The nonsense about the Soviets was being used by the US corporations which wanted to mine West Papua as a Indonesian colony. They needed to scare the US President into creating the illegal New York Agreement.
Well, take a look at the map, it is so clear, how the Australian wanted to capture Papua. Well, Sir, isn't that enough for you to get the Aborigin life. If we want to talk about justice or freedom, than free the aborigine, give the land back, and go back to England.
Indonesia is not Australian; it is a foreign power colonizing West Papua.
Indonesia as a UN member supported UN Resolutions 1514 & 1541 three years before coming the colonial master of West Papua.
Indonesia in Jan/1962 said it would allow a referendum, it has never done so; and the 'Act' in 1969 was not consider any form of Self-determination by the United Nations.
Australia's treatment of its aboriginal inhabitants is a seperate issue. It's true that the aboriginals of Australia have suffered terribly since the arrival of Europeans, and continue to suffer. However, the issue being disscussed in this video relates to the illegal occupation of West Papua by Indonesia and the endemic racism, human rights abuses, and cultural genocide being commited against the Papuan people by TNI, Kopasus and islamic militants sent from west Indonesia.
(I've posted my comment in 2 halfs because I couldn't condence it to under 500 characters)
truthfully there has been a very low level insurgency in the malukku islands but the majority of violence in these islands has been linked to inter-ethnic (and religious) clashes. Having said that, many East-Indonesians complain of being marginalised by the highly 'Javacentric' Jakarta government which favours people from Java, Bali, and sumatra over other ethnic groups.
There are a few untruths and inacuracies which may well be incidental but do not help the West Papuan cause. The majority of Sumatrans (excluding Aceh)have no desire to sepperate from Indonesia. The 'Dayak' people of Borneo also have no desire for a seperate state. Conflicts involving Dayak and non-Dayak (principally Madurese) were caused by the Indonesian government's (western sponsored) transmigrasi programme.
True there are errors in it, there was no military victory as Indonesia claims, the reason America created the New York Agreement trading the people of West Papua to Indonesian colonization was because of Freeport. Why did you think the US silently help Gen. Suharto into power?

Tarhun my brother, you forget to mention the Australian to the aborigine. The point is, we create this war, neither independence nor integration. Why don't we just stop it now and develop Papua. The war only suffers us both & hesitate the development of Papua.
What you consider "development" is also the destruction of Melanesian culture that took tens of thousands of years to develop and is in my view superior to Asian & Western cultures.
genocide of everyone you don't like in the territory you illegally occupied sounds suspiciously like what the Germans did to Jews, Gypsies and Ukrainians in the Holocaust during World War II. Thats not development, not unless you're a supremacist.
Would appreciate feedback about this video. It is the introduction to the OPM message to the United States for 2004, we were hoping to dissuade Mr Bush from resuming US funding of the Indonesian military and jihadist militia conducting the current genocide in West Papua. Any advise how to improve message would be appreciated.
Papua is part of Indonesia since Indonesia proclaimed its freedom!

What has Australia to do with it? Nothing.
It is Indonesia which is the bully-boy for American corporations from Aceh to Papua.
You are speaking like a Freeport employee, a person who wants colonization of Aceh, Borneo, West Papua and the Moluccas.
