Great to see those two elite grapplers train. I don't care if they weren't going full tilt every second, we are watching two of the top humans near that weight. Askren was good but not great at takedowns in college wrestling. He improved for the olympic team, but he was freakishly inventive and good at ground scrambling, that's why he is learning BJJ so quickly. His original style was very efficient and direct, purpose oriented to begin with. Shields is ultra-experienced.

Jujitsu and wrestling are very different.. in a submission grappling match its very understandable that shields who has great wrestling and is a bjj bb would have the advantage.. @oakmantex I don't think Ben actually medalled at the '08 Olympics; he lost to Cuba in the round of 8. That being said, it is phenomenal to even make the Olympic team, and have the record he did through college at Mizz; he is one of the best wrestlers around. I agree with you, for Jake to be able to hang with him is a testament to Jake's BJJ and overall tenacity/work ethic.

As hard as Jake works on this I would love to see more of him getting hit. The more you get hit now the better it will be in the fight for the belt. Put on the head gear and gloves and swing away. Watching the punches looked all arm but it was round 10. I would like to see more torque of his body into the punch. Start the punch with the toes not the back/arm. (I know what he does works) But improvement is always a good thing.
