So are you stating with this video that all persons who use the silent treatment tactic are perpetrating emotional abuse? or are they all psychopathic? even narcissists?
I've been down this road. It has caused me much grief. The silent treatment causes great suffering and I felt punished by his withdrawal. The silent treatment can be quite cruel and insidious when the person who uses this tactic pretends to be innocent when really they intend to hurt, they just don't have the balls to admit it being the passive type and all. Meanwhile, they are likely to be calling YOU mean because of your anger, but likely won't admit their silence fuels it. They play dumb.
Absolutely! Thank you. When you said that the other person may get really pissed when they're continually ignored that made me feel so much better. I was with this person who'd use this tactic ALL THE TIME! I would tell him he's hurting me and he'd say that "he hasn't done anything to me"...you are the one who hurts me all of the time (when I'd lose my temper which was in fact not that often. Most of the time I'd try to talk, coax him, grovel. These tactics would never work. Now I'm seeing why!
I used to live in southern England for years and this is normal behaviour amongst people as they cannot be bothered to converse with work colleagues, flatmates or even members of their own family. Too many parents can't even be bothered to talk to their children even when there is no adult companion present. They aren't necessarily psychopaths; just brought up that way by their parents because of culture.
This is also used in workplace mobbing. I experienced a lot of this crap at universities. Dr. Noa Davenport and Dr. Kenneth Westhues have done a lot of research into workplace mobbing. I always thought they were narcissists before I started to do research on this social problem. Corruption is prevalent.
@ThomasSheridanArts So many immature people go into a sulk and then get over it but with controllers and psychopaths they are whipping themselves up into an angry state before lashing out.

After 25 years, I feel voilent when my partner enacts these schemes. Currently,
I send him to his mothers house. I will not play games.

Also pretending they don't understand
what you're saying or talking over you.
I remember going through
this for 2 or three weeks after which
she told me she was pregnant.
She said she wanted an abortion
and wanted me with her. I found out
much later there was no pregnancy or abortion
but she pretended otherwise.

Excellent. The silent treatment is almost like a pre-gaslighting stage.

@ThomasSheridanArts I consider the silent treatment to be a crucial part of gaslighting.
