The best part of this song is the ending. The final two verses. Harry introduces a new tune but then lets it fade out. Always wish he kept that going.
I always dug this song so much. Chapin wrote so, so, so many terrific songs. It's such a drag so few people know his work beyond CATS IN THE CRADLE (ironically featuring lyrics written by Harry's wife) and TAXI--both beautiful songs, to be sure. However, those two tunes were but the tip of the musical ice burg, as it were. And when he performed, he was like a man with a mission! (No surprise there, he was a man with a mission--fighting world hunger.) I miss you, Harry. :(
