  • I'd rather they learn Cygnus X-1 Book II....

  • if dream theater played la villa strangiato i would cum without jacking off

  • great band, great song, terrible cover.

  • @czechRocker39 i like this more than the orgional

  • That middle section was a cluster, and the song is WAYYY to fast. Im a huge DT and RUSH fan. Sometimes I wonder why people waste time doing retakes of covers.

  • Not bad...but can they play "La Villa Strangiato"?

  • @alwrig they already done it in a sound check and it sound good and the best part of it was the petrucci wasn't a the guitar he was at the bass :O lol. It was only a jam for fun but yeah it sound very good back then.

  • @alwrig of curse the can i mean, have you heard them palying???

  • If they put this in Rock band instead of the original Rush version, it'd be so much harder.

  • little bit to fast but hey, it's harder when it's faster right? :P

  • @gangsterthomas1000 some times it's easyer to play faster, no one know when you screw up.

  • this is dream theater only 1985 to 1989

  • dream theater is an awesome band. mike portnoy will be missed at their drummer. any real fan would not be mad at him, nor would they be mad at the band. NOR would they be mad at avenged sevenfold. mike portnoy came to the conclusion himself, and i respect his decision. i would LOVE to see him go back to dt, but he's an amazing musician and should be respected

  • YYZ sucks....

  • Sounds good but better sound quality is required, and of course it is a little bit fast

  • @etnecivga a LITTLE BIT fast ? ...hahahahah ...

  • I swear you can find almost anything on YouTube. I was looking up stuff for Rush about Tom Sawyer on Wikipedia drifted into an article on YYZ, then noticed at the bottom the song had been covered by Dream Theater. Search YouTube and hear we are.

  • DT are the best band that covered to Rush....

  • They were 18 when they recorded this : |

  • RUUUUUUUSH!!

  • el meo bajo

  • el meo bajo

  • el meo bajo

  • ohhhhhhh,....

  • Good cover, but they could've enhanced the audio a little bit...

  • @Richerodt DT demos we're made '85-86 with no budget.

  • u can tell the whole band is uncomfortable with this speed, probably because they are way too comfortable with the disc tempo, they speed up every 3rd beat to the end of the bar to fit with the fast tempo of the metronome making seem frantic and sped up. but still, cool cover.

  • I don't really like it sped up. it sounds frantic and not at all like rush's chill style. Also the drummer fucked up so many parts haha.

  • well consider that this was made back in the mid-80's when they were just young boys :D

  • vERY COOL, thanks for sharing.

  • a good cover but it just sounds too much like a sped up version

  • this is fantastic

  • i love ontario

  • Sounds like DT when they were in highschool, LOL

  • Practicing right before a talent show too lol...

  • ...........

  • It was.

  • they're playing like thre's no tomorow... so fast!!!!! but i like it. DREAM THEATER!!!!!

  • thats the speed of the rush tune too, but it is VERY fast

  • Actually, the Rush version is played at a slightly slower tempo, but not by much.

  • WOW! I really like this.

  • It's very fast!!

John Myung plays awesome the bass here

  • The intro to the song is also Morse code for "YYZ"

  • and there's also a morse in in the name of god: Eat My Ass And Balls xD

  • @caralhotephoda in what part of the song dude?

    I wanna hear that ;D

  • @juanpablo1990mx2

i dont know exactly the minute, but i think it's in wikipedia, just go to the train of thought record

  • Wep, in ontario

  • everyone needs to remember that this was a demo and a cover so you want to show some talent but don't want to imitate the song to muc. nicely done guys

  • I don like it that much, Ive got one cover that I consider it better, and its much faster, but anyway nice song.

Long live to Myung, Portnoy and Petrucci!

  • great cover, they added their own twist to this song :D

you can really feel the bass in the old days of DT

  • You don't really get it that much nowadays huh. Myung's just faded into the background...

  • i think it is a bit rushed (ZING) but then again they made it ther own

  • loool

  • Sounds like they "rushed" it a bit.

  • LOL rushed and fucked it up, mike and muwah :P have no clue abt musicianship....but i guess better than the other cover they did....u cant really imitate rush songs...its very tricky. And like HarryBrandy says: Rush rules, obviously . Correct.

  • Oh snap

  • @guitarguy93 HA HA HA HA HA (sarcastic)

  • @guitarguy93 No pun intended, eh?

  • @guitarguy93

It was "Rushed" up until the last 4 notes!

  • Rush rules, obviously

  • John Myung was influenced by Geddy Lee so you really can't say that. Geddy Lee is one of the best bassists ever btw.

  • you can be better than someone that you're influenced by.

  • I know that, but in terms of legacy and songwriting skills I think Geddy Lee is better. Myung may be better technically (especially when it comes to speed) though.

  • John Myung is probably better than Geddy Lee =P

  • Can you please upload the Red Barchetta cover!? I would be very very much appreciated.

    -Ev

  • wow neither did I!!! that's awesome!

  • I hope Moving Pictures in the next cover album!!! It would be great to hear this in better quality.

  • its faster than orginal

  • There are very few bands than cover Rush songs without pissing a lot of people off... Dream Theater is one of them.

  • fast

  • Has Dream Theater played any other rush songs?

  • Tears and necromancer are the ones I know of but they might have covered some more songs.

  • I have a version of the doing red barchetta. its pretty awesome.

  • Do u hv the link ? thx

  • i only have an mp3.

  • DT doing Red Barchetta...

I would have 10 simultaneous orgasms if saw that.

  • lol

  • @GrayLeader2184 Believe it or not, they have done Red Barchetta and it is fantastic. Had it on a bootleg at one point

  • @TOM2741 they do many, many rush songs. if you look it up you will find lots of covers. They also do gigs dedicated to there influences like rush, metallica, led zeppelin and so on!

  • @TOM2741 Dream theater has played alot of rush songs. just search Dream Theater Rush cover.

  • @TOM2741 also 2112

  • @TOM2741 They also covered Red Barchetta.

  • I think they got yste jam from this song

  • No they got Ytse Jam from their old band name majesty Ytse Jam is Majesty spelt backwards

  • Holy crap I didn't even notice that.

  • oh nice !!!

  • @TOM2741 I think it was definitely a huge inspiration to the Ytse Jam, yes, but I wouldn't say they totally went "Let's make our own YYZ!"

  • @RaidonSama Knowing their love for Rush and instrumentals... i'm pretty sure they did lol :)

  • dream theater?

  • Yes this is dream theater covering this song

  • holy shit very fast

  • thats what she said

  • lol
