Apparently, this movie is either an adaptation -as 1903Jefferies says- nor a remake. An adaptation is a movie, book or play that is based on a particular piece of work but that has been changed for a new situation. A remake is a new or different version of an old movie or song. Therefore Fincher movie is just a product for US people too lazy to read subtitles or to stupid to understand another culture... or both.
Saw an interview before the remake was even made and she said she's happy to pass the role to someone else doin 3 movies as this character prob takes a lot out of u. She played her lisbeth and left it up to the next girl
C-O-N-T-A-G-I-O-U-S !!!!!! (...just a TOTALLY complete contagious personality...SO hope she never loses that now that is in the big playground of Hollywood-LA LA LAND, USA!!)
@wutbothersme actually there was a petition for her to reprise her role again in the remake, but she declined the role, saying she couldn't do it again. So I highly doubt she's pissed
@ClownenJac73 this woman is way too obviously pretty to play a character like Lisbeth. Rooney Mara is just as pretty but its very unique. During the movie you're not begging her to take off her clothes like this girl.
yes she is pretty with this make up, like every woman in the world, but without all this she is okay for lisbeth. but rooney is ugly always, expecially in the movie, lisbeth doesn't have to be beautifull but not that ugly either,
It is! But no excuse fo poor acting (apart from noomi and Nyqvist of course) in the former version. I was really disappointed, since I love the books. So many good swedish actors acting like they're on stage.
@JAT530 It's not a remake! It's an adaption of the book. Directed by David Fincher "Fight Club, Se7en, Social Network". Screenplay adaption by Steven Zaillian "Schindlers List and Gangs of New York". Music by Trent Reznor. Acting by Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara and Christopher Plummer. Are you really foolish enough to dismiss this talent? Really?
@1903Jefferies yes it is the remake of the 2009 swedish film, directed by Niels Arden Oplev with Noomi Rapace here above as the main character. It doesn't diminish Fincher's talent but it is common practice for US filmmaker to remake a successful foreign film because the american audience doesn't like subtitles.
@1903Jefferies Rooney Mara has givng some veary blaned dulll performinces have you seen the movie yet i thought it was preaty good . what you think of Rooney Mara?
@1903Jefferies It is a Remake, if you have seen the other movie ((the Swedish) Man that hate women) then you see that it is allmost the same movie, ergo; a remake not a new adapdation, see the 3 swedish movies befor you comment again, they are better
@Elsnorko I'm suprised you didn't figure this out for yourself. There is a reason why the Swedish version and American version are rather similar; they are based on the same book. The book is the true source of Inspiration for not only the Swedish, but David Fincher as well. Can't you just enjoy both versions. I know I did.
If they had so much talent as you claim they have then they wouldn't have to remake a movie which was made only two years ago. 20 years is a time more appropriate for remakes.
Instead use all that talent to make something original.
Fincher didn't write the book, Neither did the screen writers. Mr Larson did
Elvis Presley became famous for his several covers. Are you really foolish enough to dismiss HIS talent? Or is that something "completely different"?
@WASPTexas I don't understand, you are just confirming my point. Yes Elvis was talented. Even though he didn't write the songs, what he did with the songs was amazing. Same with Fincher. I never said that Fincher wrote the book. Read my comments again, you are all over the shop with your statement.

and around 16 times more money. ~ $90,000,000 vs. ~$5,500,00 is a big difference too.
