Just love this track. For a Zimbo living in the UK listening to this song brings a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes. Brenda will live forever in our hearts and minds.
we miss u MaBrrrrrr!...............wat a great loss..........first u thn Drama Queen-two great talents, both controversial yet talented and an inspiration to all up and coming young divas out there..............R.I.P
Africa is great with awesome talents. Brenda Fassie, obviously, is one of them. Unfortunately, death spares no one. Brenda, you are still alive, though physically gone. Your awesome voice makes you immortal. Please, Brenda, continue to sing wherever you are. Africa misses you.
I once saw the actual video for this ages ago paints a full story without understanding the language 100%,lol.I know amadlozi means ancestral spirit and in the video she's with a witchdoctor..so my guess was she paid a visit to the witchdoctor to communicate with an ancestral spirit!
basically she went to the witch doctor to ask for help because nothing was going right for her, and she was hoping that the spirits could bring her good luck. and she also talks of other people, shes comparing what she has to other people, like.. some are married, some are happy but nothings good for her so maybe the witch doctor could give her some good luck.. thats qwhat the song is saying. i could translate it but direct translation wouldnt make as much sense or sound as errm.. meaningful lol
It means, she is asking for blessings from her ancestors so that everything will go well for her, as everything in her life is upside down, but everyone else is prospering and happy. So she's asking that things work out for her.
Great African Artist!
