78s4u: Thanks for your celebration of these forgotten tracks: You Are A Genius!!! I LOVE THIS SITE. You have made my life so much better because all this stuff is almost forgotten. & Those ol' rockers worked so damn hard to do this stuff. ~ttt~
Cayet Mangiaracina wrote "Mary, Mary Lou" in the late 50s. In addition to the Bill Haley version heard here, Sam Cooke recorded the song and performed it on the "Arthur Murray" TV show (of which there are clips on YouTube). When Rick Nelson's "Hello, Mary Lou", written by Gene Pitney, became a hit, Mangiaracina sued Pitney for copyright infringement, and won. He was awarded 50% of the songwriting and publishing rights to "Hello, Mary Lou", although many releases still credit only Pitney.
Cayet Mangiaracina is now Father Cayet Mangiaracina a Domminican Priest.

@Tuggle that sounds really unfair, if it was because of this song, which to me doesn't remotely sound like Hello Mary Lou by Ricky Nelson..
