  • I break my pasta in half all the time! Your not alone. Thank you for your awesome pasta sauce recipe. :)

  • Hello Betty. I make homemade sauce, but I use canned tomatoes. I will try with fresh. I love your sweet disposition and your practical, delicious and thorough, fail-proof instruction. I actually watch you when I'm in a funk to cheer me up and put me in the mood for cooking. It really is cathartic. Like samgower said, I cannot believe anyone would criticize you over something so silly, but I guess when you open yourself to the public it's expected. Thanks again! You're so inspiring!

  • Hai Betty im just watching some vids ive seen many times before you already know i like to do that, and i just wanted to say that i love how you dont care about people critizising your spaghetti breaking, stick to your own ways cus you are such an amazing chef :D

    xoxo Sylvano

  • @gmani1082 Thanks for your lovely comment! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • This sauce looks amazing! I recognize some of your techniques, such as adding onions the sauce. My grandpa always does that. Also, me and my mom always break the spaghetti, it makes it easier to cook and stir. And i love the addition of green pepper in the sauce, it sound delicous!!

  • @fignewtonproduction2 Thanks for your nice comment! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • @eLfuTaChee I am glad to share recipes with all of you. Too bad that I can't actually feed you!

    --Betty :)

  • You make great videos. Don't apologize in them for the way you do things. It's YOUR video. I watch your video to see how YOU do things. Who cares about how other people do things. If I want another opinion I'll watch someone else's video as well. So don't let the negative comments change your videos. thanks for sharing!

  • @DanceSexy101 Thanks for your sweet comment! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • it looks great :) just to add for any veggies out there, it isn't a vegetarian dish if you add the parmesan at the end.

  • @HotCurryPot That's true; it is a dish that you can convert to vegetarian very easily!

    --Betty :)

  • I break my spaghetti too, it doesn't change anything, just makes it more manageable.

    This sauce looks amazing.

  • @jessthoren Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • i break my spaghetti ALL the time..it's appropriate for cooking at home:)

  • @Mokambigai Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Yeah.. as if breaking pasta apart changes their nutritional value lol =/

  • Great stuff Betty

  • This looks awesome!! Going to make this soon...

    Thanks Betty!! ;)

  • Hey Betty - If used dried herbs instead of fresh do I use the same amount as fresh or what do I need to do?

  • @jonineese If you use dried herbs, use only 1/3 the amount of fresh herbs.

    --Betty :)

  • i love the way u plate ur food. it's just so lovely =)

  • i bet that sauce is freakin awesome =) im gonna try it. btw, i tried 2 of ur recipes!!! oh yea!!! and the thing is i dont cook. u so inspired me. thx. i did one of ur chicken casseroles and the cheeseburger casserole. heehee. casseroles are easy breezy. thx babe!

    --Betty :)

  • thank you so much Betty for showing this recipe:) I can see you going very far into the cooking business, so keep doing what you do best:) Thanks again!

    Ricky:)

  • It looks delicious! Don't pay attention to what anyone else thinks. You eat three meals a day, yea? Nothing wrong with that and a few snacks. They probably eat just as much, if not more, than you do! Always looking for a reason to complain...

  • don't break spaghetti !! or the spirit of linguines will eat you : ) good sauce, congratulations

  • Thats so funny! I break my spaghetti in 3 parts! I have been doing that since my kids were little because it is less of a mess and just easier to eat! Great recipe and thanks for the videos!

  • This looks delicious! :D

I'm not much of a cook, but I wanna taste this, might be givvin' it a try!

    Thanks for the video :)

  • Thanks for this recipe. It was delicious! My husband and young girls really liked it :)

  • @jjemglitters Thanks for your wonderful feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Hi,

i like the green peppers in the sauce!

another yum yum dish from Betty's Kitchen!

btw. who cares about breaking the pasta? It doesn't hurt the dish!

    Joe from Germany

  • @JoeHell67 Hi Joe! It's nice to hear from you! I hope all is well. Thanks for your nice comment on the spaghetti recipe. I hope you enjoy it!

    Take care,

    --Betty from Kentucky :)

  • Thank you Betty! Looks yummy!

  • some criticized you for breaking the noodles?

I do that too.. I find it it's easier to eat b/c the fork grabs it in a bite size amount. :)

    yumm

  • that got me hungry

  • your top notch betty! this looks so good im going to have to try this and your apple dumplins they look so good too! me and my mom eat some old fashion apple dumplins around 3 years ago and have sence been on the look out for a recipe for some like them and no recipe we found were the one we wanted but i think this is the one! lol thanks for doing this for us to enjoy!!! love your videos

  • I break my spaghetti too!! Actually I break it 3 times because I will be too lazy to cut it later...and I dont twirl like Itailans....LOL. Looks yummy!

  • you made me want to go make spaghetti at 11:10 at night....1 min too 11:11!!!! i can wish for some spaghetti:)))

  • Aunt Betty, this looks great. I've gotta try it sometime!!

  • Wow, I didn't realise people actually criticised you about breaking spaghetti in half! I mean, come on that's just silly! Furthermore, I loved the way you responded by saying sorry, as if to say, "Sorry you don't like it but I'm gonna do it anyway! Don't mess with Betty peeps! ;)

  • your sauce would be good for other things too Betty like ravioli. looks delicious! thank you.

  • Your not the only one that brakes the spaghetti noodles. I do it everytime I make spaghetti. :)

  • Is that a Stove on the Counter?

  • @PrivateSeverGM My stove top is on the outer counter, and my oven is on the other side of the room. There is no cooktop on the center island. I probably had a mat there that I put the hot spaghetti sauce on.

    --Betty :)

  • Looks great! and you are correct the seed package for Roma tomatoes indicates they are great for sauce and canning... they tend to have a bit more meat than other tomatoes... Next time I make spaghetti I am going to have to make it from scratch now that I see how easy it looks! Thanks for sharing look goooooooooood!

  • P.S. I break my pasta as well! :)

  • Hi Betty, I love you, ur videos & recipes! (I will be trying this one for sure) don't pay any attention to people thoughts about You & ur family's eating amounts. You can do & eat what you want. Luv ya :)

  • I love this. Quick and easy. By the way Betty that top you are wearing is lovely :-)

  • Yummy♥

  • i love how you addressed the criticism lol

  • Betty . those tomatoes and sauce look great! you can break your spaghetti if you want to.have a great day!

  • Actually Betty cooks good portions. What sucks is when you go to other peoples house and they serve such tiny portions and you are left all hungry. With Betty you can guarantee a full tummy. Her serving sizes are excellent for a man. Rick knows this. And Betty eats her own food that she does not show. She eats mostly diet food.

  • Thanks for the recipe, Betty! Nice and easy :)

  • looks great and I always break my spaghetti and I agree Roma have more flavour for cooking, I will try this once i make a trip to the nursery for the herbs i dont have lol oh by the way made the carrot cake with my son haven't iced it yet but ran out of icing sugar

  • I need a spaghetti fix right now this looks delicious. I love your accent btw just read me the phone directory

  • This looks so good!! I guess I'm hungry for spaghetti. I always break mine in half too..so much easier and it tastes the same..lol!! Enjoy! Sally :)

  • @memyselfandINICH Actually, I am a bit of a clean freak--not obsessively, though.

    --Betty :)

  • @xduskxsummerx I left the seeds in; they don't bother us. If you like it better with the seeds removed, or if it's for a special occasion, you should remove the seeds.

    --Betty :)

  • Breaking the spaghetti just quickens the process, it still tastes the same! :) Betty you should smack the complainers down on the head with some stiff Linguine!!!

  • hi betty,

    I'm the "pre-heat" comment guy

Stay strong ..don't faulter ..we're all just a bunch of nitt-pickers

    Love your videos

  • @dapappacn That's funny! I wouldn't have lasted on YouTube if I were terribly sensitive. I've heard it all. I don't mind--really.

    --Betty :)

  • betty.. love this video.. i don't like when people say you and your family eats to much. they must not know you have family there with you. i dont like negative things about you. i get defensive :) you are the best betty!!!!!! thanks and you look soo pretty. :)

  • @notnormalbuzz Thanks, Ben; you are so sweet. You are so supportive and so inspirational! I always appreciate you!

    --Betty :)

  • I break my spaghetti, too, Betty! : )

  • dont worry betty!!

your food always looks delicious! and i bet it taste delicious to :)

do thing the way you like it and the way ur family enjoys it

if somebody doesnt like a step they can just skip it :)

tysm betty for ur effort and for uploading so many videos!!

you give us so many ideas with thing sthat we can actually find

ty for ur time and ty to rick to!:P

  • @Monica1810 Thanks for your sweet comment! I love cooking for people like you!

    --Betty :)

  • I would LOOOOOOOVE to have an herb garden !!! Fresh ingredients always taste better than canned, so I know for a fact that this recipe is delicious! Thank you for sharing this delicious recipe with us, I'm putting all of the ingredients on the grocery list so that my mom and I can make this dish!

  • Another tip, white balance your camera. It doesn't look like it's white balanced, that's why the food looks a little weird.

  • I prefer to not break mine, but my mom always broke it... whatever, it tastes the same! :o) This is similar to my sauce, but I add carrots & mushrooms to it (because that is my personal preference). After watching this I think I'm going to have to make some spaghetti this week!

Don't let anybody's criticism bother you, Betty. I like to call it keyboard courage. I guarantee if you were making this meal for them, that person would not say one word about your "broken" noodles!

  • Betty-made this today after getting video and my roommate ate the whole platter..i got a serving =]

We're going to make a double order of this tomorrow.

    You're awesome!!

  • @nathuwjohn Thanks for the great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty, Thank you so much for making vegetarian spaghetti. That is my preferance !! I can't make a good meatball. LOL Your sauce seems so pure and clean. I will be making it. I check everyday for my Bettyskitchen fix !! I planted a herb garden thru your inspiration. Now with this sauce recipe I get to use them. I even cut the herbs and placed on a dish for air freshner because they smelled soooo great !! Sue

  • Betty - this looks delicious, and so healthy and light. I started breaking my pasta when my kids were young.......now my youngest is 25 and I will never stop doing it!! Thanks for all your hard work and for all you do for your viewers!

  • I'm going to make this some time this week. Thank you Betty.

  • This looks so delicious and I am definately going to be making it for my family.

  • Hi Betty. Gee that looks so good...very fresh. I wanted to mention that both sides of my family originated in Italy...and ya know what? I break my spaghetti too! I started doing it when my kids were little, as it is easier for them to eat that way. Then we got so we enjoyed less struggle too, so we just kept breaking it. It's about having a nice pleasant meal with your family...even if its only canned soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. You do a fabulous job, I'd love to eat at your house.

  • Lovely recipe Mrs. Betty!! I do enjoying making Spaghetti, but I'm going to have to try and make my own sauce!!

  • This looks.........yummmmmmmmmmmm!! Love your vid's. What is the name of the song during the intro. Love it! Hope you're having a great summer. Caught your vid. of the moonbow. we live not so far from cumberland falls.

  • looks yummy, thanks for sharing

  • after peeling the tomatoes, i also de-seed them... i've always hated having seeds in my sauce (weird, i know) but anyway, i love your vids! do you know how to make mexican pizza?

  • Betty, you did it again....another hit! Can't wait to make it at home. I was wondering after the tomatoes have been peeled and are ready to be chopped do you seed the tomatoes?

  • Betty this looks so delicious as well as a healthy meal choice with all the herbs added.

Thank you for sharing this recipe another MUST TRY!!

btw...I break my spaghetti in half as well it falls in the hot water better and cooks faster.

  • Looks good Betty. Question for ya. Is there a reason you didn't put the tomato's in a blender? Would that mess them up?

BTW, I break my speghetti too! Makes it much easier to cook. LOL!

  • That looks absolutely wonderful. You are a true role model, Betty! I hope to become a wife like you one day, providing for my family a fresh and healthy meal. I'm so glad I stumbled across this channel the other day. I am really enjoying your videos.

  • Betty you always make everything look so beautiful~~~~

thank you for your consistency with your meals for us...

*i went on the Oprah web site-i am pretty new to your channel-but i think the voting was over??

  • Only thing I'd add is some thyme -- this looks great, thanks for the recipe and the tomato peeling tip!

  • Hi Betty...I can barely keep up with you and all of your great recipes! Looks like you've done it again...Thanks for sharing!

  • Now i am hungry.

  • I break my spaghetti also, its easier to eat that way.

  • thanks betty

  • ...i also break my spaghetti pasta...!

  • Alot better than the canned stuff...This looks really good and not to difficult! Thanks Betty!!!

  • That's exactly how i make my tomato sauce... but i use canned italian tomatoes, because german garden tomatoes usually don't have enough flavour to cook sauces with...

  • fresher, healthier, and better tasting than canned pasta sauce. the good thing about a sauce like this is you can change it to your tastes. thank you betty and for the easy way to peel tomaotes. do you ever show like how to grill or cook on a camp fire?

  • @calsweet Thanks for your nice comment! I haven't been camping in a long time, but if Rick and I decide to go camping, you can be sure I will bring my camera along! I will be doing more summer grill food at home that would be appropriate for grilling on a camp fire.

    --Betty :)

  • This is one of my favourite dishes and this one looks delicious. :)

  • Guy's Not everyone is the same.people do things differently.don't get so worked up just because you expect people to do things "originally"

i don't find breaking apart pastas like spaghetti, linguine etc any wrong.

what matters is,the food you are eating is appetizing, looks good, taste good, nutritional, healthy.

Betty's using her time, effort and heart to make videos & upload them almost everyday so that we youtubers have a chance to watch her videos&learn.so lets watch instead of arguing =)

  • @derekbegins Thanks so much for your comment! It is very nice to know that you are concerned about how I might feel about comments that question my decisions on how to prepare wholesome food.

    --Betty :)

  • @derekbegins I agree with everything your wrote and thank you very much for speaking up. I break pasta in half all the time. My mother always did it and so do many, many other people.

  • @TheMRamstaff its for aesthetic purposes besides, its a matter of opinion there isn't really a right way (but i do have to say mixing the sauce in the pan is more efficient) but if you did the recipe you could do whatever you want with it.

  • @Mawiely Thanks for your nice comment! I appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • I always break my spaghetti! Its easier to eat in my opinion!

  • I can't eat spaghetti, but your video inspired me to have Ranch Style Eggs for breakfast! I think it was the tomatoes. Mmmmmm =d

  • y mix my sauce with the mixer , y like it very very thin:d

  • my sisters also break their spaghetti

  • @liahbeah1314 i break them, too. i just think it's easier getting the noodels into the pot when they're not that long. :)

  • MAMMA MIA! I can almost taste it! Thanks so much.

  • I break mine apart as well. I am not sure what the big deal is about that. This looks so good. Thanks!

  • I love spaghetti! Could you possibly make a video for us meat eaters though? Thanks Betty!!! You are awesome!!!
