I love 80's hair metal. Its my favorite kind of music. I was born in 90' and thats all i listen to is 80's rock. GnR is my favorite band, and i literally just saw this song on my t.v........and HOLY SHIT!! THIS SONG EXPRESSES WHAT I DO EVERY NIGHT AND DAY. i go to bed when the sun wakes up, and wake up when the sun goes down:)
Slaughter is one of those bands I would have liked a lot better if it had a different vocalist. But this song kicks enoug ass that I can overlook Mark's irritating voice. :)
Mark has always had a killer voice and he always will. They wrote great songs and they still tour! He happens to be a friend of mine so I will always stick up for him. But you seriously must go around with cotton in your ears cuz his voice rocks and he rocks!
@Janet7474 LOL....I remember going to see them a "few" yrs ago and I got a mirgrane, had to absolutely put the cotton in my ears, because I wasn't about to leave and miss a thing...LOL. (btw, the headache was from the heat not the voice....outdoor summer concert). Slaughter will always rock.
Bet the blonde in the black dress is glad she shaved her kitty that day of the vid shoot, or else at 1:29 and 1:37 we'd have know for sure if she was a true blonde or not!! =)
I remember hanging out with Slaughter at 16, lying about my age...they were mad cool, not disgusting dogs like a lot bands from that genre...I miss the late 80's/early 90's!!
All you young people out there want to know what the 80's felt like....bring back this type of music and feel what we felt back then....when concerts were for the fans not money and let me tell you they put on the best shows you'll ever seen!!! Would love to see concerts like that now but don't think it will ever happen again!!! Thank god for youtube and people that cares about bands like this to keep them alive!!! Oh listen to the lyrics it will change you not just slaughter but all hairbands!!
@rickyjshiznit listen to it again, the same thing was done on a section of nothing but a good time and it was also done in a part of rock you like a hurricane. i donn't know what's called it's kind of like a sweeping noise then the pedal hits the bass drum
@LynchSixx1313 I know the sound you're speaking of. It wasn't done with the bass pedal on a normal drum kit. Bass was mic'd up and the soundboard op would add the effect to it. Same thing with the floor toms (or the whole kit for that matter). The exception to this rule being the electronic drums i.e. the kit used by Def Lepp's Rick Allen after he lost his arm. Used to do it w/ my kit backntheday. Some stuff could be triggered by midi too. But thats another complicated subject.
@JimHadar1 thank you for not being an asshole like that other guy, and yeah i've heardt his in so many songs and it hink it sounds awesome, it's even done in strangle hold by ted nugent on the high hat. since my band has no clure how to do this we just have our singer make the noise haha
Spent the yrs 17 - 33 "Up All Night" just cause you did back then. But now I'm still "Up All Night" payin 4 playin back in the day; bones get old. (Damn, gettin old sucks!)
The 80's were so fun. My high school years were from '87-'90. Right smack in the glam metal era. Such good times. Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler said it best..."Cobain had to come along and ruin it all".
I'm only 20 years old and I love this kinda music. The energy, the sound, the hair, the flair, I can't get enough of it. Growing up I listened to mainstream music, but around the time I was 14 I discovered the glorious world of 80's Rock ;) If the youth of America stopped and took the time to listen to music like this, they'd realize how awesome it really is.
@Luke5119 It took you to the age of fourteen to discover the 80's? You must have gotten a computer at 14 then because it has always been here waiting on YOU!
@loreeyb1 Agreed on the awesomeness. My h.s. drumline even used to sing that acapella thing (like last track on the album?) from Slaughter as we'd tick around to starting position for halftime shows. Do-dooo-de-doo-dooo----do-dee-doo-do!
hey tracy it tony and i got to say the hair bands bring my hair on my body to rise , remembering the 80 s and the times we all had you brang a tear to my eye and yes real men cry, if people dont think so listen to simple man you rock darlin
Hey Tim Kelly's Death was not unnoticed. It was on TV, Newspapers, and Magazines when he was tragically taken before his time. He was a awesome guitarist. Also he was very genious to his fans. The few times I met him the one I remember most Slaughter was opening for Alice Cooper outside in the pouring rain. While we had to wait a few hrs for the concert Tim and Blais hung out with me and my wife in the rain. He then signed autographs and took pics with us. I'll never forget him for that.
i seen these guys in greenbay, fasterpussycat opened for slaughter and kiss(when kiss didnt have the makeup on) call the 80's metal whatever you want but it was music and meant something the shit that is played today is nothing compared to this music
@RATTER53 - He died the same day as Falco. His death was barely noticed as a result- such a shame. Imagine dying and being overshadowed by FALCO! That was Tim's legacy.

thank god there where good music back in those days,80s and 90s,because today im a better musician and open minded about music , bands like ratt , white snake, motley ,def leppard and so many many bands NO PRO TOOLS ,, just 1 take all togheter playing and making a good record ,,,im mexican and back in those days music here was cool also,,then pffffff just went away man,,will always remember those days when i was 15,,hooking ,smooking, fuckin arround
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think videos back then really do sexy better than today. The thing seemed to be "Tease 'em! Let 'em use their imaginations!" and now it's "Who needs imagination? Here's the full monty!"
@AeriaGl0ris Yeah I totally agree! Its like back then the videos had girls that would dance and sorta just do a teasing type thing, now its justs naked girls pole dancing and its not as cool.
@AeriaGl0ris - Agreed, the classy sexy look is much more attractive than what most so called "artists" do today. Doro Pesch > Lady Gaga/Brittney Spears.
One of the greatest mixed albums of the day. And yes, they were AWESOME times!! Back when the songs were all about sex, drugs, and rock and roll, and not all this whiny "my mommy hates me and the government sucks" crap!!
HOT!..SOLID GOLD!...one of the best videos ever! Screw today`s mainstream crap!. MSN did a comparison article w/photos on Lady Gaga and Madonna a few weeks back. HOW DARE the reference even be used! Madonna rocked, just like most of the 80`s and early 90`s did! Today`s "music" is an abomination ,when compared to the tunes and videos of this era!
This was released in 1990. I was 14 and loved it then ! Still love it. Thanks to guitar hero games some of the GREAT rock bands are getting popular again. Never got to see Slaughter live but did see Firehouse, Def Leppard, Tesla...some great times !
80's music is just way more better. I feel ppl had a blast listening and rock'n out to metal back then. i wish we still had this type of music i hate music now a
im 16 and i got my hair metal band and we like to wearing like hair metal guys in 80s and early 90s so what its 10000000000000000 times better than stupid grunge things hair metal never realy die and never will
@RATTER53 I would have agreed with you 110% last year Ratter. But now, there IS a new voice that is trying, slowly but surely, to bring back the Glam/Metal Rock vocals of the past, if straight folks will give him a chance. Yes, Adam Lambert. WAIT! Don't hate, lol. Think Rob Halford of Judas Priest (gay) Freddie Mercury etc...so don't dismiss out of hand.Check out TCB (20th Cent. Boy) in Providence, RI 08/17. start at the 3:20 mark, as it's 2 songs.Keep rockin! If you dont like, pass it.Thx.

Back then THEY really watched what was being put on t.v. and censored alot of shit that THEY don't even bother with now days.

@AeriaGl0ris yes, using your imaginations helps, but it's also the long hair .. sexy as hell!
mpca66 1 year ago
@AeriaGl0ris - Agreed, the classy sexy look is much more attractive than what most so called "artists" do today. Doro Pesch > Lady Gaga/Brittney Spears.

One of the greatest mixed albums of the day. And yes, they were AWESOME times!! Back when the songs were all about sex, drugs, and rock and roll, and not all this whiny "my mommy hates me and the government sucks" crap!!

@tbone5587 LOL-Amen to that!

MonstersNightmare 1 year ago
That's the very first big hit by Slaughter. The song made it the # 27 on the Billboard Charts in the summer of 1990.
Thank you EMI AMERICA for posting the vid in H.Q.

@RATTER53 thanks for commenting for me! Todays drum machin, talk box,
hood filled crap is mind rotting to listen to~ All STUDIO creations unlike the old
days when people played the music! LONG Live rock music!
code507 1 year ago 2
