Nixon's administration was an enigma. While running as a hard core conservative, many liberal programs began under his administration. Nixon actually seemed to prefer working with conservative Democrats and "Dixiecrats" to working with Republicans. Regardless of one's political beliefs, Nixon was a fascinating person.

Richard Nixon had more positive attributes as a president than most of the rest. He was 'high brow' intelligent, diplomatic, had a superb baratone voice which made his speeches authoratitive and cultured. He was, above all, a human being and acknowledged that in his struggles with the Watergate 'storm in a tea cup.' Next to him, most presidents have looked distinctly average. His library is the 5th most visited of all presidents - and it gets no public funding, unlike all the others!

I think Nixon was a flawed, brilliant, insecure, driven, (did I say brilliant?) structured, paranoid, power hungry, money hungry, success hungry, and mostly, a man who wanted validation from his peers and never got it, which brought out the worst in him.

Overall, it was a good flick; but Nixon was a man who was all but impossible to imitate. Nixon's facial features were extremely difficult to replicate, and his personality was too intense. Sir Anthony Hopkins came about as close as could be done.

Frank Langella appeared as an actor who could play a fictional President, but he did not impress me as one who cold replicate Richard Nixon.

It was a good flick, though.

Where are the original COMPLETE versions of this interview...I used to have one as a favorite and it was deleted. Nixon is not the monochromatic character so unworthy of any kind consideration that these little, carefully-selected clips indicate. In many ways, Nixon was, with all his foul play, a noble man and a better president than our contemporaries. Certainly more intelligent. I'd take Nixon today over 4 Obamas and 4 Bushes and 4 Clintons.

Nixon was an enigma. Even in the "Frost/Nixon" book, Frost had to admit that Nixon's presidency was a very sucessful one and if not for his extremely poor judgement in this episode, he probably would have gone down as one of our best presidents. I myself was very proud, as an American, watching W. Clinton entertain the whole world on T.V. attempting to twist the legal definition of the word "is". Yay America!
