As much as I love this film, it's not possible. I believe the April 30, 2008 findings to be the truth. They have come to the conclusion the last of the Romanov children were found through DNA evidence. They were murdered just as their sisters were, just separated from the others after their death. I really wanted to believe she had somehow survived.

When they found the bones initially they were able to do facial reconstruction on all but one of the daughters because her skull was basically shattered. They never truly knew if Maria or Anastasia was the missing daughter. When they found the other skeletons the other girl also had her skull shattered. It was consistent with logs from those involved. They never had a fighting chance.

@Clazanet Despite popular belief that corpses disintegrate completely when burned, they don't unless burned in an industrial oven or something hotter. The fire used to burn the two bodies was not hot enough to cremate them. It's the same with acid, not all of it dissolves.

Actually there was a programme on about 3 or 4 years ago and they found two bodies not far from where the other 9 royal members of the household were found. Using what DNA was left in the bones of these two bodies they not only proved that one was male and one was female, but that they were siblings, the youngest out of the five children, and that they were direct descendants of the tsar and tsarina. They proved that not only was Maria was killed but so was Anastasia sadly.

The Best thing about being a 90s kid was the movies! They would have such a wonderful story and they would take you into the different worlds!! Anastasia was the reason I feel in love with history they same goes for Mulan the stories were just as important as the animation! Also the imagination some of these writers had were incredible!
