  • Problem is the Maltese/ Jones Daffy is a struggler & not a loser, here it is not as subtle as the past stuff...

  • This was a total mess in terms of comparing the past work of Chuck Jones. It didnt really get to any real plot line other than Daffy being made a fool of the entire time, and that was the introduction. And too many cameos was the main cause of that.

  • "Taz now vegetarian." XD

  • Stupor Duck!!

  • Wow, Chuck Jones got even better at animation with age. :O The story's a bit weak (I don't understand what motivated Foghorn or Superman to be so mad at Daffy...), but it mostly seems to be just a present for the fans of the old shorts and I really appreciate it.

  • Frank Gorshin is surprisingly good at Daffy's voice. Better than he was at Yosemite Sam.

  • @Applemask He also played the Riddler on the 1960s Batman TV Show.

  • I keep waiting for the narrator to break into a chorus of "you're a mean one, mr grinch".

  • idk why but i lilked the duck of yesterday better

  • Well. More superdickery from Superman...

  • This happens to be the last Daffy Duck Cartoon directed by Chuck Jones. Superman got his cameo appearnce around the same time as the Superman Animated Series.

  • Taz: "Duck burger."

    Daffy: "Duck burger? Me?"

  • @BWayans2001 "P-TUH! Raw duck! Taz now vegetarian."

  • Missing characters

Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, Pepe LePew, Speedy Gonzales and Sylvester

  • "I taw I taw a putty duck" tweety says 4:30

  • the duck of yesterday... able to leap the tallest locomotive... faster than a speeding building... faster than a speeding snail... faster than a speeding pullet.. bad narrator..

  • looks more like the original DUCK DODGERS!! OF THE 24th AND A HALF CENTURY!!!!!!!!!

  • R.I.P Chuck Jones.

  • I wonder why Tweety refers to Daffy as a "Puddy duck" what's a puddy duck?

  • kind of wish Daffy &Tweety were paired up in the original series instead of those usless episodes were Daffy was put with speedy

  • There was a lot of development on the film. The story developed over time. These films were being funded to make "cel art" for the galleries. I think at the time, one cel would fetch $500. So Warner Bros. wanted as many different characters in the film as possible. That's why there are so many cameo's. To be honest, I don't know who animated which scene on "Superior Duck". I was mostly involved with pre-production.

  • Lawrence Marvit (uncredited) did a LOT of great inspirational sketches on this particular cartoon... very technical stuff. Bob Givens did a nice job of translating them in the layout drawings. Bob was a Warner's vet from the Golden Age... Drew what is recognized as the first model sheet of Bugs Bunny for the 1940 short "A Wild Hare". He was nearly 80 when he worked on "Superior Duck"... and was so fast... he could really put the pencil lead down!

  • @todpolson Wow, someone who actually worked on this cartoon! I bet you have stories regarding the old timers there.

So, since you worked there, I got a fwe questions...was all of the characters there when Chuck wrote the story? Also, since Tom worked for Chuck back in the 60s, do you know what scenes he animated?

  • Back when I use lived in Northern Virginia I went to WB store in Tysons Corner Mall and I remember seeing this cartoon.

  • they just can't make em' like they used to...

  • Holy shit..Superman sounds A LOT like George Carlin.

  • "Understandez-vous?!" LOL

  • 6:11 Taz 'Duck-burger', Daffy 'Duck-burger? Meee?'

I just looooooooooooove how he says that! And that look on Daffy's face.. priceless! ;D

  • What what WHAT the butt???? Been a die hard WB fan since 1990.. and I never KNEW this short excisted till today! And it doesn't even suck ass... Marvellous! Thanks for posting!!!

  • Well, at least Thurl Ravenscroft got screen credit in one of Chuck Jones' works

  • I like it better when Tweety is voiced by Joe Alaskey.

  • A few of the greatest examples of the spotlight set on Daffy Duck other than Bugs Bunny. Daffy is still tied with Bugs for #1. I have this vid on my Kids' WB Yourself! website, and it's the most popular video.

  • Bugs Bunny Should Have Been Daffy's Sidekick On This One

  • @TeamRocket2010 Yep. Daffy is #1 on top of Bugs Bunny in my favorite cartoon stars list.

  • 2:23 very funny face

  • The only thing I don't care much for in this cartoon is how wrong most of the voices are, Mel Blanc is horrifically missed here...

  • I think they should have just called this short "Duck Dodgers III".

  • This cartoon was allright, but it's just not the same without Mel Blanc and the other classic voice actors.

  • 6:07 - 6:28 - Yay! It's Jim Cummings as Taz! Chuck did good on drawing him in this cartoon.

  • Is "Claude Raynes" an alias for Eric Goldberg?

  • I don't get it. On YouTube I'm discovering a handful of 1990s Warner Brothers cartoons that I never knew existed. Where the heck had these been shown? I never heard of any of them except "Box Office Bunny" (and only because it was on the VHS for "Neverending Story II" and "Carrotblanca" and "Chariots of Fur" because those were actually promoted a bit. But these others? Like this one and "Invasion of the Bunny Snatchers"? Never heard of 'em! Were they in theaters?

  • Yep, Chuck even reused gags from Duck Dodgers.

  • What a sad excuse to sell animation art. I don't know what possessed Chuck to cast Frank Gorshin as Daffy. You think he'd know better.

  • @thekingof8

Maybe it's because Frank Gorshin is well known as a certain infamous supervillian ?

  • even narrators make mistakes

  • I liked the outro at 7:13

  • Wow everyone was in this LOL Even SUPERMAN!!!

  • who the voice of the narrator of this cartoon?

  • Thurl RavenCroft or Tony the Tiger

    Thats Grrrreeaat

  • What are you, a "Total Drama Faggots" fanbrat?!

  • its good but it was made during a period where the Looney Tunes were starting to lose its edge

  • I just don't get why that can't get the edge back! Heck, Family Guy in some ways feels more like the classic Looney Tunes than most on the newer Looney Tunes I see! I mean this in terms of celebrity satire and occasional bouts of intelligent insanity.

  • I agree this cartoon wasn't that great, but the Looney Tunes can have what it takes when done RIGHT

  • @wileyk209zback maybe it's because this was made after Mel Blanc's death

  • @doctorkazoo That's kinda beat up. You're saying Bob Bergen and Jim Cummings are bad at voicing Porky Pig and the Tasmanian Devil? I like these Looney Tunes cartoons of the 90s as well as the original cartoons, cuz when I was born and I first heard the word ''Bugs Bunny'', I was in love with the Looney Tunes.

  • @BWayans2001 I'm saying that if you compare this to the classic Looney Tunes of the 40s and 50s you'll understand how inferior it is in every way! They just don't make them like they used to. I know...I probably sound like I'm 100 years old to you! I DO think it's cool that you appreciate these cartoons though and didn't mean to offend you in any way.

  • @doctorkazoo You didn't. I apoplogize for coming at you the wrong way.

  • @BWayans2001 No worries! We both dig cartoons and that's what counts!

  • I have this on Daffy Duck's Quackbusters as a bonus cartoon

  • I own the VHS and didnt see it on it.

the bonus cartoon i got was the monster dream one

  • I got the 2009 DVD release. It's not on the original VHS release, but on the 2009 DVD.

  • Superior Duck is Superior

  • yes it is.
