  • one of the better videos I have seen. Not sure why but just east to understand. Thanks!

  • mkey

  • Good insturctions, but I wonder what's wing chun about this?

  • great video man! all explanations should be like this, full of details! Im trying this on tomorrow class!

  • I used this tonight on a few people sparring. Worked really well. They weren't used to it. Worked good on much bigger opponents too. Thanks

  • I got a total boner at 4:06 4:09 btw I'm not gay

  • thanks...I think im gonna have to get a submission dummy, so I can drill at home after classes

  • Most basic of passes, but you did such a fantastic job of explaining. Great coaching.

  • yea this guy definitely knows his stuff. This was a great tutorial!

  • Thanks for advice.

  • sir you are my fucking hero

  • thats called crucific.. and its called side mount.. ^_^ just info..

  • it's wrong, it doesn't work this!!!! Study Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or Grappling if you want escape from a closed guard!

    The only "anti-grappling" is the G R A P P L I N G !!!

  • He's using grappling to escape grappling lol What are you talking about??? =P

  • after you shift your weight and bring the knee over

couldnt you also go for a knee bar?

  • @Skatedarkstar4life yes, if you bring your knee across.

  • Soooo informative, great instructional vid!

  • great basics :) very clear and informative,, and useful.

  • Great Vid .

  • I suppose

  • Right, ok.

  • @shurikenxhunterv2 yea sure i'll let you keep geting "Better"

  • good vid man i learned sum stuff i'll try my next sparring time~

  • this is kinda hard to do with my sparring partner cuz he has long legs

  • At 4:57 when you put your knee over his leg,you have to raise your other knee at the same time or he can get the half guard

  • Great video man. I've been having the hardest time with getting out of in no gi jiu jitsu. I'm going try this method :D.

  • Dude to be honest with you @ 5:05 you lost it. You're giving him the opportunity to push you off. The top mount position is a very powerful position, that is... if you simply know what to do next. If this was cage fighting he would have been punching you the whole time and every body tends to freeze up a little when punched in the head and besides @ 5:29 he has his left arm completely free to hit you. (yes i know i see your arm under him but that doesn't do anything, trust me)

  • Yeah but those are going to be complete sad punches compared to his position for punching. He can't even cover up to deflect punches like he would be able to in a mount (mount is still awesome and perhaps easier to get into), but i think this one pays off really well as well, if you get the arm trapped.

  • .....have you ever even rolled before?

this is standard shit lol. there are "opportunities" EVERYWHERE. every technique has a counter, every counter has a counter.

I hate know it alls that know nothing.

  • There were absolutely no Wing Chun concepts in either this or the first video... This is a common way to pass someone's guard and I have seen videos explaining it in less than five minutes, not two videos taking over seven minutes each.

  • thank you for this, is just what i've searched for.

  • Good detail on curving your back "like a ball" applying pressure to break the guard. Great video :)

  • Im goin to try that next class. Thnx for the tip top tips

  • hope it helps you, peace!

  • @RustyFucket me too, we'll see how it goes tomorrow. Thx for the tips!

  • there is a counter for every techinique for every movement and JIU JITSU especially from the bjj crowd is easily COUNTERED by other combination of grappling, striking, pressure points, kicking, biting and gouges including headbutts etc. ONLY CLOSE MINDED IDIOTS believe GROUND FIGHTING ONLY like BJJ arrogantly stick to that non real fighting involves. You have to be able to ADJUST to your opponent and know various counters to anything!

  • this is one of the passes you learn in jiujitsu, the only difference is after the legs separate we push there knee down our out leg (in this case your right leg) and after we push it to the floor slide ours over. other than that its pretty muc hthe same. pretty effective. just be be prepared to base with an arm if the try to do that first sweep on you that he did.

  • good advice, peace!

  • @ 2:08-2:11 where you show your left foot hooked inside the thigh and kick over the right leg to pass. What do you do if the person hooks their leg around your right leg preventing you from moving?

  • there's several things you can do, but to keep it simple, if he hooks your leg, just "pop the hook" by kicking the leg straight out, so you can continue to pass.

  • @ 4:06-4:19

I hope my female partners won't mind...

  • ...=D

  • thanks

  • no problemo

  • im a black belt in karate but now an amature m.m.a fighter, so u can imagine im finding it tough with my ground game, this video has helped give me some more options thanks

  • another George St. Pierre or Machida, nice! keep at it and keep me posted on your fights. peace!

  • he sounds like bobby lee haha

  • ...=P

  • Guys please open your minds. Wing Chun is about fighting with concepts and structure. It doesn´t matter if you are on the floor, flying or swimming. Get out of the form structure and start using wing chun. Listen to all, practice everything and you'll learn a lot. Again Jin Sifu, xié xié. It is a pleasure to see a fighter explainning so clearly, and delightful to see you using Wt concepts so easily in all distances. Please continue, we all learn a lot.

  • thanks for the wonderful comment. take care and peace!

  • With your mouth right next to his throat, why not rip out his jugular with your teeth? Or gouge an eye?

  • you can do anything as long as you have the "proper position" which is what this video is about. how to get from a bad position into a better one which will allow you to do all that striking.

  • bullshit. this shit is not wing chung!!!! its bjj!!! get it straight!!!!

  • you are right, this is BJJ. it can also be Shooto, Sambo, Submission Grappling, etc..that's why i just labeled it "Grappling". Since this is a Wing Chun Channel, i label it Wing Chun - Grappling, and not Wing Chun Grappling.

  • it's teaching grappling using the concepts and principles of Wing Chun so that Wing Chun practitioners understand why grappling works, which tends to get neglected a lot during training.

  • i studied bjj and it's a JOKE. bjj is so limited and stupid, only SPORT minded morons follow it like a DUMMY which you are. A smart fighter learns from DIFFERENT SOURCES of techiniques like other types of grappling and combinations.BJJ is so close minded and stupid, they actually think they can defeat anyone who KNOWS more grappling in the ground and counters and has more weapons including EDGED WEAPONS.keep being brainwashed by the GRACIE FAGGOTS and their pathetic BJJ that don't work in combat

  • If you studied BJJ then you either had a very horrible teacher, or you were a horrible student. You seem to be closed minded yourself because you think there is only one kind of BJJ and style of BJJ or jiu-jitsu in general. Any weapon one person uses, a BJJ or JJ can use as well. Stop hating your life!

  • you are an idiot

  • lol you must have got the shit kicked out of you by a blue belt

  • I think you're the closed minded one. all martial arts are useful against some one or some people. obviously though some less practical like tie chi or wing chun and some inferior to others like teakuando to karate. you've obviously have never "freestyle" fought anyone before because of the way you talk.. bjj is not closed minded. bjj is a modernized form of jap. jujitsu. samurais used it with the reason that punching armor is impractical although not impossible. and that...

  • Instead of punching and kicking citizens they rather take control by getting the person into a lock and have him ask himself wether he wants a broken bone and be disabled or to peacefully surrender.

  • Is that the guy from the Ultimate Fighter? Team UK? Lost to Dent?

  • no.

  • chain punch his nads, thats wc.

  • I like your BJJ lessons but it's strange to me that you label them "wing chun grappling" - why are you so much prouder of your wing chun teacher then your BJJ teacher? Shouldn't you respect them both when you explain to people what you're teaching?

  • it has nothing to do with being prouder of one instructor more than another. i <3 them all!

my channel is primarily geared towards the wing chun community and by teaching them grappling by using wing chun concepts and principles, makes it easier for them to understand it.

  • my goal is to eventually teach every range of combat with a "single point of view" regardless of what martial art i am drawing from. take care and peace!

  • I can dig that, but I think part of passing on your perspective is telling people "this isn't pure X or Y, I had more then one source."

If nothing else, it will stop the 2080s from resembling the 1980s - when people were convinced their teachers were end-all be-all and they didn't need to explore.

  • hey..what's wrong with the 1980's! my mullet haircut wasn't THAT bad. -_o

  • With all do respect sir, I have to ask you. I personally follow a similar set of beliefs concerning gaining a neutral or superior position before using wing chun for striking. However what you're showing from my perspective is 90 percent BJJ. The title of the video says you would show escpapes using wing chun principles. I applaud you for bringing reality to the chun community, however I see very little wing chun. Is it your belief that pure wing chun doesn't have options on the ground?

  • i like your question, nice observation. here's my thoughts...

you are correct in saying that this is BJJ. but i teach it through the "eyes" of a WC practitioner. that way it's easy to understand for anyone who studies WC why the movement works.

IMO these are wing chun concepts and principles, such as "wear the heavy backpack", "attack the centerline", "straight spine", "elbows in", "maintaining a bottom triangle", etc..

  • also take a look at my video "technique vs. movement" which will help you understand my way of thinking.

    take care and peace!

  • changed the title to "closed guard break w/ knee pass" which might help clear up any confusion.

  • i like how that not only you show us the new moves; You also show us that it can be even done in mma. i bet the move you show will be use in UFC. thanks for the video Jin Young.

  • you are correct, this "closed guard pass" is commonly used in MMA competitions.

  • Nice to see a new video, loved it :) You take care bro x

  • thanks!

  • I've done a couple of years of BJJ, and I never got anyone to explain these simple details. It made it really hard for me to pass someone's guard, especially when they were good at breaking posture. This really makes sense, and for me, at least, opens up all the other possible guard passes.

In your experience, do you think this would work well against the rubber guard? Seems like it might...

  • yes, this can be used to break rubber guard and allow you to posture and pass. take care and peace!

  • good BJJ...

  • thanks!

  • Great video! I hope I don't ever get into that position lol, gonna be eating lots of punches before I can get into the position you are showing xD.

Do you know of a way to counter a clinch using the structure?

  • good question, i know several ways to escape a clinch. maybe i can include it into my next video. let me think on that.

  • awesome! this really helps. i've been biased towards striking for so long I didn't go somehwere to study. Now there aren't any schools around me either... so this definitely is better than the books I've been trying to learn from.

  • glad they're helping you out. keep practicing!

  • Jin, I found this video by accident so accept my apologies if this is not based soley on Wing Chun. After you have escaped the guard, are you not playing by the grapplers rules instead of sticking to the principles of Wing Chun? What about his groin, eyes, throat? Please could you explain why you are grappling with him?

    Thanks :)

  • good question. take a look at my video "technique vs. movement" and it will help you understand my way of thinking. peace!

  • good one.

    you make it look simple.

it is helpful to strikers to help them understand a bit of groundworks.

    thanks for posting.

  • as long as you focus on the "concepts and principles" and maintain your structure while not trying to rely on muscle. anyone can do it.

and i agree, all strikers should learn how to escape from bad positions on the ground and pass to better striking positions or stand back up to their feet.

  • All this time, that poor guy smell your garlic breath! =(

  • lol..Bryan's breath is worse than mine! -_o

  • Hehehe nice

  • glad you enjoyed it. take care and peace!
