@masters1990mj Lol... Kirk could probably learn holy wars in a day, the same way a 9 year old could. Kirk isn't great, but neither is Mustaine. I learnt Holy Wars last solo within the first few months of playing guitar- it took me five times as long to master Marty Friedman's solos in the same song. Dave & Kirk aren't very good at lead guitar

Dave Mustaine does not have the ability to compose a solo like that, it is out of his league. Marty Friedman kicks his ass!

@twinturbos7r You're wrong. Dave Mustaine has never used the natural minor scale or phygrian scale in his life. He doesn't know how to play those scales. He only knows E harmonic minor and the pentatonic scale. Both of which are among the easiest scales to play in guitar. Ride the lightning solo contains natural minor and phygrian scales. Kirk Whamett, even though he isn't very impressive, knows way more scales than Dave.

If you listen to no life till leather, Daves solos are incredibly sloppy, easy to play. Kirk's replacements weren't very impressive but they were certainly better than the originals.
Dave thinks he's such a great lead player, and far better guitarists like Chris Poland & Jeff Young only got about 50% of the solos on the early albums.

Me and 2 other guys just sat in a room with Kirk for over 4 hrs & all he did was play the whole time. He is a GREAT guitarist. I was in awe the whole time.

I learnt Holy Wars last solo within the first few months of playing guitar- it took me five times as long to master Marty Friedman's solos in the same song. Dave & Kirk aren't very good at lead guitar

You dumb shit, it doesn't take much to learn. 1, the solo contains several scales that Mustaine NEVER uses (or knows), 2, the 'demo' where he plays lead guitar on RTL was mistitled. The demo was made with Kirk whammett on lead guitar and it was recorded months after Mustaine's departure. 3. Dave Mustaine does not have the ability to compose a solo like that, it is out of his league. Marty Friedman kicks his ass!

@twinturbos7r You're wrong. Dave Mustaine has never used the natural minor scale or phygrian scale in his life. He doesn't know how to play those scales. He only knows E harmonic minor and the pentatonic scale. Both of which are among the easiest scales to play in guitar. Ride the lightning solo contains natural minor and phygrian scales. Kirk Whamett, even though he isn't very impressive, knows way more scales than Dave.

It's almost embaressing when you compare them to the incredibly fluid technical solos of Chris Poland. I have also loads of Metallica isolated guitar tracks. Kirk changed his solos so that they could be played cleaner on kill em all but in the end he made them less challenging. If you listen to no life till leather, Daves solos are incredibly sloppy, easy to play. Kirk's replacements weren't very impressive but they were certainly better than the originals.
Dave thinks he's such a great lead player, and far better guitarists like Chris Poland & Jeff Young only got about 50% of the solos on the early albums.

Metallica is Metallica, Kirk's playing metal and theres only so much you can do in order to keep it sounding metal so his playing is limited on the Metallica cd's. I was very fortunate to have met Metallica when they were here and got to hang out with em all day before the show. Me and 2 other guys just sat in a room with Kirk for over 4 hrs & all he did was play the whole time. He is a GREAT guitarist. I was in awe the whole time.

kirk hammett sucks cuz people playing guitar for a few years can play his stuff but only a select few can play dave mustaines erratic yet majestic licks.....and kirk didnt ruin metallicas image........metallica ruined their own image by kicking out dave mustaine and replacing him with the peice of shit that is kirk hammett

Ugh Kirk is one of the greatest guitarists on the planet!! He's with all the greats page beck Clapton van halen etc... He ranks number 11 on the rolling stone list of top guitarists! Do the math megadeth fans! Metallica rules thrash metal!

Obviously you don't know anything about the history of metallica, because most of metallica's best songs wera all Dave's creation. And not to mention that Dave has greater guitar playing ability than kirk, kirk is a piece of shit who ruined Metallica's image, hes sounds like he is gay lol! Dave Mustaine is way way better than kirk!

Here we go again. Why do ppl always think mustaine takes the credit for writing SOME of metallicas songs?? He COWROTE the songs with james and lars doing much of the songwriting. a few sentences do not count man. u dont know shit!!!!
