No you don't. I have piano, guitar, eletric guitar and singing lessons. Sing like emma is kinda hard, if you try, she breathes a lot and the tune is reeeeeeeally low for a woman.
This song is awesome, her work is awesome and YES she has a lot of musical knowledge, even before the SG she had singing lessons.
Check songs like this one, "breathing", "downtown" , "crickets for anamaria" and "maybe". They are great!

She has no musical knowledge at all , being able to sing a little is NOT having musical knowledge , and " Downtown " was witten by another man , and was a hit for Petula Clark . Let's be honest. When the beatles started out they wern't that brilliant musically either, from a technical peerspective.
But you also have to appreciate that Emma is better than many of her generation. I am sure if you want to find supersingers from the 60s then yes, she is not better than Olivia Newton John doing slow music, true.
And yes if you find the original 60s music it will be better. But it was a brave attempt by her to introduce new "old style" songs to a young audience.

Even the Beatles at their worst , were a thousand times better than EB . It's an unfair comparison actually , like comparing a primary one pupil to a university professor . Why doesn't she introduce her own " classics " and perform those same classics with her own hands on real instruments ( like the Beatles did at 16 ) ..We both know the answer don't we ..because she can't , just like Boyzone , Take that , Beyonce, Sugarbabes , Pussycat Dolls , Madonna , ..etc etc .
