nice scratch bro! why does my stanton t60 sounds distorted when i release the platter it's not the way i want them to be , there is a huge delay is there a fix bro thanks mate!
Don't have the first clue about turntables or scratching, but are you using a blank record? and do you eventually have to buy new records from scratching alot? and can you get the different scratching sounds with just a normal audio mixer and not a dj mixer?
whats good man? just bought the dr 202 and very unfimiliar with it. can you plug it into a computer and get beats off your computer or send beats too your computer. Also when I press record at any time it doesn't record? is there something special I need too be doing? thanks brotha p.s. very nice with the equipment and loved the errrrret, (scratch) bomb beat
great video 5*! i use a stanton deck, the t120- very good deck. I was wondering if you could reccomend me some scratch vinyl that have good sounds to scratch with. thanks!
It seems like I always get a few people that want to hate on me for being digital and not analog. Most of the time it's people without a single video. Anyway, great video, and thanks for the response. I don't own the 202 any more, but if I did I would reply back. Peace and God Bless.
Since I moved away from Reason and completely to hardware for beatmaking, I've been using the DR-202 to play basslines from my MPC until I can afford and make space for something like a Microkorg. My primary interest in the DR-202 is the 808 and 909 kits and the bass synth with the realtime mods.
So the DR-202 sucks because it contains "samples" of the 808 and 909 while you're advocating sampling the same sounds, just into a dedicated sampler. Okay.
The DR-202 is great for the classic Roland machines and also a cheap method of getting a bass module with many different generators, with realtime modification. Many of the 'classic' 80s drum machines became so while people like you shat on them claiming they're garbage and 'inauthentic' while creative established entire genres with them.
The DR-202 does NOT contain 808 and 909 samples. The DR-202 just tries to *emulate* the sounds, they're not sampled.
Please, inform yourself before making a statement.
"The DR-202 is great [...]" -> i don't think so. I had it, and it sucked. If you like it, that's ok, but the DR-202 is MILES away from the 80' 808 (and/or 909) sound.
ANY drum machine -besides maybe the Korg ER-1- has PCM sounds but this doesn't mean that the drums in the machine are sampled from the TR-909 or 808.
The DR-202 sucks. Period.
Roland (and Boss) has made a lot of machine with "the classico 80s 808 and 909 sounds" but none of them comes close in terms of sounds. The problem is that the DR-202 is one of the worst.
Anyway, your posts are becoming childish and i'm sincerely tired of talking to people without arguments, it's like riding the same carousel over and over... so fucking boring.
Great scratching m8. i really wanna get into mixing hip hop but i really dont know wat i'm doing. i dont think hip hop is bout blending so is it based more around cuts and scratching? i wud really appreciate if you could give me a bit of advise so i can put my hip hop records to good use :-)
" dont think hip hop is bout blending so is it based more around cuts and scratching? "
Not true. A good Hip-Hop DJ does a mixture of both. If you want to learn how to mix Hip-Hop the best starting point is to find some DJs you like listening to and go from there.

can you create scratching effects with the kaossilator?
cearleywine 3 years ago
No. No preset for anything like that. Those sampled scratch noises always irritated me anyway.

I recorded most of the kits from my DR202 into adode audition and then sold it...

I'm currently running my DR-202 midi connected to a Microkorg and audio connected to a SP-404. It's a pretty fun setup.

anyway, the Boss DR-202 sucks, it is the shittiest drum machine i've ever heard.
Keiretsu 3 years ago
Then the 808, 909, and 303 and every 80s Roland drum machine sucks, because that's what the DR-202 emulates.
qahtani 3 years ago
no, i love both 808 and 909. But the DR-202 just sucks: it is a digital emulation and even a bad one.
If you like 80s DM then pick a cheap sampler with a sequencer (like the Korg ES-1) and sample them, it's much better than the DR-202 imho.

No, please inform yourself. From the DR-202 specifications (from Sonic State:
"Synthesis Type: Digital sample playback"
Not to mention some of the drums and effects were lifted from actual records and can be identified.
qahtani 3 years ago
Oh, please...
"Synthesis Type: Digital sample playback"
Means that the DR-202 has PCM sounds.
ANY drum machine -besides maybe the Korg ER-1- has PCM sounds but this doesn't mean that the drums in the machine are sampled from the TR-909 or 808.

dude, get your mixer closer to the turntable. That looks so awkward. You can't even see the crossfader. Nice scratchin tho

Yeah, I've rearranged some things recently and now have the turntable where my left CD deck was.

I'd recommend Endtroducing by DJ Shadow... but it's up to you: there's are like 125232 different hip-hop subgenres.

is that on vinyl?, i've heard a couple of tunes from shadow on endtroducing it's pretty sik
