xxshaneallenxx, I was fortunate to have a father that taught me, just "watch my lips" from birth. So it was easier for me. However, you can get books and online advice, BUT..... the best thing is to watch a person, after having listened to them here on YT. I am a very bad example. I confess to being a bad enunciator. When you find a person, keep with them, close your eyes and listen, then turn off the sound and listen again, to only their lips. Feel free to email me on anything at all.

I think you handled this situation very courteously. Dealing w/ppl who are uninformed or ignorant etc. can be hard but responding to them politely is even harder, and that speaks volumes. Bravo to you!

I would say " I don't mean to be rude but I must finish this book, maybe we can talk some other time" and then ignore her. She may ask "what other time?" and this is where the ignore part is important. :)

i dont read books but if i did i would say to the lady or anyone else "do you want to read this book?" she will say "no" then u say "ok i do, so thanks for stopping by" if she happen to say "yes" the u say "sorry i am still reading it maybe i let you read it if u shut the hell up" i know its not a good advise but it may work. when ever i want to get out of this kind of people i always try to use polite words like " no speak no english" cos i dont anyway ;).
