My grandfather Howard N Fuller wrote this song while attending Rutgers. He played football(1871-73) and was one of two members of that team that went to New York City to set in writing the first original rules of collegiate football. Four other colleges each sent two players but Harvard had their own rules and declined to attend, which my grandfather uttered at the committee meeting the infamous words "You can always tell a Harvard man but you can't tell him much". He became a politician in NY
What a horrible version of "On the Banks." I agree that everyone at Rutgers should know the lyrics, but learn the song from someone not trying to mess with the overall style of the song! It's a college song; it should sound upbeat at the very least.
Congratulations on the graduations (especially the most recent). I still have a vivid memory of my day on Vorhees Mall in a cap and gown even though it was over 30 years ago.

Yuck.
And it's "sing-along," not "sing-a-long".
