@pr3par32die Yeah it's very peaceful...unlike many student parking lots. Most of pavement is covered with moss lol. And you'd be hard pressed to find any area in Portland that's very flat. It's very up and down.
At least not that day. Half an inch of snow that melted in an hour. However, just 60 miles east on Mt. Hood, they had plows running all day and night. 52 inches of snow in less than two days.
Portland has a very small snow plow fleet, and even then they only get the main freeways and surface streets.
@hideandgolove You can, however you must stop before going. Recently they tuned the red light cameras here to get people who roll right turn red lights. Lots of people have been getting surprise tickets in the mail.
@4:43 the grey Matrix that turned right onto the road I was on didn't even slow down for the red.
@5:15 I screwed up a bit. He was stopped at the red light and then went. I couln't see the hood of his car at first, but now I can see it stopped on the right side of the screen.
Man, first scene was crazy, as said lucky you weren't any closer as he/she swerved into your lane! Haha funny scene with the shopping cart guy holding up traffic. Some people are slow at realising your intentions to reverse to parallel park, even if slowing down and signalling early, usually I have no problems, although I've seen a few times happen to others, one time a driver was even honked at by a cop car who was blocking his way to parallel park, which forced him to go else where!
@LmBsY It's hard to tell, but I acutally jammed by brakes as hard as I could. I was doing 50mph and braked down to about 20. My ABS had a panic attack.
I felt bad about that guy with the shopping cart...the wheels got stuck or something.
The person behind the parallel parker had plenty of warning, he just wasn't paying attention...and I eventually got impatient because he wouldn't pass or back up (even though I gave him plenty of room to).
great captures especially first clip! thats just insane and lucky he didnt lose control in that condition! people follow to close these days and same stuff here which is how many accidents happen! you think people would be slower in those conditions and further back but I guess they dont realize how bad until something happens! also he was lucky no one was in the right lane and you were lucky you werent closer or him lose control!!! 1:40 - I drive a Mercury Mountaineer (similar to a Ford Explorer). That guy got me angry...but I wasn't going to hit him. The camera skews distance a little bit.
2:52 - I was thinking the same thing but didn't want to say it! For an American city, people aren't that fat here...
@DrivingandDashcam I assume your talking about the flashing yellow @:35? Less than half the intersections here have those (unlike your town which seems to have all intersection yield to oncoming traffic). More often than not, someone gets stuck trying to go on those flashing yellows, so most people don't even enter the intersection unless it's a green arrow. It's nice that drivers don't speed to cut you off or run the arrow like they do where you live though...
Yes. We do have some but they're useless, rarely to flashing for us to turn unless there are long line (Mostly in rush hour but it make traffic more even worst). Only city bus can make it flashing so they can keep their routes in on time.
@casmatori Probably would have gotten me involved in a crash too. Not only is he lucky he missed the cars, but also that I was paying attention and jammed the brakes. I would have ended up in his trunk had I not.

3:40 - the STOP is painted on the ground (there isn't actually a sign). You can see the line and the "O" and "P" vaguely...
