  • 35 personas son poperos

  • el mejor solo del mundo siii

  • Love the riff at 6:13 :)

  • Song starts at 4:49

  • He always plays this song, but i never get the same sensation when i listen to it, and i think that's why eric jhonson is amaizing!!!

  • magic!

  • Eric Johnson + SG = PERFECTION!

  • @awfulguitarplucker I concur

  • hope that guitar is over 18 lol

  • Eric Johnson is a badass and 35 wack off to pokemon porn

  • love this song! the bass player looks like a muppet! lol

  • looks like he found a LP/SG with as fat a neck as could be had...why Gibson does not make a fat necked SG/LP is a bitter pill.

  • @talpajam It's a '63 or'64 SG Standard. I have one that looks exactly it. Right down to the broken tip on the pick guard & the missing whammy bar.

And yes, that wide but flat (not fat) neck is sweet.

  • hmm... he sure is a great guitarist

but to me the first 5 minutes of this are almost completely unnecessary

(in contrast to the shirt) ;)

  • Is that shirt necessary?

  • @shanjesnen Matches the highlights in his hair o.O

  • yes, is FUCKING GREAT SONG thanks Eric johnson.

  • GO ERIC!!!!

  • Better than Slash xD

  • QUE PUTERÍAAAAA LOCO !!!!!!!

  • WHAT N AMAZING,WONDERFULL, LOVELY, BERRAQUERA DE CANCIÓN Y COMO TOCA ERIC, LO MÁXIMO!!!!!

  • Прекрасная музыкальная зарисовка

  • eargasm

  • All He Needs Is His Guitar In His Hands, And One Set Of Drums To Play This Amazing Song That He Made, Thumbs Up For ERIC !

  • @MrDontBhatin There's a bassist up there too :)

  • @GibsonTick I Know But Have You Noticed He Doesn't Even Need The Bassist?

  • @MrDontBhatin Sure he does!

  • somebody really yelled out acdc lol

  • one of these days, ima be able to do that

  • Fuckin beautiful:)

  • ... I thought tis HAD to be played on a Strat...... I stand corrected......

  • @leaningright252 Eric Johnson could play this in a fucking spatula. The man's a beast.

  • @leaningright252 lol cliffs of dover was originally recorded on an ES-335, it just goes to show you can play any type of music on any type of instrument

  • @RichardKovacsics not quite

  • Intro reminds me of Allan Holdsworth

  • Such beautiful TONE and flawless technique. Man I love the way this guy plays from the heart.

  • and as guitar tone goes, nobody even touches this guy.

  • @bandarna I would say Andy Timmons is right up there with Eric. Maybe better, it's all opinion I guess.

  • what is the introduction music?? it`s really smooth, i like it.

  • Who is the Bass player on this one? I love the sound of his bass, the busy bass lines without interfering or taking the limelight out of EJ. Beautiful..

  • @jeremiahjay777 Chris Maresh is the bassist. We saw these guys a couple of weeks ago in Modesto CA. Awesome. Chris does stuff on the bass I've never seen or heard, so these two make a great fit. Both incredible.

  • @BJMAC911 The bass lines is awesome..I'm really amazed with the notes very busy but sufficient. Thanks man

  • 5:10 started song xD

  • Goddamn he sounds the same on a strat and an SG :(

  • @EkonEzung yep, its the player not the instrument

  • @CliffieCharles Amen to that mate !

  • @EkonEzung As far as I know he recorded most of the original on a Gibson ES335. But yeah, no matter what he plays, the tone stays the same

  • 3:37 peep!

  • nice to see him play a sg,,gibson for life!!!!!!!!!!

  • The melodic intro can only be discribed with one big word : Mastery !!!!!!!!

  • O Sr. Eric tem um timbre e uma carcteristica sonora e melodica inconfundiveis

  • which pixel is eric?

  • @AttackTheBank what?

  • @cbcrt2005 It's a joke that the video quality is awful.

  • @AttackTheBank the only one

  • @AttackTheBank it aint THAT bad lookin.

  • awesome!

    and thats a nice SG!

  • little beatles reference in the introduction

  • @standalone8844 yeah i thought i heard "yesterday" in there...

  • Probably the smoothest guitar playing I've ever heard. I love guys like Vai, EVH, Satch & Gilmour, but Eric Johnson is so DAMN good!

  • @1971Goldtop It adds nothing to the piece, and really takes away from EJ's performance overall.

  • I love watching this, this is a HUGE middle finger to everyone who thinks that SG's can't do anything. :) (& yes, I DO own an SG) :)

  • That guitar looks so badass, and that song is so beautiful!!!

  • cliffs of dover with an SG? how unorthodox. amazing but wouldve sounded better on one of his strats

  • @b0njov1 Supposedly the original studio recording was done on an ES-335.

  • @VolkOseba correct it was recorded on a Gibson ES-335, and I happen to own one, very beautiful sound comes from it

  • damn - sounded a little bonamassa-ish there... nice.

  • @GtrDudeL I think Bonamassa copied EJ's sound.....not the other way around. They're still both great players IMO....and humble too, met Joe at an amp convention which happened down the street from my house.

  • @blues2death U'r probably right... uber cool to have met JB!

  • @blues2death I hear a lot of Eric in Joe's playing as well. It's a big complement to Eric.

  • Comment removed

  • @chreld joe dont even come close to this,,imo

  • I feel stoned (-_-)

  • I feel stoned (-_-)

  • 32 dudes that can't do this ... pff loosers (¬_¬)

  • @martal1989 Can you? ;-)

  • @martal1989 34 now ahahah

  • @martal1989 More like 464,137 that wish they could

  • :D opening tone sounds like barney!

  • Cliffs of dover at 4:50

  • Comment removed

  • Is that "Yesterday" at 1:04?

  • boot !

  • how the fuck he gets this clean tone with a gibson? ._.

  • @rodrigoawilasco cos he's eric johnson

  • @chrispudneyblitz seems legit

  • @rodrigoawilasco I know he has signature DiMarzio humbuckers that he asked for them to make sound like Gretsch filtertrons but they came out like that with some single coil aspects to them. He was blown away. I'm assuming these are what he is using in this guitar.

  • @GuillermoSmyser I heard that too, but this is a Gibson, a gibson comes with humbucker pickups from the factory. Unless he changed the pickups lol

  • @rodrigoawilasco Well, that's the idea. He didn't like what ever humbuckers he had. The DiMarzio page says he put them into his '59 Replica Les Paul (for some reason!). I think that he has them in this SG as well. Most guitars come with factory pickups, but that's what DiMarzio is for: REPLACEMENT pickups.

  • @GuillermoSmyser Which means he uses a pickup that is great for clean sound, because is not as powerful as a humbucker, and has an awesome dirty tone, because it's a little more powerful than a single coil. It's the best of both worlds!

  • @rodrigoawilasco I don't understand what you are saying. Yes, his DiMarzio humbucker is not as powerful as many "normal" humbuckers (including the normal Gibson humbuckers). So his Strats and his Gibsons get great cleans and great dirty tones.

  • @GuillermoSmyser That's it: both clean and dirty rhythms are great.

  • As much as I like Eric on a Strat I like him playing his SG a lot more. SG's just have a more body. Don't get me wrong, I love strats too and I do own both an SG and a strat.... just saying...

  • almost cry at the beggining of every time he playes this beatiful peace of art :')

  • I want this to be playing where i walk

  • Top of the line guitarist always.

  • He really sounds unlike other guitarists, the fuzzface really comes into it's own with the SG though, you can hear the old vintage overdrive! Respect Sir!

  • This is really from 2006?

I'm kind of impressed he was able to find a shirt like that so recently!

  • @tinkdnuos most likely a custom made shirt

  • I prefer him with the Strato...

  • Hey mister johnson playing with a sg!!!

  • seems like an awesome performance but I just can't stand the fact that the video is slightly desynchronized of the audio, it makes me feel so uncomfortable!

  • I love when a genius gets behind the wheel. I am a guitar player myself, but I am not where I want to be. But when God gives us a talent understand that it can be taken away due to drugs and alcohol I thought I had lost mine, but thru much redemption they've come back! So keep it up!

  • probably the worst version of this song i've ever heard.

  • truly inspiring EJ!

  • 1:05 yesterday :)

  • True genius .

  • Eu quero aprende esse solo... Mto da hora

  • Not impressed with the tone of that Gibson over his strat. But as always his playing is stellar!!

  • @mikefred1 shut up and listen

  • The bass player is good too. He's really jamming here, not just playing the same couple of notes over and over, which is unfortuneately is what a lot of bass "players" do.

  • @dreekd80 I don't know... it sounds a bit too busy from me. He's doing too much, and it clashes with the guitarist. If he stuck to the basic bass line at all, and tastefully threw in a few well-timed licks, it'd be much better.

  • I want to have that guitar.

  • @dreekd80 I have that guitar:D

  • @iplayguitar4life I have the Epiphone g400 worn cherry. It kinda looks like it but it aint the same, of course! It's a nice guitar tho'. I used to have a 1968 Gibson SG Custom. It had 3 humbuckers on it with gold hardware, the gold bridge piece like this one... It was a one of a kind for sure...

  • @dreekd80 wow dude nice! how much?

  • @iplayguitar4life the Epi was $250, I got it on eBay and it included a nice Epi hardshell case and shipping. It was a really good deal - I love the way it plays. It's a quality guitar.

The old Gibson SG wa $1000. I bought it in 1994 and had to sell it in 1997, which was a real heartbreaker.

  • @dreekd80 Damn that's good, and yeah that is quite harsh:/

  • @dreekd80 ha- I have an epi sg junior in (don't know what kind of cherry they call it) but it is a lefty, which is what I play and it came to me free. Brand new. No bells, no whistles, who cares? Free is hard to beat!

  • he is a cheater! kick him!

  • to clifs of dover 4:48

  • wow eric, you made me cry

  • @mcartney8 This IS a Gibson SG

  • I didnt notice the symbals..... too incised by Johnsons incredible playing!!

  • he looks like wolowitz XD

  • Gibson SG = The best guitar in my opinion! I feel it does this song the justice it deserves!!

  • @TheLoveGun93 Epiphone Les Paul

  • i would give this video 2 thumbs up hes one hell of a guitar player

  • Excellent ... Simple and Attractive!

  • You can play it?

  • @TheWezel1995 I'm sorry! I did not say that music is simple ... but the video! I do not even compare this guy!

  • if u r a guitarist trust your fingers they will respond this video is testament to that!

  • this man once fingered a lady. she is, to this day, in a shock.

  • If chuck norris played guitar, it would sound like this.

  • great Eric fantastic song !

  • "ac/dc yeah!"

  • lolwut?

  • 1:10 yesterday, the beatles?:)

  • the speed king and this is fucking hard to play on guitar eric plays in some weird modes and i have no idea how he gets that sound because it sounds like the guitars notes are moved up an octave but im not sure all i know is the mans a genius and should be on mtv everyday because id like to see a pop star try to do this

  • SGs Rule!!! Especially Yammy ones like mine!

  • Yes, the greats make mistakes too. For some reason I think he's using a heavier gauge string than he normally does. And that would certainly affect his style of playing. He may be borrowing a guitar from somebody. It sort of looks as if they're going for a '60's theme or something. Maybe the SG added to the look.

  • 9:09-9:15 holy @#?!

  • 6:13 the bigs have mistakes too

  • @jonavanhalen improv.....

  • @powerslider1000 maybe, but i hear a mistake, or at least that was heard, as it doesn't matter he is a great guitarrist

  • @jonavanhalen he covered it up pretty well though. still noticeable though

  • this video is proof that tone comes much more from the amp and setup than the guitar itself

  • @ace88bf But a good guitar does help quite a bit though.

  • @ace88bf just because he's using an SG? :o

  • I've never seen such a good beginning instrumental ruined by such a horrible drummer that actually thinks his incessant cymbal mashing adds ANYTHING to EJ's guitar playing.

  • @SocratesJohnson86 since this is EJ's signature tune, don't you think those fills were his idea vs the drummers?

  • @ClearViewWater hes talking about the intro.. not the actual cliffs of dover if im not mistaken

  • @ClearViewWater Absolutely. Eric is a creator in every sense, nothing passes his will unobserved. Sounds like a lovely stream gurgling in the background of his graceful mastery.

  • @SocratesJohnson86

yeah that is a bit excessive ;D but done right it sounds really good.

  • @SocratesJohnson86 dont hate on his drummer.

  • @SocratesJohnson86 I do!!

4 days ago in New York!!

  • @SocratesJohnson86 when did he mash the cymbals?

  • @Folcation I know it's hard to hear it exactly considering you drown it out because he only stops the cymbal fill for about...half a second. But if you listen closely, you'll realize the drummer is an idiot. While I agree some of the fills are nice, it's not needed for 30-50 seconds straight. It adds nothing and takes away from the piece itself.

  • @SocratesJohnson86 You're a fucking idiot.

  • @SocratesJohnson86 Your kind of a dumbass.

  • @ccroxmysox789 "Your" kind of an idiot that can't grasp basic spelling and grammar. Gosh, you really dominated me with your insult.

  • @SocratesJohnson86 I definitely agree that the constant cymbals are really obnoxious... A light crash here or there would have been one thing, but "CHSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" The WHOLE freaking time is REALLY annoying...

  • @SocratesJohnson86 I would bet money that drummer is doing what he's told.

  • @SocratesJohnson86 Seems if you hear "incessant cymbal mashing", you're only getting the left channel...check your balance! That or you have treble set to11! lol That sounded great to me

  • SG??

    u.u

  • great!!! my favorite instrumental

  • I love sg guitars, but after seeing this I am possesed :) I already have one .... but I am definately saving up for a gibson :P

  • and 1.10

  • @LatekCMR

    Beattles "Yesterday"

  • in 0.10 sounds its a song someone now title?? sory for my eanglish

  • fabulous player fabulous song , it sounds like eric johnson to me, the sounds so processed it could be a synth, and still sound the same, remember leos only stipulation was he didnt pay anymore than a dollar for a strat blank,, nothing to do with so called tone woods, best tone i have ever heard was made from an old fireplace, peter green used a telecaster for albertros , but you would have thought it was a les paul, thats the mark of a great guitar player, thats where the tone comes from,,,,

  • Cool to se him with an SG, but I much prefer the tones he gets out of his strat. It just sound richer more powerful and has that woody quality
