TBF, MTQ1 is and always has been a joke. You have to remember that loads of the people coming into UOTCs have not been in ACF or anything like that and so need to be eased in - to the extent that OTC is, at times, Carry On Army. Despite that, this year's parade was quite a good sight better IMO (Sergeant-Major Ward = absolute legend). Wait until someone posts that and then compare.
I must say, I filmed this thing and the marching really was shabby. It's the simplest thing to do in the army, and HM Forces should sharpen up. Plus, I think the trews should be discarded, and only kilts worn. Yeah they're students, but the Lieutenant at the front is a total alcoholic and still makes it look good.
i done my passing out parade at barry in jan 1980. our drill was shit hot and was filmed for a canadian documentery. years later we paraded for the queens colours parade at stirling castle . and our drill was again perfect. as are the drills of most of the british army. you cant judge the army by some otc's. but thanks for the vid
marching being the simplest thing to do in the army? its clearly not. the 2Lt doesnt make it look good at all and if he is a total alcoholic as you imply then I suggest he does it drunk next time as he made an arse of it whilst sober. If you think the British Army needs to sharpen up as a result of you watching/filming this then you need to join the taliban go to afghanistan and see if you still have the same opinion of them after your first encounter with them.

The OTC is reserve forces aimed for students, the full title is UOTC which stans for Universities Officers Training Corps. I'm a member of the UOTC in the vid there and to be honest all the otc is is a glorified drinking club for people who want to pretend to be soldiers that being the main reason the marching is total wank. for that parade they had maybe a days practise at most so you can't be that harsh on them they're only students after all.
what does OTC represent? A friend of mine who was in the Black Watch told me this story. He was in Germany and the group were getting out of a truck. He jumped and when he got to the ground, his kilt reached the ground first. He was quite embarrassed at the time:)
