Great Video, ive been looking at this particular model of the ruger mark III for a while and i think im pretty close to ordering it. Would u recommend it? and on rugers website they show it with a scope mount on the top, is it removable? Thanks
great video...I have owned my Mark 2 since the 80's and have never took it all the way down, just clean the bolt and barrel. This will help me...Its about time to do it..I have shot the crap out of this gun too !
best disassembly video i've seen so far. one little gripe is the sound. not very clear, can't really hear all the beautiful sounds of the gun. still a great demonstration!
Out of all the videos on here discussing the disassembly of this pistol, your video is the only one that answered the question of why in the hell my bolt wouldn't come out. Thanks Pal!
I dont own a Mk 1, but the difference between the Mk 2 and Mk 3 is; magazine release on Mk 3 is at the base of the trigger guard whereas on the Mk2 it is a catch type latch on the bottom of the pistol grip, there is no loaded chamber indicator on the Mk2, the Mk 3 is drilled and tapped for a Picatinny rail (included in new purschase). Those are all I can think of off hand.. anyone else know???
The Mk 3 "standard" (entry-level, lowest-cost) model isn't drilled or tapped for a scope rail, and the rear sight is fixed, not even adjustable for windage. That said, it's still quite accurate. For more particulars, Wikipedia has a pretty good list of the differences between the models.
am i missing something, i cant remove the barrel from the grip frame. everything else is disassembled. i hit it, it doesnt come loose. i dont want to damage anything either.
Yeah... sorry I did that step out of the video frame. When I first got the pistol, I had to put a towel on the back side of the pistol (to protect the finish) and tap the round part (just behind the rear sight) with a soft mallet. This will allow the barrel section to move forward of the lower pistol section, by about 1/4-1/2 inch. Hold on tight to the pistol grip when you do this.
This may take some "persuasion" the first time or two, but it becomes easier after that.
I always cringe a little when I see a dry fire with no snap cap, poor little firing pin :(

can you please tell me
which caliber handgun ammo is most commonly or mostly available
which caliber machine gun ammo is most commonly or mostly available
dhanedhar 2 years ago
@dhanedhar .22 LR is the most common handgun and rifle ammo by a very large margin.
As for machine gun ammo, well there are .22 caliber machineguns, so the .22 LR wins again.
You have to be more specific in your question. Center Fire? Military? etc

Thanks OrbitalMechanics. This video was much more informative than the Rugar manual.

I believe the mk 1's have a beaver tail type safety on the back, similar but not the same to the ones on the 1911 series

@MrAngryPancreus No they don't, as I used mine last night.

Currently Ruger lists $405 MSRP for this pistol model, but you can find them for less than that.
