  • You should take this off youtube

  • Dude why does the album cover have a picture of Tosin on it?

  • @Andrewvv1 You can fuck right off, troll.

  • @Andrewvv1 It's good to see you're not a vacuous asshole of a bigot.

  • this band is genius. i love heavy shit and i also love this. its intelligent music.

  • you know i like this i really do but i thought the whole reason tosin started this thing was too play riffs that he didnt see fitting with animals as leaders material but these riffs are good and would sound great in aal.

  • fuckin weird music lol...but i love tosin's work

  • this pretty much looks like the same artwork from Leprous -Bilateral!

  • @walqc I was just thinking that! :D

  • Sumerian vids everyday!

  • frank zappa if to tosin played guitar for him.

  • Kinda Weak

  • @atown1414tbs its jazz fusion its not supposed to be heavy dumb shit smh

  • And I don't see what's jazzy about this. Sure it has a saxophone, but this is still metal through and through.

  • @LesboPonyArmageddon Yeah, except for all the focus on time signatures, song structure and harmonics. There's that too.

  • @Vossajex ...implying they didn't have that in AAL :V

  • Saw the guy live in Auckland last week, he gave a little demo of this stuff. It's great c:

  • Actually tosin explains why it is different in his interview about TRAM in his interview with metalsucks. It makes sense the way he explains it really.

  • Sumerian is the shiznit.

  • some of the metal heads that follow sumerian bands aren't that wild about progressive jazz fusion, surprised? haha *facepalm

  • this is awesome.its like tosin is hugging my ears

  • you guys only thing its boring because it doesn't have vocals. personally i prefer something different, this is pretty cool imo

  • Veil Of Maya, I The Breather, and T.R.A.M. All in the same day, damn sumerian is on fire!!!

  • insane. i love it.

  • Well. This is my least favorite band with Sumerian records.

  • @pharaohgirgzz its probably too intelligent for u in that case.

  • @tarquinshred Yeah. Coming from the fellow who says "u". I was stating my opinion in the COMMENTS no need to get hasty.

  • Very boring.

  • not bad

  • The saxophone is not my taste but everything else about this I love.

  • I only just listened to this song, it's epic

  • wow. When is this in the record stores

  • @Forkroute The 28th dude. Two more days. It'll be sweet.

  • *their

  • Sumerian records is on there shit...

  • this is boring

  • @FreeCandi Please get out.

  • @FreeCandi Go listen the album. You won't be dissapoint.

  • If you got on Tram's facebook they posted a link to a review that also has mastered version of this song. It's 1000x better in case you arent sold yet. Unfriggenbelievable to be honest.

  • its like animals as leaders and supertramp had sex it would sound like this :)

  • why do black people make me so hard!

  • JAZZ IS BACK!!!!

  • @SilenceThyKing15 when did it leave?

  • I wish they would post the lyrics

  • Awesome.

  • My jimmies remain unrustled.

  • Jazz's reaction to Djent music.

  • Nice polyphonic music, has a progressive rock feel.

  • Better than AAL imo.

  • Sumerian, Im not gonna fucking buy a $30 pre order pack if I havn't heard any mastered music by this artist.......

  • @Sm1thers1boy haha

  • @Sm1thers1boy

its got half of AAL, flutes, saxophones, what more could you ask for?

  • @bobertjr3 this doesn't sound like AAL.....i mean it's got Tosin Abasi's unique style but it's very different, which is good

  • @xVictimOfADownx1 It's different, yeah. But it still sounds a lot like Animals as Leaders' style.

  • @Sm1thers1boy hell, this alone is enough for me to spend 30 bucks. tosin is like a mad scientist of music!

  • @Sm1thers1boy You do realize what mastering is, right? Considering it's mainly turning up the volume to match for each track on an album, your comment is pointless. Turn up your speakers.

  • @liondeag No I didn't know that actually. Thanks for letting me know. I turned up my speakers and now it sounds better.

  • @Sm1thers1boy You should buy it just from hearing this, plus the fact that its a Tosin Abasi project, whats wrong with you man?

  • @metalhead980 Hahaha very true words man. I planned to buy it from the beginning. I was just expressing that I didn't think it was a good idea for Sumerian to just put up a pre production because some people might be turned off by it and not want to pre order.

  • @Sm1thers1boy It's Abasi. You know the best guitarist of our generation. How bad could it be.

  • I love abasi. and this. all really good

  • i dont want my view of this band 2 be ruined by such an unmastred song...

  • This is like Animals as Leaders, minus the steroids ehh

  • This is mediocre for Tosin, but exceptional gold for everyone else.

  • Dem tits.

  • Awesome project, i can't wait to see more of this. The album cover is quite symbolic considering the origins of the band members.

  • I know it is just my opinion here but, this just sounds like Animals as Leaders with saxophone and quieter drums. I love pretty much anything Tosin Abasi touches musically speaking and this is really no exception but I am just missing the point of having two bands with such similar sounds. Then again, I play guitar in my basement so, i'll just shut up and enjoy.

  • @sparkinton i dont think theyre that similar if i had found out about this the same time i found out about aal i wouldnt think they shared any members

  • @sparkinton I can see the resemblance of Tosin's character in both bands. But Eric's drums are so much different! Being a jazz enthusiast, I usually love the tamber of a tenor saxophone, but Adrian's style is so different!

  • @sparkinton you're right. If someone tells me that this is part of AaL's new project, believe it

  • @sparkinton i was thinkin the same thing, its sounds just like AAL, why have a different band at all

  • First time ever that I listen to something that features Tosin on guitars that doesn't blow me away.

  • @gnrcr probably because its not all much about him. im glad this isn't "Tosin's Other Band" or something like that. Weightless really made AAL a complete band.

  • Just read on their page that the new album comes out 2.28.12! Same day as Veil of Maya! The entire progressive community will be dropping some serious load that day...

  • @Periphery830

I nearly soiled myself once hearing of the new VoM album, imagine the bricks of fecal matter in my knickerbockers alone at the journalism which hath foretold of T.R.A.M. releasing an album with newer materials. I'm gonna poo everywhere.

  • Ghosts of Zappa and Dimeola, get out of the room!!!

  • @jglll best comment I've seen on this video!

  • Please get bass :D

    Still awesome mind :D :D

  • The first chord just killed 15 people.

Please, master it to protect ignorants !

  • Album now please.

  • I definitely can recognize Tosin in there.

  • 15 people are lost.

  • Animals as Leaders without Navene, hahaha

  • Comment removed

  • @jabaacuatic Different colour completely, plus the flute, bass clarinet player.

  • @EtherealWaves Yeah i know, it is an awesome project, will see how good it gets when its mastered! :D

  • superbo

  • Who knows when the mastered album comes out?

  • I'm ready for Sumerian to allow this album to be released.

  • Advertisement wat

  • they should just put out an ep now, this shit is takin way to long

  • Jazz was always a blur it was actually tagged on things that were not defined same with avant garde. Jazz doesnt mean walking basslines swing rhythms and blues form. Djent rhythms are actually probably the "standard" jazz rhythm in the modern scene. The jazz i hear in bars and cafes has djent things going on distorted saxes and trumpets, electronic keyboards and drummers just going insane like thomas pridgen or deantoni parks. They have the walking bass thing but its different and distorted.

  • @Eradicateify well put. I wanted to say the same thing but you put it so much better than i could've.

  • MORE!!

  • This is more into their jazzy side. Reminds me of Weather Report.

  • AAL never disappoints, don't know about this tram shit though

  • @Sh1fters Featuring members of Animals As Leaders, The Mars Volta, and Suicidal Tendencies. it's in the description box..

  • @omgnuub no I was saying I didn't like tram

  • @Sh1fters weightless was a disappointment for me, it lacked alot of what i loved in the first self titled album.... but then again i dont think misha mansoor had anypart of the weightless album

  • When will be the album able to buy or is it already out ? because i cant find it anywhere

  • @Tesafilmdeckel2000 The album was delayed for whatever reasons they are not telling us. No official release date since the announce of the delay has been made.

  • djazz

  • ill... but liked animals as leadears more. verry good though

  • weightless Epic AOL album .. but i cant wait for TRAM's album

  • @almukhtaranas AAL not AOL aha

  • AAAAW, awesome... is it already out ? I'm so keen on it ! :D

  • sounds like camel

  • I clicked on this video and i was turkeyslapped by the cock of advertising, telling about good charlotte or some shit. I've never F5ed a page that fast in my life.

  • I thought it was going to be out in june wtf well when it come out i shall get it

  • Every day, 41 kids learn they have cancer. Every day, 41 kids learn that Tosin Abasi CURES CANCER. Enjoy your anti-cancer treatment.

  • all it needs is to be released already... god this is driving me crazy cant wait any longer

  • sounds like the background music to the show louie hahaha.

  • damn I don't know why, but I was expecting some metal.

  • Do they sing or are they instrumental?

  • @ROCDUC instrumental

  • Pretty damn awesome drumming.

  • I mean this is good and all, but I would much rather be listening to new Animals As Leaders...

  • 3:22 reminds me Amon tobin, am i the only one?

  • I enjoy this song, I like it. All it needs is a proper mastering session.

  • I understand the importance of mastering now.

  • @AboutSelix its not that important

  • @AboutSelix yeah itsn't loud enough...

  • @AboutSelix it wouldn't seem so bad if it weren't for the lack of volume.

  • That's Ridiculously Amazing Music.

  • jeez this is not jazz its jazz inspired music (imo) so get out if u expect jazz. as a technical metal lover, which i am, i'm astonished how awesome this sounds !

  • @ziim23 Ya man these days it's hard to have raw "jazz". The walking bass, the swung ride, etc. It's all much more influenced than being straight. I agree with you.

  • @ziim23 define Jazz. The person who responded earlier said "raw jazz", as in how it used to be. Jazz used to rely heavily on the piano for the chord progression while simultaneously playing the melody. As time progressed, the need for the piano to play with complexity lessened. Jazz used to be ppl having to improvise freely on the spot...but as time progressed ppl started playing from sheet music. Jazz has something not defined with a period..Jazz is a blur. Jazz has changed...Jazz will change.

  • @ziim23 But what is jazz, one part of my music journalism course is music history, and after studying a bit of jazz, i can firmly say. What is jazz. this has a lot of elements.

  • Sounds pretty mastered to me lol

  • Minds me of Cynic

  • I can't tell exactly which solos are Reyes' or Abasi's :/ I wanna say Reyes' is the first one and Abasi's is the second one since some of the sweeping in it is derived from a very Tosin-esque selection of notes.

  • @yeatsg I talked with Tosin after a show a few months ago about this song and he said there's actually a mistake in the sweeping, so I guess that was his solo? I dunno, it was cool to hear him talking about this though

  • This is like Dream Theater plus a Volta sense of funk, jazz, and texture.

  • @tmv866

Most accurate description I've seen so far.

  • @tmv866 I sensed some Dream Theater vibe as well.

  • sick!

  • That was fucking epic.

  • The sax is great, ads a real "Free for jazz" feel

  • @chickenluva1

    "free for jazz"?

do you perhaps mean freeform jazz?

and if not, what is "free for jazz"?

and if so, free form jazz is certainly not a feel that can be lent by a single horn solo. it's rather an entire style, wherein the entire song can be improvised, and no sheet music is involved.

  • @fLKommotioN you tell him

  • this is the BEST thing that has ever passed through my ears.

  • adrian is one of the most brilliant wind instrumentalists in the world right now. his work with volta is beautiful, but you need to experience his solo shit and him as a player altogether. very off the cuff, extremely emotive and powerful playing. he will make this band for sure, and i fucking LOVE tosin too (i am a guitarist who draws a great deal of inspiration from him).

get to know adrian. he's amazing.

  • tosin and javier are both geniuses, do you really think they would just choose adrian for no reason. this shit will be epic. just wait.

  • I feel as though T.R.A.M. isn't real anymore. As an avid jazz listener, this style should be appealing, but it's not. The flute and tenor sax are just.... sporadic. Anyone trying to justify the "squeaks" and "squaks" are bleh... He had one nice melodic line at 1:38, and then proceeded to shred. I'm just not impressed.

  • @KillswitchEngage42 this is only one song. it's meant to sound improvisational and technical, while other songs will probably have a much bigger focus on melody. i agree the sax is pretty sporadic in this, but it also was in the live version. and tosin has great melodic parts in the especially at 1:05, so I would'nt say the whole song lacks melody. i honestly think this mood is kind of cool, and I'm sure that like AAL, the other songs are all going to be very distinct as well.

  • @Periphery830 Totally, man! Tosin is a very melodious player. The only one that just doesn't fit to me is Adrian. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong when the album finally gets released. The only reason I like this tune is Tosin and Javier.

  • @KillswitchEngage42 from what i've been hearing out of the live stuff, adrian has some really good melodies in these songs but we will see :)

  • @Periphery830 Man, I hope so :)

  • I didn't think it was out yet. But I don't really know. Soon hopefully.

  • i love this where can i get it!

  • thumbs up if 1:05 is your favorite part!

  • Sumerian signs all the best bands, besides Asking Alexandria and I See Stars.

  • i was expecting metal :/

  • FREEFORM JAZZ SUMERIAN STYLE

  • Love it. Thank you so much.

  • Mahavishnu Orchestra all up in this shit. But like a racked out version

  • to me it sounds a lot better now than it did the day they uploaded t for some reason

  • Now I have an erection lasting longer than 4 hours.

  • @ACEshredZ shut up...i read so many boner jokes pertaining to music and this is the one that sets me off enough to tell you to shut the fuck up...nobody gives a shit...there are many other ways cooler/funnier/sweeter/orignal to say that music is good without referring to your dick or jizz or whatever else EVERYONE always uses. ACEshredZ...you ARE a swole piece.

  • @keith1780 dude....chill the fuck out lol. he obviously digs the tunes. he can say that however he wants.

  • @Periphery830 ok and i can say fuck you. so you chill the fuck out bitch.

  • @keith1780 just sayin'. don't be a dick.

  • @Periphery830 I was just saying so how bout you dont be a dick

  • @keith1780 Hahaha ok man, are you jealous of my large boner? Thanks for taking the time to write out that response, makes me feel special.

  • @ACEshredZ to answer ur question, no. and you are welcum

  • @ACEshredZ Lol that might have been the most effectively simple comeback I've seen in a while. Good work friend.

  • @DeathToMayo Haha..Cheers mate!

  • i jizzed.
