Incredible Job< I really would like to play like you someday :)! I have one question though—at 1:30 and 3:10, when you play the notes really quickly, HOW DO YOU DO THAT?? Do you have any trick on how to play that, cause i just can't seem to get my fingers to move quick enough..
Thank you very much in first of all for the great jazz version of my favorite song and secondly thank you for the clear and understandable tutorial! Good luck!
this is absolutely incredible, the chords and harmonies you play blow my mind away. This video diserves over a million views. i would love to see a rendition of have yourself a merry little christmas for the upcoming holiday season. i can't even imagine what you would do with that song. stunning. PERIOD
bro you are in def a another world of piano to any of the viewers who havnt played piano for 3 or more years with lessons.. i bearly follow you after 5 years of playing
Is there any way you can post the PDF for this song describing the chords, I will buy it if you post it. I see you have the audio but the PDF chord reference sheet will help. You are awesome....
I love your harmonies and thinking on a higher level. Your arranging off the top of your head are up there with some of the best jazz artists I've worked with. Thanks for putting yourself on YouTube to help me reshape my approach to chordal theory!
you are a good teacher and player; I enjoy everything you have posted; however, the link you mentioned for midi file download does not work(takes me to a 'does not exist' page). Is there another address that i can use? I would Love to have the midi file of this. thank you.
know i am asking too much, but please if you can n have time, can i hv the right hd melody notes written out 4 me, either this song or O how i love Jesus, or Misty. Just one will do. Love the song of the 3 songs but cannot get it after listening soooooooooooo many times.
Wangmyan, this was my first attempt at a tutorial, and I didn't have the digital keyboard display that I have in later ones. I may take this one down and replace it sometime in the future. Maybe around Christmas.:-)
Thank you, friend. I spent the last 4 hours learning this song from your tutorial. I am really impressed at your arrangement. You are an exceptional talent. Merry Christmas!
i'm learning this song through your video!! hopefully i'll post it someday xD
one thing that gives me a hard time, is you play really fast on some parts!! so i have to pause it and figure out a bit by myself, and when you change/switch some parts... but nevertheless, great vid!!
nice chords -- I know the feeling ... (been playing jazz piano for 52 years now) -- it's really fun to come up with all those substitutions. Problem is only a few people can really appreciate what you're (we're) doing. I'm going to get a video camera and follow your lead (it's a hobby at this point).
You're a great instructor, and I love your arrangement of "Chestnuts." It's like an Andy Laverne reharmonization. I was wondering if you might impart some basic (with upper extentions) chord voicing/voice leading ideas/exercises, half step slides/approach tones, wedges, et cetera, that would help get the jazz motion going. Thanks!!!
Sir, you together w/ Sir Doug McKenzie have taken out the frustration factor, so present with alot of other Youtube "tutorials". Where the others leave much to be deciphered due to fast & fleeting passages, you have taken the time & effort to explain your ideas. I thank you both for bringing my playin to the next level.
I hope you don't mind me doing a video response - I had this tune in mind to do as a video lesson, and your tutorial is so clear, that I hesitated to post my effort which borrows quite a few ideas from yours.
Nice to hear you speaking on your post. You say you're not very technical?! you're way beyond me LOL! It's great to hear your thoughts and see some detailed technique. Your posts have inspired me to play more after years of not playing.
Great video. I love the crispness of the voicings and the voice leading in the bass line - I've been trying to work on the latter in particular, so it's nice to see what you're doing one step at a time with the tempo down.

Hi, I have been having slight trouble learning this, only because my fingers can't reach any farther than 9 keys (and that's pretty hard to do...)
Is there anything I could do to substitute?
MsTiffsickle 1 year ago
@MsTiffsickle There is nothing wrong with rolling the chords in the left hand. They don't need to be played solid. It's good for stretching :-)
