love this song, but where are the synths in the video? are they really trying to convince us they are making all that music with guitars and drums? lol.
LOL good one that made me laugh simon cowell on the drums lmfao!! I actually did talk with the real Manny Elias on facebook. were friends on there and we chatted a few times. he's a really sweet guy and he always reply's to his fans E-mails
Great version of Mothers Talk, i think it's the US mix....it's very difficoult to say which is the best version between this and the original in the album SFTBC, i like very much the voice effects....
Anyway, another masterpiece of my favourite band!!
Oh my God, Men in Black but so much better, they're hot. I like them very much, they're great. Wow. And this was the first version of this song, after came the rockest version.
yeah nice getting a hold on this one it must have been hard. But i like tears for fears im just not obsessed ya know. Curt and Roland were in a band called Graduate with the guys from "Naked Eyes".
Sure it's not later, like '86, '87? I don't think they had these hairstyles so early as '84...
I know the first version was probably '84 but I'm sure this was later?
Someone was saying on here this was the last clip with all members on it, well it's got to be later than '85 because everyone was on Shout & Head Over Heels.
This is an awesome video but is it possible to consider this the last "complete" Tears for Fears video because this is the last video with everyone in the original line-up.
This was the BEST version of this song and video. I only remember seeing it once, and then they started playing the other version all the time. Did this come from a DVD, and if it did, please tell us the name of it.
met curt once in New York City, was da kooolest moment of my life as a teenager-couldnt believe it when u meet a member of ur favorite band, who just hapenned to be shopping alone near my work place-awesome-1989 or 1999
curt was kool-he stuck his hand out to me for a hand shake-it was like wow CURT SMITH? he said YUP! i couldnt tbelieve i was shakeing n talking to the guy from my favorite band-Great moment
According to a radio interview segment I have from 1986, they took a break during the winter of `85-`86, then went into the studio to record this version of "Mothers Talk" for release in the Spring of 1986. And this video was filmed during that time.
And I love the ending... they're annihilated while acting cheerfully and throwing up "V" for victory, DESPITE all their earlier preparations in the video (and vain attempts by the father to ignore and whitewash the situation). In short, society has met its end in a nuclear strike despite the empty "attempts" by world leadership to avert such a thing. This is such an interesting video! It begs much discussion! Anybody? Bueller? Bueller? :-)
This is actually from 1986. They re-recorded it and produced this new video for release in the U.S. And I disagree with the previous poster that this isn't up to their standards; there is SO MUCH meaning and symbolism in these images! Take the time to really check it out, it's great.
Yeah, this sure takes me back - they just don't make 'em like they used to - so much original raw talent those guys had, and Roland, talk about one sexy bad-ass dancer to boot! I get a hard-on just watching him (oh, and Curt's no slouch either!)
Wow! I remember this song back in the 80's. I luv this song, it rocks! Watching the vid brought back memories how lots of british bands than wore black. It was really cool than. I Luv Roland's dance moves, so cool & so 80's. No one moves like that anymore. I miss the 80's & it's unique music sounds!
Tears for Fears re-formed in 2004 and just toured last summer in a couple of small concerts. Curt Smith (bassist) released a new album about a month ago called "Halfway Pleased"

Notice Simon Cowell manning the drums there on 56 seconds. I always wondered what he did before Pop Idol.

Love this version.
It captures the whole Nuclear Fear of the mid 1980s with the emerging East-end Brit pop thing without realizing it.
