  • Dude. Glass of water much?

  • use a mod cd

  • i have console (JP)

I went to help .. how to make a modchip for dream cast

  • Just one thing, I use a boot disc and when I need to go from disc 2 to disc 3, I just open up and switch it out. I don't need to save, turn it off, boot up again, etc. Boot discs work fine, it's just a matter of whether or not you want to use them. Nice video by the way!

  • @zerozander is thear any way to self boot sd loder with no gd rom i ben googleing on a way remove the gd rom from my hand held dc

  • know any places that actually SELL this modchip anymore?

  • why is the swirl orange mine was blue

  • @dnbrhythm I changed the region of that particular system to NTSC-J, which prominently displays an orange swirl at startup! =)

  • @dnbrhythm well without all the confusion. the UK got a blue swirl because a company already had the orange swirl their. so Sega basically said: Ok we will just change the logo to blue. In the U.S and china the swirl was blue. but by modding the dreamcast you can play games that were for-say only released in japan and not the UK or U.S on the UK or U.S consoles

  • Is it true that when you burn games it makes your laser die quicker and loads slower?

  • I need to know if there are still any sellers left of this modchip on the united states. ANyone know?

  • dude where are you from

  • @64ddking

netherlands cuz his tv said kein signal

  • @spiritro06

the language of the TV you are talking of is from Germany and not Dutch from the Netherlands.

  • Do you need the region mod if you install the modchip? If yes, then what is the purpose, or benefits, of the modchip?

  • @silvabullet79 No, you don't, but it's highly recommendable, especially for owners of PAL systems in order to set their systems to NTSC display mode for all games.

  • seriously. Is it really that big of a hassle to use a boot disc. I mean jesus, it takes two seconds

  • Excellent tutorial and series. A few questions

Is there a way to stop the stratching noise when the dreamcast is searching a disc?

Where is the 1/3 part as I haven't been able to find it?

Would you kindly do a completely new vid combining all the mods or redo a new tutorial in regards to adding a VGA box (integrated of course) or composite cable for HD playability?

  • Thanks, part 1 is right here:

    /watch?v=QM2Tkan0RYU

As of now, I haven't planned anything like that, but making a video about an internal VGA mod sounds interesting. I may consider doing it. =)

  • Just one more thing, my cousin he is in Dubai he wanna buy a mod chip, how can he get one, do u recommend any website in Europe, U.S or Japan or anywhere? The one in the link isn't working.

  • Well, the only shop I know of is sintech. hitech. cz/ shop.php (without the spaces, of course^^).

There you can also get a mod chip for the Sega Saturn, the next system I want to mod in my upcoming videos.

  • @Deleterthehedgehog

Dude...fuck a mod chip. You can just burn a boot disc and play backups and region locked games without having to open your DC. DC doesn't need mods. Everything can be done on disc.

  • My Cousin did that now he is happy, thx for that, but for me I prefer modchip, well I have 4 non-chipped and only one chipped, really thx for that...

  • @PKGangsta18 i agree the hardware is good enough to be left untouched. that is why dreamcast can stand the test of time. because of the original boot system you can practically mod it from the outside-in

  • @PKGangsta18 except that that can ruin the disc drive. its much safer and much easier to use a modchip.

  • I changed my Dreamcast region from PAL to U.S . installed a modchip, put a universal power supplier , and also put a clear black shell, thanks to you 5/5

  • Nice, congratulations!

Being able to pop in any game and run it instantly is well worth the effort. =D

  • where can i buy a mod chip for the dc

  • Damn good to know..

  • can we do the same with a nintendo 64?

  • Not exactly the same...

As the region lockout of the N64 is primarily physical (cartridges from different differ slightly), you would have to either modify each cartridge or cut off the two tabs inside the cartridge slot. You can't really influence the 50/60Hz difference though, as it's controlled by the BIOS.

  • I just installed a mod chip in my PAL DC and tried booting my PAL version of shenmue after changing region to american. It doesn't work.. :( I've checked all the connections and they're all good. Have you got any idea what could be wrong? Is the mod chip incompatible with a dreamcast who's region has been changed? The thing is it acts just like normal, nothings broken but the mod chip doesn't do it's job.. :(

    Thanks for the great videos!

  • Never mind, I got it working. Chip works if I have the foreign game in before I turn the DC on. :)

  • Good to hear, enjoy your region free system.^^

    Thanks for watching! =)

  • Hi, there! First off, no, the chip is compatible with the region change, that's why I highly recommend combining both mods the get the best results.

Did you remove the cable from the region mod before you turned the system on with the chip? Leaving the cable can actually fry the chip...

  • oh god! is someone eating another human in the background??

  • Um...no, not really?!

I think that's just your imagination. XD

  • it didn't last to long but was a good one!!!

    DC FTW!

  • awesome

  • nice video.
