  • If i'm not mistaking I'm So Proud," is performed with Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions.

  • @veganboxer

    Oohhh sorry your majesty

  • What's that puke that plays before the song? SUCH SHIT IS IRRITATING!

  • The song...not the video. Damn, I can't believe that this is not what we all is listenin" to.

  • @badmuthafunkaable

    Whats wrong with my video?

    :D

  • @brightlights456X I didn't mean anything negative about the video. I just love the song.

  • @badmuthafunkaable

    Don't worry. I'm just teasing

  • A Bronx Tale

  • This was in a place and time when black folks loved one another! I truly missed those days.

  • The Doctorate is in Educational Leadership.

  • This is awesome. Does it ever bring back memories. A good friend sent this to me because I graduate Saturday, May 21, 2011 with my Doctorate

  • @CeeCee1758

Doctorate in what? How old are you?

  • stphtn12 too many of todays artists are known for their sexuality and

visual appeal rather than for their music. spngs like this you

can sing along to. this is the kind of music that will last long

after an artists sex appeal and media favorite fame disappears.

by the way thanks for this post by a great artist!

  • I love how the images you used. Nice job.

  • rosie's version i'm used to so this songs a lil wierd

  • @diegoadelgado

Whos this Rosie you speak of?

  • @brightlights456X rosie & the originals - i'm so proud

  • @diegoadelgado

Cheers. I never knew about them.

  • @brightlights456X what is the song for the first 22 seconds. Who's the artist.

  • @Thedarksecret1 Amerie all i need

  • Yeah, this song goes hard for sure. This is how you sweep a woman off of her feet.

  • Just in case the heading has confused anyone, this is the original recording by the Impressions. Curtis Mayfield was the composer and lead singer of the trio which included Sam Gooden and Fred Cash.

  • When this was played in the Dance Halls, it was magic. Mr. Mayfield made the teenage guys grab the special girl gently and dance with her like she was a princess even if she wasn't his girl. Usually though, they picked a special girl for this dance. Curtis Mayfield and the Impression could not and never did anything wrong musically. They were decent guys too. Love this with all my heart and even better, they were Chicago guys. Thanks for the upload. :D

  • Believe it or not, there actually was a time when all of our R&B singers weren't in their late teens or early twenties. Check out the age on most of these dudes rolling old school, and understand that they got better the longer they were in the game...

  • @Oldskoolibra Many soul legends very young with first success. Curtis was 16 when "For Your Precious Love" hit and by the time he was 21 he had written and recorded several hits for The Impressions and other artist. He was 22 when this charted. Gladys Knight 17 with her first hit, Wilson Pickett 19, Supremes were 19 & 20, Ronald Isley 18 when "Shout" hit, Stevie Wonder, Dee Dee Sharp & Barbara Mason teenage stars also, list goes on and on. It was the quality and longevity of the artist.

  • @luvureally And may I add. Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5, Aretha Franklin, Carla Thomas, and Jimi Hendrix.

  • @marie7404 Indeed you may!

  • It sounds Christmassy!

  • great song the first 22 seconds suck ass

  • great song and i happen to like this video dont know who did it

  • This is such a beautiful song and the video was just icing on the cake!!!!

  • This was when our beautiful black men loved US!

  • @Man6858 Well I love my woman: Dunno who you were referring to....? Great video Brightlitghts!

  • @Man6858 We still do sis. In all of or ignorance and foolishness you still put up with us. If we as black men really knew who we are and who you are, we would make a change over night and honor and respect you as it should be. You are the Mother of civilization. Much love from a blackman who is in the process learning who you really are.

  • 1:17 = WTF????

  • Amerie - All I Need

    LOVE IT :-)

  • luv this! thanks for posting

  • I'm sending this to my babe..

  • Recording is by The Impressions. Mayfield was primary lead singer & songwriter.

  • still loving you and your music. Thanks for the great gift. Sorry about your accident. contact me anytime from above. This is my favorite song. So beautiful. Thinking of you all the time.

  • Is a very truly song for a couple in love. Personally is a jewel of song. Today I always expecting for the new kids in the block respond with something that make sense. And, every 5 years they make some good.

  • My MOM used to sing this around the house with her beautiful saprano voice Miss You Mom!!!!!!

  • to all you lads that tack it for granted, if you have her let her know it .

  • PLAY THIS AT MY WEDDING,

  • that picture of rihanna and chris during the part where curtis sings "if you were ever untrue" was too wrong. does anyone know the song that plays at the beginning?

  • It's Amerie. It's either one of two songs.

All I need or Why don't we fall in love

  • @brightlights456X It's All I need...I love that song

  • Curtis lived in Sandy Springs (ATL) GA. I worked at the KFC in that area and he use to come there every so often this was the early 80s. He use to drive up in a blue Rolls Royce. He would always get the 21 piece barrel. I even got his autograph on a KFC napkin. he was a real down to earth brother. The song "Think" off the superfly album is still my favorite Curtis tune. Beyonce sampled this song. RIP Curtis

  • This is a nice song! and I also really liked looking at the slide show pics very amazing!

  • Don't mention it:D

  • This is such a lovely song !

    Thanks to a good friend

  • this old school is really some good music.

  • Cute video. Good job editing, so that the images go well w/ the lyrics of the song.

  • Thanks:)

  • great man wasn't he

  • can you tell me the title of the song before please?

sorry I'm Italian, I can't speak English very well! :-)

  • The first song is by Amerie and is called "All I need".

  • brings tears to my eyes everytime i hear this song, reminds me of my ex wife still love her to bits

  • This is true music, soul music. When things are done from within, artistically, with no ulterior motives (such as sales, and fame) you get this king of product. That's what lacks from mainstream garbage we get nowadays, so its great to sit and listen to this once in a while.

  • @kayolekenya I so agree with you.

  • whats up with that at 233 is that a cheaters move omgoodness

    gamagan1

  • what a beautiful song...my god! yes i realize that the evolution of music has derived from this...i grew up listening to it so i have a great appreciation for it..but in all truthfulness the music that has come out nowadays doesnt have the heart as it does during this time frame...so i do like to return to an era that wasnt my own...

  • Very pretty song and cute video!! Love the Obama pictures too!!!

  • Thanks:D

  • I wonder if young people today realize how much their music rests on great composers like Curtis Mayfield? Everything is evolutionary.

  • I think so, thats why so many sample from past artists. Even dance move that Beyonce or MJ do/did are from bye-gone eras.

  • hopfully if not now maybe one day

    gamgan1

  • AMEN !!!!

  • Curtis At His Best !

  • wow i feel like crying timeless peice by curt well put together the pictures fit right in

    gamagan1

  • that last picture of obama looks like adam sandler

  • Really:/

  • love that song, but i would rather see Curtis instead of the video that was done. Curtis was great would be nice for some of the younger people to see the real artist.

    Great music. So much soul.

  • I'll try and find a live video. If I do I'll let you know.

  • whats that on the intro

  • Amerie "All I Need"

  • I love this song ever since I heard it in the movie A Bronx Tale. I would sing this for my girl if she was honestly in love with me. Just to make it special I would sing it to her on her birthday.

  • ....only if you can honestly sing.

  • my baby sung this song to me when i was down-- good looking--udig
