  • There have been some great guitar players ... performers ... but I have seen none like Tommy. I could make a long list of the players I absolutely love but Tommy's at the top and likely always will be. But then again, he's been playing since he was 4 and perfoming since 7. So he should be this good.

  • Geez, there is always someone like "TPapania" putting the boot in. Just can't sit back and enjoy the talent of others. He even speaks ill of the dead (Steve Irwin). What's the matter, mummy didn't pay you enough attention when you were a little fella. How about putting a video up of yourself. Love to see your 40 years of pro guitar playing talent. Ummmm, just realised. Maybe someone is a little bit jealous of the success of others.

  • Saw Tommy live last week for first time. WOW!

I admit that saying which guitarist is the "best" is very subjective (and actually quite meaningless), but Tommy has to be on the short list. He really is a prodigy.

  • lol buddy let me tell you a little story. As a kid tommy and his brother would play a game, they would sit back to back with guitars, and either one would play a note or chord and the other one would guess what note or chord and which fret and position it was in.

he is not just a musician he is a maestro of the guitar.

    SO STFU

  • that guy is just jealous ... 40 years pro my ass

  • hehe:) being someone you talk about doesntbring you feelings, which tommy sends around. reading music can improve your kind of technique but doesnt make you 'anybody'. it's just ability. but in your way of thinking : so whaT?! i can switch the arguments: so what you can read the music when you cant play it...=] have a nice day and i wish you deeper heart

  • he has been the best guitar player in the world, does that not count!! and can you play a song you just heard? and I have been backsatge with him and he plays song he has heard with out notes... :(

  • @TPapania

You might want to do a little more research on Tommy before discounting his musicianship.

  • He doesn't read notes, but he reads chords.

  • ちょ・・・これすごすぎますね!

    トミーさんの他の動画はいろいろありますが

    これが一番キレてるように思います

    最高!

  • i was there and it was awesome! do you know the name of the first song he played at the gig? please reply if so! :)

  • thats speed

  • 感動\(▼o▼)/

  • Wow... That was soooo good. :|

    <3 Tommy

  • can you send the tab of this version ??? :D LOOOOOOOL especially 8:10 - 8:25 LOOOL

    hahaha I LOVE YOU TOMMY!!!!

  • what the fuck are you gonna do with the tab? Eat it to get wiser??

  • do you know what is the joke?

    be quiet

  • aha i didnt understand your irony, i didnt put notice to your LOOOOL

  • I can't helieve how he can make this look so easy, he probably play this in his sleep. there must have been billions of notes of what I just saw. greatest guitar player ever!

  • I saw him live at the House of Blues in Hollywood about a month ago. It was a performance that I'll never forget. His musicianship is awe-inspiring.

  • "musicianship"... lol, nice...

  • @TPapania No disrespect meant. He himself said that he can't match the greats of classical guitar like, say, John Williams... But I think when coming out of his concerts, you feel great, and that's important too right?

  • @TPapania You have not been a pro for 40 years, I would hardly doubt that.

Put up a video of Harp harmonics! I bet you dont even know what Harp harmonics are. Watch him do Somewhere over the rainbow. HEY also listen to what Steve Vai has to say about him on the Center Stage video. You are a amateur if you can even play at all.

  • @punishr36 Thank you for your posting. I am off to a George Benson concert tonight in Sydney Australia. He also cant read music. There is a very big difference between a showman and a muso. Do you know what the difference is?. Just making a guitar sound good making up riffs as you go is not being a muso. If you listen to Tommie play this song at different sites its never the same though still sounds good so what is your point. Must good Musos work behind these up front showman. Enjoy

  • What do you think about Steve Vai?

  • Well he is a showman like so many others

  • Why don't you go listen to John Williams and you will know the difference between a showman and a muso

  • @TPapania So his finger picking isnt as good as yours.

  • @punishr36 You like most on these sites that leave messages never address the facts before you. Even if I had no arm and could not play a guitar, that is not what was and is the issue? You answer my question with a question. That to me only proves you have limited musical knowledge. I asked you what is the diff between a muso and a showman and you reply with a child like question about my finger picking. Why not try and answer my question instead of becoming defensive with me

  • I play Jazz/Gypsy Jazz/Blues and as a younger man I played in a few metal bands and am a pretty good slide player too. I wrote 2 songs for John Hiat and played with Ry Cooder on several occasions. I feel comfortable about my knowledge of music since I am a retired professional. There are thousands like myself that have crested as musicians but enjoy what a player like Tommy can do and also entertain. You sir are a total moron and truly missed the boat! I pity your week musical soul.

  • @punishr36 once again you avoid the question and end in attacking me personally. Anyone can say anything on here about them self. I asked you not once not twice but 3 times a question regarding showmanship and being a good musician. All I can say after reading your replies is you must be an American because I have found they tend to lack understanding of basic questions especially when they are put on the spot. So you have a nice day

  • Also when you say you pity my week musical soul do you mean weak or a 7 day day type of soul as in a week?

  • @punishr36 Don't you mean John Hiatt not Hiat. I don't know about your ability to read music but you sure have issues with English. Maybe you should get some lessons from Tommy Now you go and have a nice Weakend ahahahha my Youtube Buddy

  • English is not my native language. When will you see George Benson, He is excellent. Stanley Jordan, Don Ross. I dont want to argue anymore. Music should not require this negativity and I am sorry for this.

    enjoy the concert.

  • @TPapania I am sorry to make offence. I didnt mean to say bad things about your knowledge of music.

  • @punishr36 Hey just forget it ok but remember we all have opinions and mine is different then yours but you are entitled to have yours the same as I have mine. I have played Jazz Guitar for about 40 years and there are many better players and many worse. I believe that what makes a good musician is discipline and being able to read music. Just because someone does fancy stuff on the guitar doesn't make him a musician in my book. Thats all I was trying to say. Chow for now

  • @TPapania go check this guy and and ask yourself how does your buddy Emmanuel stack up against him? Les Paul I cant seem to get the actual web sit eup so email me at waynrobo@optusnet.com.au and I will send you the site. Also I enjoyed the showmanship of George Benson last night as well

  • Tommy Emmanuel will have a new show in Norway, 4. april 2009 at Oslo Konserthus.

Please rate the videoes of Tommy if you think he is any good.... ;-)

    Cheers, Per.

  • i'll be there :)
