Hey, I have a question, how do you set the white balance if you want to take a picture where part of it shows outside and the other shows the inside of your room while keeping the correct tones in both parts of the picture so it doesnt look blue on one side of the picture and yellow on the other side?
@crazu00 Hey good question! You would have to put colored gels over the interior lighting so that it matched the same white balance as outside. Or you can do what I would do, which would be to take two pictures on a tripod with the two WB settings, then selectively combine them in Photoshop by using layer masks.
@Supercon57 Thanks! I couldn't find anything in YouTube's TOS discussing affiliate links though. Could you provide proof, referring me to a particular section of the TOS?
Really informative and straight to the point. Thank you for sharing your expertise, it has really helped me getting to know my new dslr and how it works. :)
Trouble was, I wanted to take all these cool shots, and I had all these great ideas... but I didn't know how to get started... and I didn't think I had all the specialist equipment I'd need...
I am thinking of taking up photography and your videos have really helped me. I thank you for uploading and look forward to checking out some more of your vids.
@unseenreaper17 Go to the Nikon website and look at the ones with low prices. Those are the beginner DSLRs that I would recommend. Talk to a guy at a camera shop if you want more help, he can give you the info you need much faster face-to-face, and you can try out the cameras right there :)
@samantube1983 Ultimately I don't know, but it should be supported by the newest version for sure (CS5.5). Try updating the software or perhaps installing NEF profiles or something - need to look somewhere else friend
You are awesome, kicked back and easy to understand and learn from. Thank you so much for making these videos...and I just loved the bloopers at the end, very cute and fun! Keep 'em coming!
Really well made and thought out. You need to make all these into a downloadable dvd and then sell it. You deserve the credit for making many complicated issues seem easy. I like to shoot moving aircraft and birds at high speed shutters - is this something you would consider in the future as I can shoot the birds, but there is not enough light getting through and that is giving me dark shorts. Am using the basic Sony A100 with 75-300 lens on, but not getting in right. keep it up. Kev
Thank You for your amazing tutorials!! Just got a Nikon3100 last week and I've been watching a couple of videos but yours are the best BY FAR! Please PLEASE add more soon!! THANKS!!
Hi.. I find your videos very interesting and helpful. I don't have a white balance card or a white balance cap. I tried with a tissue paper, which worked out well. How advisable is to use a tissue paper?
Thanks for doing these videos. Yours are the best I've seen so far on understanding the basics, including the professional videos that Canon puts out on youtube.com.
Can you make more videos like this and part 1? These helped me alot..im new to photography and these really help. I really want to get into photography
@DramaaV2 Yes. Part III is coming sooner or later, might make a DVD too. Part three will be just me showing you different examples of how to use aperture/iso/shutterspeed and also how to use light etc. in these situations
i like that you make every tut easy and understandable. waiting for next one. and one quick question- how to shoot on snow, early in the morning with the street lights- when it's very-very yellow
@marioKhom Well if it is really yellow, I'd set the WB to Tungsten/Incadescent, or just get a gray card (or a white piece of paper) and just take a custom WB. If you have PS or Lightroom, just take the picture using Tungsten as the WB and then adjust then fine-tune the WB later on the computer until it looks good. Hope this helps
