually get up there on vert and try a BS 540 mute, they'll find that the 45 degree thing is just how it spins, not some kind of different trick. Ducking your head down to grab mute will just make your BS 540 look upside-down.
