Ex Crohns sufferer here :) Suffered as a young child, diagnosed at 12 with UC, re-diagnosed at 13 with CD. Bowel resections, bowel removals, all the steroids etc.

I dropped it 13 years ago. No more suffering :)

You bring such emotion to your songs. I battled UC for a so called short 2 years, undiagnosed. I was diagnosed 16/10/10, by 6/11/10 I was rushed in for emergency surgery. Total abdominal Colectomy with ileostomy end. I'm 21. When my symptoms started, I withdrew completely, it was ruining my life. My restroom became my bedroom, it felt. When I thought I felt alone and different from everyone else before, I was wrong. The truth is, after this surgery, I've never felt so alone as i do now.

The quality of life is much better mate it took me 2 years of trying every med they had and nothing worked. I then got the operation and 2 months later i was 100% healthy go for it u wont regret it :D

i know what u mean.....after the 8th time on my Remicade i had an alergic reaction (anefelectic shock).... or however u spell that... and it was horrible. so i am not doing that again and no other meds work. i spent all last summer experimenting with all kinds of drugs and our last resort was remicade. it was seriously a miracle! i had sooo much energy and it felt like i was UC free.....so i decided to start running again and what do u know...i get a flareup and now i don't know what to do!!

From a fellow musician... Not to want to kill your musical muse, but, erm... I was able to conquer UC without surgery and (after a year) no drugs! Check out my first video (more to come) and join in the conversation.

PS: The song is pretty catchy, regardless of lyrics (I'm often more musical than lyrical in attention). Two comments: watch those vocal edits, and I'd rather hear your voice with a little less auto-tune, even if you feel the take isn't perfect. ;)

I'm sorry if it came across as if I was bragging. I meant to say there's hope: not everybody ends up needing surgery (and I'm not the only one who's been able to live symptom-free w/o drugs or surgery). If you want to know more, you can either drop me a private mail through YT or check out my videos. But since you already had the surgery, I'm guessing you're okay now w/o problems. I have to admit, I guess it irks me that people think, "surgery or drugs". I (and others) are proof otherwise.

i was diagnosed with UC about 5 years ago. i'm 17 now, and i have an astomy bad at the moment.. i've had my first surgery already. and i'm going on my second here in a while. i just have to lose about 30 more lbs, and i'll be good to go.. i really like your video, it really made me feel like there are other people out there who have been through what i've gone through so far. and i really am glad that you and other people out there make movies to help other people. take care :D

how long have you been on remicade? how does it work for you? me, it's been about 6 months and it helps a lot, but doesn't take all the symptoms away for sure.

There's light at the end of our tunnel. I've been able to control UC with Asacol and a really good diet. After I graduate, and get my own place, I'm gonna get a real decent juicer and improve my diet even more. No more Asacol after that. I wish you all a solid night of sleep.

Hey I have UC, have had it for 1.5 years now, been hospitialised twice, so far 2/3 of my bowel was infected, now just 7cm, just a question for people that have had their colon removed, do you end up with a bag or just like a fake parts replacing your colon? because i know about 40% of ppl who suffer from UC have to eventually have part of their bowel or colon removed. different doctors have told me different things, thought i would ask people who have gone through it :)

I feel for you. Do a ton of research. Go to the library, read tons of books, use the internet and talk to tons of people with and without UC. I've been dealing with UC since 2001 and tried things like meditation and a change in diet that seemed to work for me, but not for others.

i had ulcerative colitis for about 1.5 years before i realized my colon had to be removed. the remicade didn't work, but now about 1 year after the colectomy i feel much better and am so happy it is all over.

if you have uc is it ok to drink during periods of remission. i was about 16 when i got it but it was only there for a month then went away. was in remission for 3 years after now its back. i dont have it bad now but i know it could get worse any time. i ask the question above because i used to drink when i was in remission and nothing bad happened. if any of you drink does it make it worse for you during remission?

ulcerative colitis has a cure - surgery i had an illiostomy in 1999 and have recently had my rectal stump removed im a 38 year old male whos healing and on the mend. the only song that sticks in my mind is "THE RING OF FIRE" Good look to every one whos got it Never give up.

was diagnosed with crohn's when I was 11, in the childrens hospital for over a month, severe and occasional flareups for 5 years, was on remicade for 5 years and it helped a lot, stopped working eventually, humira didn't work, had ileostomy surgery last may 22, life is much better now

hiked mount washington a few days ago on a vacation to new hampshire, would never have happened when I was sick
