What Nintendo needs to do is what Sega is doing with the latest Sonic but take it to the next level. Two selectable modes: Classic or Modern in the same game. The Classic mode would be just like how Bionic Commando Rearmed is. Modern would be Metroid Prime style. Then I wouldn't feel ripped for paying $60 on a new game...

the whole sidescroller on a 3d engine gives the potential for a much more dynamic game han the traditional 2D randering engines could. check out a not well known game for the N64 called Mischief Makers (i think the JP name is Doki Doki Trouble makers! i'm probably wrong tho) thats a great 2d platformer ueing 3d graphics.
All I have to say, is they need to do a remake of Super Metroid with kick ass graphics, bigger areas, and a narrative like Zero Mission with cut scenes, and Nintendo will have the best game ever made. Even if they make it in 3D it would be bomb.

Sounds like console fanboyism and yet another graphics over gameplay argument. Surely you remember the time where graphics were merely blocks of color without shading or 3d rendering or any of the fancy stuff. By the gameplay back then was great. Without gameplay you might as well have a movie not a game.
XBox 360 and PS3 are merely for games that look great, but have bad gameplay, Role Playing Games and First Person Shooters. The ONLY saving grace either system has is the Assassin's Creed series because it falls under neither RPG or FPS and still manages to be a good game.
@KitsuneGeneral I gotta agree with you on that one.. I know it's a matter of personal taste but Wii had more "fun factor" than PS3. I only use my PS3 to watch Blu-rays nowadays, while it's covered in dust with all these mediocre FPS I got tired of in 2 days.
@KitsuneGeneral Ah come on, there are so many interesting titles out there nowadays. The PS3 has Little Big Planet and Flower, for example. XBOX360 has Limbo. Mirrors Edge would also be one of them. There are a ton of games with good gameplay AND nice graphics out there. You just have to look for them.
nintendo made alot of cash with the wii because of... well, casual games like wii sports (also called games for "retarded" people by most of the true gaming community, including myself), but there was also the price. Expensive hardware and more graphics makes the console expensive, so having less graphics would mean you can sell a console for a lower price, thus more people would buy it.

EVERY TWO MONTHS. Buying a PS2 just for that is not gaming, same goes for buying a Wii for Wii Sports or Wii Play or buying a 360 just to play every FPS that comes out. BTW, i love old games.

nintendo made alot of cash with the wii because of... well, casual games like wii sports (also called games for "retarded" people by most of the true gaming community, including myself), but there was also the price. Expensive hardware and more graphics makes the console expensive, so having less graphics would mean you can sell a console for a lower price, thus more people would buy it.

then again, you're not a true gamer if you're stuck in ONE genre. In my country some people only buy PS2 just for soccer games (it's a national passion, but still...), some people, my brother included, BUY mods for the same price as original games just because they have up-to-date teams... EVERY TWO MONTHS. Buying a PS2 just for that is not gaming, same goes for buying a Wii for Wii Sports or Wii Play or buying a 360 just to play every FPS that comes out. BTW, i love old games.
