  • IS THIS SAVE I DONT KNOW WONT THE POLISH IRRIATE MY EAR BECAUSE ITS GOING INSIDE MY OPEN PIERCING IDK IF IT OKAY TO DO

  • wat if u just got your ears pierced will the nail polish infect or irritate my ear in any way?

  • you...saved...my...life...how i wont have to spent 30 bucks on a pair of earrings!

  • Cheap Australian jewellery stores like Diva and Lovisa are already nickel-free.

  • Some people might want to think about getting a bag of earring hooks from their local craft store if they know a certain type won't bother them. This way you can buy all the earrings you want with only a little to work to do at home.

  • Im going to try this! :) i have super sensitive ears and im always seeing the cutest cheap earrings but they irritate my ears :( so hopefully this works :)

  • WOW! I will try this! I had only heard of coating the "jewelry" part so that it won't rust, but never heard (or thought) of doing the hook! thx! I will try this bcuz I do suffer from that sensitivity . We'll see how it goes =)

  • one problem with studs: i coated the stem with nail polish but when you put the backs on, it peels the polish off :/ help??

  • @maureenasaurus just don't use the metal backings, you can just use the plastic things that are used for the hooks

  • the best place to look for cheap but classy jewelry keepitclassyjewelry.artfire.com ship out quick

  • do u know any websites that sells cheap earrings?

  • @Onlyone209 forever 21 (:

  • @Onlyone209 Also Charlotte Russe.

  • @Onlyone209 GirlpropsDOTcom & their sister site FabulessDOTcom

  • @Onlyone209 e bay

  • i was thinking of doing this with some fake gold jewlery i have cause they rust so quickly! glad to know it can protect my ears too! thanks girl :)

  • what about clear spray paint? anyone tried this?

  • Would clear nail polish also help your ears getting irritation like bumps and keloids. Lately whenever i wear earrings, i'll take them off and my ears will feel irritated/sore.

  • could you do this on other jewelry, like rings?

  • lol she got them at the fashion distrect lol i just saw em in another one of her vids. lol

  • I unfortunately can't even use nail polish because my ears are hyper-sensitive to anything that isn't stainless steel or above 24 karat gold; and my skin is super acidic or something so by the end of the day my ears will have taken all the nail polish off the hook! What I do though is break the hooks off of my el-cheapo earrings and slip them through my little gold sleeper hoops or gold studs and voila! No irritation and I don't have to pay tonnes of money for cute earrings :)

  • it's better to buy new hooks at a bead shop and replace the cheap hooks. a shop employee could easily show you how. what are the health effects of putting the chems in the polish in your ear like that?

  • @NedegaDolma: I don't think it would cause much harm to you if the polish is dry. Yes it has chemicals in it,but when it's dry it really shouldn't do anything to you.

Also people don't all want to buy new hooks and learn how to replace them.

  • where did you get the earing from judy?:)

  • How to design an Hello Kitty French Manicure?? Check my new vid !

  • Thanks! I'm going to try this! I have super sensitive ears as well..that's part of the reason why i stopped buying earrings! But I will give this a try and hopefully it will help! thanks once again.

  • does it really work? but im scared to try

  • ive been doing this for quite a while now! even on my rings cause i dont want to get that ugly blue ring on my finger everytime i wear metal :)

  • ur earings are so cute i love it!!! good tip :)

  • I have really sensitive ears so I'm totally going to try this. Thanks Judy!! <3

  • that is such a good idea!

  • OMG thats great Judy that you so much for this will defintely try it out!

  • Thanks Judy, My daughter is almost 16. Poor thing loves earings, but dosen't wear 'em for the irritation part. I can't wait to share this with her. Thanks a bunch!

  • wow this was a great tip! me and my bf got promise rings a few years back and he cant ever wear his ring because he is allergic to white gold.. im totally gonna try coating the inside of his ring with some clear polish now! worst case, acetone will take the polish right off! thanks so muchhh :DD

  • I used to work for Piercing Pagoda (they are not paying me to say this though!) and we used to sell a clear plastic sheath that you could put the post through. That is an alternative to putting clear nail polish in there. If they act like they don't sell it, tell them it should be in the tiny blue and clear baggies!

  • My mom has being doing that for a long time and got me into doing that...It helps it to not fade fast, too.

  • you just saved my life!

  • what about stopping your rings from going orange?? does it work for that too? x

  • yes, it works on keeping it from going green, orange, etc(:

  • how long does the nail polish last on the jewelry before you have to reapply? :)

  • thanks!

  • thats such a good tip!!!!!!!!

    thankyou!!!

  • I do this! On pretty much everything that has nickel in it.. belt buckles, pants buttons, jewelry...

  • OHMYGOD!<3

    THANK YOU!!!!

  • I've heard this tip about nail polish too!

I was skeptical about it but now that you've confirmed it, I'm in the clear! (: Thanks!

    I have irritation towards nickel!

  • totally helps!

    aderpotater. etsy. com

  • Sure you can wear cheap jewelry.... as long as you dont mind dying of cadmium posoning.

  • I do the same thing... it works guys!

  • cool tip! :D

  • omg.

    thank you so much

i have alot of earrings that i cant use because my ears are soo sensitive.

thank you i am going to take nailpolish on every earring that i got.. :D

  • thank u soo much:D

  • wow! thats a great tip. gonna have to give it a try! :D

  • Also soaking it in silver or rubing alcohol

  • haha I do the same![;

  • wow this is awesome i hated wearin my earings just once a week cuz of this. I have heard of puttin clear nail polish on to the earring to prevent it from changing color but i have never thought to put on the hook. Thank you so much for the idea!!!!

  • wooow i thought i was the only person who did this (: been coating my earrings for years now x

  • Wow awesome, that's a helpful tip I will be using lol.....Thanks a bunch... Take Care <3

  • Judy, now I just got shocked.. in a good way :D I do excatly the same thing! but still you have to be careful so your earings won't get any dust or humidity or it will get rusty..

  • that's so cool!

  • thank you for the tips! I get lots of wonderful MAC makeup from Gratis Makeup Samples - they'll last me ages!

  • @Marcelletreib omg message me a linkk!!! MAC SAMPLES?

  • @hellhala its a scam!!! ..i was curious & google gratis makeup samples & it led me else where = SCAM! & they posted the same cmmnt on another video. becareful peeps!

  • wow this actually works

  • omg i didnt know that worked! thats a great trick

  • i learned this trick a while back, n i use it on my rings that aren't real so they don't turn my fingers green hehe n it's actually really funny cuz my brother was the one that told me about it, i was like :O LOLs

  • wow thats cool.. great tip.. thanks

  • I wish I knew this tip 2 years ago before my holes closed up b/c I gave up on wearing earrings. =T

  • wow great tip

  • omg's thank you for that tip!!! I love to wear earing but never thought i'd could so i'll have to give it a try....Thanks a bunch hun:)

  • you remind me of Oprah!

  • great tip!!!

  • hollerrrr.....lol

  • i've been doing this to my rings that i get from Forever21 and it works, but sometimes i have to re-apply another coat cuz it does come off after a while :]

  • Great tip!

  • Polishes with phthalates should be avoided. It's considered to be a potential carcinogen and possible cause of birth defects, allergic rashes and eczema, and they are already banned in Europe.

Also avoid ones with formaldehyde or have a formaldehyde-releasing agent like imidazolidinyl urea or quaternium 15. The most common cause of eyelid dermatitis is the formaldehyde in nail polish. I got this info from this month's Marie Claire magazine.

  • agh i used to hate claire's supposedly "sensitive solutions" earrings 'cause they'd still make my ears bleed/irritated... but cleaning my ear hole/earrings while they're on my ears with a qtip dipped in rubbing alcohol everyday really helps!

  • Where did you get those earrings you're wearing in this video??

  • she got them at the fashion district in LA.

  • Also make sure you steralise the hook and your ear with dettol or a similar product to get rid of germs :)

  • this is true! you can paint your whole earing if it's like the cheap ones from forever 21 so it doesn't rust and the gold comes all ugly looking :) haha.

  • nail polish has a lot of dangerous chemicals in it though so i'm afraid if it where to seep into your skin or leave chemicals in can be another scary situation!

  • great deals thanks for this vid

  • I always do that! :D

  • omg! u look sOo much lyk anna maria perez de tagle!! u r both beautifuL so this iz competly a comment(^_-)

  • but after a while it will chip and ull get nail polish in the hole...

  • Yep! You can even coat the entire earring so it doesn't get dull.

  • another way to keep your ears from getting annoyed or i guess irritated is to put some neosporing the the hook of your earring that goes directly in your ear

  • Thanks for the tip! My sister has super sensitive ears so she never wears "cheap" earrings either! I'm definitely going to pass this tip along to her.

  • did it work for her?

  • Coat your hole and the metal with Neosporin... or change the hook to sterling silver. Cheap SS fish hooks on ebay.

  • hey! that's clever,

    i'm gonna try that :)

    thanks judy!

  • I use new skin that liquid bandage stuff.

  • i have to dip my earring hooks in the cheap equate antibacterial cream, its works for meee=).... especially new ones-im always scared someone tried them on before i bought them XP

  • Wow where did you get those for a dollar, those are really cute!

  • good idea

  • GREAT TIP!!!!

  • That trick doesn't work me! Which totally bums me out. Damn nickel allergy!

  • Wow this is such a great tip! I'm definitely going to try it ASAP. Thanks :)

  • Great tip, thanks for sharing. I am so glad I can wear fahion jewelry no problem

  • ooooommmmmgggggg THANK U SOOO MUCH!!!!!!!! YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!!! I COULD WEAR EARRINGSSSSSSS!!!!!!

  • OMG, this is great! Thank you so much =D Oh yeah, you are so prettifuulllll!!!

  • Another tip is to sanitize the hook of the earring with alcohol and then put neosporin on the earring hook. It helps to prevent any irritation because it has a vaseline consistency.

  • My friend does this trick...she cant wear cheap necklaces either or she'll have to wear a turtle neck so it doesn't touch her neck or chest. Great tip...it does work.

  • I wear rubbing alcohol.

  • Imma try this cause my ear get really ugly when i wear fake earrings

  • I will try that, thanks !

  • does it really work? i wanna wear cheap cute earrings :(

  • thank you

  • thanks judy.. i really had a stupid sensitive ear... Now i know what to do~~ THX~

  • hollerrrr lol

  • Could the chemicals from the nail polish irritate your ears? This sounds like a great idea but I was just wondering..thanks Judy!

  • coool!!!!

  • my body is immune to everything its hilarious. i can stab myself with a rusty nail and ill still be fine. but this definitly is helpful, my sister has REALLY sensitive ears

  • If the polish doesnt work for some of you then you can just buy some silver or gold earring posts which are pretty cheap and just replace the posts.

  • finally. somthing that worked. i just tried it and.

OH. MY. GOD. i can now wear cute cheap earrings!!

  • ...Heyy I just had a conversation with a few girls about this SAME issue on your previous video! I posted this comment already, but it isn't showing up! :/

  • wow great video... i will def. try it out.. thank u so much

  • I have NEVER been able to wear anything that is not silver or gold and I've been using that trick for years. My mom taught it to me. It works perfectly!

You look super pretty in this video! =)

  • Hey girl, ( could just be me) but I wish I could say that your tip was helpful but I have to disagree ONLY because Ive tried that and it just made thing worst to the point that the dr was going to cut off part of my ear :( Once again it could just be me

  • i do this!

  • thanks for the quick tip!

  • How often do you have to repaint?

  • lol i do this to most of my earrings.. and it works lol my told me about this a very long time a go..... i cant wear any type metal even if its the sensitive kind ...soo i know this works

  • yes, its a nice tip! you can use the same tip also to prevent bracelets or rings from color fading, and that way they'll stay longer!

    thanks

  • you save my life!;O

  • nope, I already tried that and nope, I can't even try plastic or fake earrings for a couple or seconds, cause even like that I get itchy and all gross :( :( :( :(

just gold earrings, and silver but the silver ones not for a very long time :( :(, so jealous of all the girls wearing beautiful dangling earrings, matching their outfits and why not :( :( you are so lucky :).

  • If your like me and are allergic to nickel, it doesn't work on earrings but works on rings and necklaces.

  • I buy my cheap Jewelry from thefashionistasvault . com

  • that's such a great tip! you're so helpful :]

  • Comment removed

  • im the opposite, i cant wear silver earrings... they get infected if i do

  • Wouldn't the clear nail polish irritate your ears just as much as the actual earring?

  • I;ve been doing this for years! And it's the best thing ever. The only thing is that you have to look if its peeling every now and then. But it heps us delicate-ears-people a lot lol

  • i also heard that you can stick the earing on garlic for a day and its suppose to help... =[ idk....

  • my mom used to do this too!

  • aw, thnx judy for the tip! I will try it. I have had this problem for so long n im so tired of it! my ears gets all red

  • Claire's jewelry is actually made for sensitive ears. :]

  • Thanks for sharing this tip!

  • could you make a video tutorial of this look?? it's awesome!

  • this also works if you have a ring that turns your finger green, just coat the inside with clear nail polish.

  • did you start the video saying holler?

  • Thank-you for the awesome tip Judy! I was just mourning my Forever 21 earrings because they gave me ear an infection and I thought I could never wear Forever 21 earrings again!

  • holy cow if this works i will be eternally grateful!! i have never been able to wear those earrings not even the"sensitive" ones. THANKS!! :-) <3

oh and the earrings I believe are from the Claires 10$ haul video.

  • i love "cheap earrings" i have sentive ears...but i still wear them all the time..thanks to clear nailpolish...i have been trying to tell people about this tip...but more than a few were skeptical to try...

  • Oh thank God! Ive NEVER been able to wear earrings! Now I can! :D

  • @stunningjunk you dont put polish on your ear..dumb, you put it on the earing to coat it to protect your ear.

  • I'm not dumb lol I know it goes on the earring, but the nail polish irritates my ears

  • If it's dry it won't irritate your ears if it's wet then THAT'S the CHEMICAL that will go in your ear, just common sense

  • ok obviously I'm not using wet nail polish that's just stupid, but lets stop with the arguing guys I hate when people argue on youtube its stupid, I was just stating my own person experience and that doesn't require yelling from strangers.

  • Oh excuse me :-)

  • clear nail polish is godly :)

  • God tip, Judy!

  • I clean my ears and earrings with alcohol before wearing them

  • I have really sensitive ears and have relatives who will only by real silver and gold earrings for this reason!! Who knew they could save hundreds by just applying a few coats of nail polish! I bet the more organic nail polish you use, the better too!

    Thanks Judy! xoxo

  • WoW!!! Thanks for the tip!

  • Great tips I will give this a try earrings I have to wear them a little while and then remove them

  • I like buying cute cheap earrings too! I mean, theres really no difference between an $8 one to a $1 one. Some expensive earrings are ugly... THANKS FOR THE TIP JUDY! most def. will try this! =D

  • thank you judyyyy!!! i never wear earrings because of that problem! will definitely try that out and let you know if it works... :)

  • yes! this does work! only thing... after a few wears, the polish fades so just re-apply :)
