  • I love Arlene's mask, with the embroidered AF. So cute.

  • Oh those were the days... I was a kid but I do miss the 50s!!

  • Ann Miller NOT in a musical??? What the haymuffins???

  • Cerf - the King of obvious jokes. ;)

  • It's Phil Rizutto from the Money Store.

  • She was quite "Hot" back in the day, as in "Too Darn" You can tell what Miller movie I saw the other night to make this statement.

  • Her dress is amazing and that tiara is lovely.

  • Happy Birthday Ann! :)

    Gosh, isn't she lovely?! :)

  • her legs are as long as my body

  • This is the first person I've seen stump them! Love it. :)

  • she IS gorgeous

  • She loved loved loved being a star and loved loved loved being rich! Always chic. A hard, hard worker, very self-disciplined and focus. Known in the busy for being totally down to earth. Like Lucy and Ginger she was a social animal; they all knew virtually everyone in the business and virtually everyone in the business knew them. All strong ladies who basically made their own opportunities.

  • WHAT LEGS she had! ...

  • Ann Miller just oozes class from every pore. Beautiful voice.

  • she was so beautiful!

  • @weightfeather1

Many thanks for your comment. I assume you are a heterosexual male--or is that too personal?

I agree with you about Kidman--same for Julia Roberts--whereas Jean Simmons drives me wild.

I guess chacun a son gout--thanks for taking the time.

  • It is so sad seeing women forced to remain sitting when greeting another woman.

  • the opposite sex! OMG! that silly 50s color remake of "the Women". they actually showed men in it. Leslie Nielson played Stephen Haynes. June Alison was Mary, and Joan Collins was Crystal Allen.

there was singing and a little dancing in it, but not from Miller.

too bad, she could have improved the film.

  • @etraig Boy! did you hit the nail on the Head! The Opposite Sex was awful!

  • @xenafan234 yeah, Ann played the "miriam arons" show girl part, and didn't sing or dance!?

i did think that agnes moorhead made a good "countess" though.

  • @xenafan234 Agnes Morhead was fine as the Countess De Luv, but the whole Movie was just rotten, poor June Allyson looked so stiff! And Paulett Goddard was in a class of her own! No one could touch the Origenal cast,Writer & Director!

  • @xenafan234 true, everytime they try to remake The Women it sucks. The recent one with Annette Benning and Meg Ryan was a fiasco.

  • @sweeney60 Totally missed the hole point of the Play & Screen Play, was just Awful, badleyy written,Directed and Miss cast! A horrid mess!

  • @xenafan234 and it was so sad, cause those women are all great actresses, and the film was so badly made they all looked horrible.

  • @sweeney60 You would have thought MGM would have done better.

  • @xenafan234 ya think

  • @sweeney60 Totally missed the hole point of the Play & Screen Play, was just Awful, badly written,Directed and Miss cast! A horrid mess!

  • Ann Miller: GREAT Legs!!!

  • She's so delightful! I love her!!

  • Arlene's Dress!! and Ann obligatory mink stole!!

  • Ann Miller is the first person who signs a A like me

  • She invented panty hose. Had great legs.

  • dsim200000-Ann Miller was on Broadway in the '80's! She starred with Mickey Rooney in Sugar Babies and then took the show to England! It and she were great! RIP Ann :(

  • John Daly enjoyed this one A LOT! lol

  • Annie Miller is smokin' hot

  • I think you mean she's 'Too darn hot!' :)

  • Wait a second!! Cathryn Cracion is not a brunette! She's a blonde! Am I right??

  • @SMhorses Katherine Grayson.

  • she was on broadway only once; in 1939. she says so in her book. she was in her first movie when she was 11 and died in 2004.

  • Rickets. Crickets is a typo. Haha.

  • P.S. I found this interesting, perhaps you will too. Ann Miller was born in Chireno in Nacogdoches County in east Texas, and was the daughter of John Alfred Collier, a criminal lawyer who represented the Barrow Gang, Machine Gun Kelly, and Baby Face Nelson, among others. Her maternal grandmother was Cherokee. Her name on the birth certificate was Johnnie! After John Dillinger! She hadcrickets and that's why she took up dancing; to exercise her legs! A firecracker she was!!!

  • Well, do you know about Ann Millers abusive husband and her attempt for children? If not do you want to know about it because I know about that and I can tell you about it!

  • @SMhorses i know about her husband, because of him, she hurt her back, and was all bandaged up during easter parade. she did that dynamite "shaking the blues away" number while in bandages and pain, and who could tell?

    amazing.

  • Ann Miller is so sexy. From her smile, to that slender vampy elegance, from those luscious big eyes to her long shapely legs, I'd spend a weekend in a suite at the Waldorf-Astoria exploring all the wondrous ways of making mad magical love to her. She's the real McCoy, have no doubt. Who could ever doubt her charm and sensuality? Yum!

  • Dorothy Kilgallen always asks the most ridiculous questions..."are you a legitimate soprano?" No, I'm a fake one.

  • the term is refering to professional classification as a Opera Soprano as opposed to an un trained singer un able to read music , I understood the question perfectly ...

  • the term is refering to professional classification as a Opera Soprano as opposed to an un trained singer un able to read music , I understood the question perfectly ... in fact at 4:52 Mr. Bennet Cerf re- words the same essential question again , and gets the appropriate answer

  • Yes, I know what an operatic soprano is, as I am an operatic mezzo-soprano. I was referring to Dorothy Kilgallen, as she always asks the strangest questions and seems to be the only one who cares about guessing the identity rather than making a funny tv show.

  • It wasn't that people didn't understand the question. It's just a stupid question.

  • A beautiful face that never ages....I love to look at her....

  • The best legs

  • She was extremely beautiful, gorgeous legs, tall, great skin and statuesque.

Yet I always found her completely lacking in sex appeal.

    Why?

Do any males out there have that same reaction??

Or perhaps a woman can explain it to me.....

  • Well I am a female and I have to ay that she said that she is totally against nudity and sex so she probaly doesn't want to be appealing.

  • year?

  • Norbert, still haven't watched all your What's My line stuff but sure enjoying it.

  • Larry Hagman's mother is Mary Martin, not Ann Miller.

  • Still, Larry's mother never looked this glamerous! :)

  • Ann Miller never had a kid that lasted more than 3 hours.

  • This Class and Glamour of the old stars is forever gone but happily preserved as was seen here-Ann Miller was gorgeous and dressed to the nines as they used to say-great clip!!

  • ann miller speaks spanish? i didn't know that!!!

  • I didn't either. Did you know why she can't just speak english?? Is it that that is how she generally speaks or because they want her to so it would be harder for the people with the masks on to recognize her voice??

  • It was common for mystery guests to use foreign accents to fool the panel.

  • Ahh, thank you! I have never seen this show as I am not a fan of this show, but I am a fan of Ann Miller. I have never even herd of the show. Thanks again!

  • omg so talented i like watch her dance and am like omg! wow ann/cyd/rita are my fave dont get me wrong i love e powell and jane powell and others but there my faves-legends and so talented

  • The only time I have seen the panel stumped when all ten questions were asked. Thanks for the upload!

  • what the hell was Alene wearing?...looked like she was in some kinda tube or something

  • WOW! Dressed to the nines!!

  • You can tell they thought she was Kathryn Grayson, especially as Dorothy kept asking if she was a legitimate soprano etc.. I'm surprised they didn't get it the first time she laughed! She had such a destinctive voice!

Thank you for sharing this - at the height of Ann's popularity.. wasn't she stunning!

  • There she is, glamorous as usual. Miller was indeed a movie star in every way. Did she go on to happiness with dapper Arthur Cameron? Used to watch "What's My Line" religiously. Great years!

  • Well, they got married but only for a year or so.

  • rizzuto, oolala! molto caldo!

  • Only time I've seen the panel essentially "throw in the towel"- they all passed to the next panelist, until it went back to the initial "passer."

  • Ann sure did a good job of fooling them!

  • my favorite female tap dancer ever! SHe got them good.

  • lovesssssss her always a star x

  • October 1956: guest panelist Baseball player/legend Phil Razuto was WML's first mystery guest in Feb 1950 and was a mystery guest during the WML 20th anniversary taping session (Feb 1970). Arlene refers to Sal Maglie because he was the first mystery guest in this broadcast. Thanx for posting this memorable clip from a memorable WML night.

  • Some mystery guests want to bamboozle the panel and others want to be recognized. Ann Miller looks as though she had a great time leading them down the primrose path.

  • Norbert,

these clips are just amazing!!Thank you so much for your efforts to bring us these gems.
