Obviously not as good as the original which is a classic. The first remake released a year earlier at least attempted some new plot themes, this film just added familiar CGI scenes. BIg disappointed but I guess it pleased the crowd that doesn't care about character. From a character stand-point, the original's sequel, BEYOND THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE, is even much better.

I have to say, from seeing the Poseidon Adventures trailer from 1972 then this newer version's trailer... The '72 is a movie I'd watch... The '72 portrays fear and anger much better, unlike this trailer.

@CHDawson If you really want to be scared of ships I suggest you get "Deep Rising". Thats not all though, I saw Stephen Kings "The Langlories" made me never want to go on an airplane again. I'm referring both, excellent movies with interesting actors and horror and disappointment (not for the film itself, for the characters) at every turn.
