The Doobies do belong in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. From what I read one thing holding them up is all the band member changes they have had I really dont understand what that has to do with anything.
@mrclefty1 I agree, I love Lynyrd Skynyrd and they made it in despite all the member changes. Like really people have you seen the recent list of inductees: ABBA Genesis The Hollies Jimmy Cliff The Stooges. Genesis is the only one that belongs there.
Hi, Dave-it's just a "figure of speech", that's all......didn't think it was offensive to use the phrase, "Hell, yes"....I see another person has used the same phrase.
I hope you're not serious about asking me that question :)
@cherylsnyder6969 Well, Cheryl, If you're really a bible-believin' Christian, try lookin' up Ephesians 4:29. The Message version says 'Watch the way you talk. Let nothin' foul or dirty come out of your mouth.' 'Say only what helps, each word a gift.' BTW, I use the word, 'blast' instead of swearin'. God bless, dear sister!
Hi, Dave! You may feel absolutely free to tell me "God Bless" anytime you want! I'm a Christian, and I need to hear that from fellow Christian pals! Peace, Cheryl
@cherylsnyder6969 Well, Cheryl, if you're a Christian, too, why on earth would you use the word 'hell' in sayin' the Doobs belong in the rock hall of fame? Just askin', God bless!
Was this supposed to be a breakout song of the Doobies without Michael McDonald once again?.The main chords are alot like China Grove. The Doobies still had that great harmony. This song reminds me of Summer nights and outdoor concerts for some reason.
Hit #9 in Billboard. Anybody else besides me think that the Doobies are overdue for induction into the Rock Hall of Fame? Be sure to let me know! God bless!
@cherylsnyder6969 I dunno, Cheryl. I'm not really that much into albums, but if 'the doctor's' any indication, then, yeah, I guess it is. Tell me if my sayin' 'God bless!' offends you. Apparently, there are some haters here on youtube that don't like that. Bless you!
@hippojuice23 - I'll put money on it ya still live with mumsy - hows that gig at McDonalds emptying trash? EMO PHILLIPS? - Rosie O'donnell's funnier than him - oh and junior - Coors is for kids - I drink Tequila - hey quick question ass-cracker - Remember your first blowjob? Did you swallow it or just spit it out?
@PeckerwoodSmith I'll put money on it you still raid the Goodwill boxes @ 3 am! Yea, I drink scotch and tequila- straight ya banja-twanging, smelly ol' goof-ball!
this song has me instichs for i foun it amussing for a race horse called ALL MUSIC kicked me in the face broke my jaw and dislocated it(WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE HOSPITAL THIS WAS THE FIRST SONG ON THE RADIO AND IT WAS IF ALL MUSIC WAS THE DOCTOR
I cant believe its been 20 years since this song was released. It was awesome then, and still makes me want to get up and dance. These guys have always been amazing!!
I got the chance to see them back in 1989 at The Deercreek Music Center, just north of Indianapolis,Indiana;while I was on summer vacation.I will never forget it!!
I really dig this song. I love the Doobies and this song is just perfect. Simple in its rhythm and beat, yet straight ahead "good time rock and roll." Makes you roll down the window so everyone can hear...
Back in 8th grade I caught song on the radio while getting ready for school.. I thought, "Man, this is the longest Dr. Pepper comercial I've ever heard in my life!" Then came the guitar solo.. I thought, "Man they are going all out to sell this stuff" lol.
Yes totally agree this band was, and still is, just amazing. Yep this song was released in 1989 and what a lot of people dont know is the amazing talent who have joined this band over the years, They included : Moby Grape from Jefferson Airplane, Bill Payne - Little feet, Jeff Baxter - Steely dan,Willie Weeks - Ex Eric Clapton bassist, Stu Cook - Creedence Clearwater revival & David jenkins - Ex Pablo Cruz Guitarist. To date this band has sold over 26 Million Albums - Rock on Doobies!!!
OK, now I remember it. Another reason I remember cuz, although I graduated from HS in 1986, I was dating a girl who was still in HS but graduated in 1989. We heard this song on the radio and thought it kicked butt. I called the classic rock station I listen to to play it during the lunch hour but the DJ didn't get a chance to play it.
Great Band

Which drummer are you asking about. The one on the left is one of the founding members John Hartman. I think the other one is Michael Hossack.

Best song the Doobies did in a long time. Long before the singing bloodhound Michael McDonald came along anmd ruined a great band.
bigbadredsox 2 years ago 3
The reason the band recruited McDonald in the mid '70's is because Tom Johnson was having health problems.
