Great vid except for one thing: what's the deal with the New Orleans Canal Streetcar??? Was the production company pressed for time and plaigarized another video??? The Baltimore Streetcar Museum has recently restored some of Baltimore City's OWN historic trolleys, which would make the line more authentic!!!!
Great idea with one idiotic problem (aside from using replica streetcars that don't run like the originals): Get rid of the boards on the roof, hiding the area around the base of the trolley poles. Original streetcars didn't have them, it's a recent addition by someone who can't stand to see working parts in action--it looks bad. And in any case, why not go with modern trams, like Portland Oregon? What's the advantage of a fake antique that looks fake?
Great idea. The tracks are probably still underneath the pavement, much like they are on just about everyother street, you know the ones that bend your rims and ruin your suspension ? So smart to pave right over the existing tracks with asphalt. They were idiots to get rid of the streetcars in 64' in the first place.
Ilive in Philadelphia, last summer they repaved about four blocks of street, they completely remoed the asphalt from the surface revealing a perfectly preserved trackbed. The belgium brick and the track looked as good as it did when they covered the line over in 1957. Philadelphia had just under a thousand miles of streetcar track at one time. The system was the second largest in the nation. And all that track is what most likely is holding up some of the streets, lol.
It's so nice to have streetcars back. They enhance the attractiveness of the city and make the city cuturally richer. Look at all the cities with trams kept
