  • whatever it is about his music he opens you up inside

  • And btw is it just me, or this theme makes me think of the Roman Empire sending its legions into space?

  • @flyingsayon hahahahahaha good one

  • John's work is woefully under played but his music stands the test of time. And with sampling the music can be brought to the next generation and kept alive. My appreciation of the quality of Mr Barry's talent comes not from the bond movies but from the powerful samples used in Acen's trip to the moon series of 1992.you only live twice samples also used by Robbie Williams in millenium.

  • Probably the best song i've ever heard in a Bond movie. The part from 5:29 to 5:59 is absolutely amazing. I get an unexplainable feeling when i hear it. "Bond Lured Into Pyramids " is another beautiful song from Moonraker.

  • If I ever go into space, this is what I'll have playing on my media player.

  • Probably this is the best music creation of John Barry. In the movie Moonraker, when that music was played in the space seen, there was almost no dialogue for over 5 minutes...there was no need actually, John Barry music was enough to just relax and amaze us of something which i can't still find a word to describe it.

  • Fondly remember John Barry, solid 007, & STS!

  • best part 2:15

  • This score is fantastic. Talk about epic music. Moonraker - pride of place in my Bond DVD collection.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this - for me, it was one of the best elements of the film. Aside from the BEAUTIFUL Lois Chiles, of course.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this piece and the stills. Terrific stuff. Reminds me what a good movie this actually is - despite being just about the cheesiest Bond there is - and oh my god but Lois Chiles is BEAUTIFUL.

  • ACTIVATE LAZER

  • @rickenbackerlawlor EXPEL THEM!

  • This track has a real majesty about it. Something sorely lacking in modern Bond films.

  • R.I.P. SPACE SHUTTLE.

Final touchdown Thursday July 21, 2011.

  • Best Bond movie ever.

  • @WilliamAncich I agree with you, Moonraker was the best Bond film.

  • God had all John Barry's records long before he joined him. Genius.

  • Still don't think Moonraker was bad, I really enjoyed it, great music too :)

  • Lord, return John Barry to us! I beg you!

  • John Barry == Absolute Genius

  • John Barry was my father in music. RIP man. Do miss you...

    Love

    gadboa

  • I remember as a 3 year old getting a pack of Moonraker 'candy' cigarettes during the summer of 1979, there were free cards as well, one of Jaws and a still of Hugo Drax plus one of Moore soaked to the skin in the meeting room chamber beneath the shuttle engines.....wish i still had them lol

  • @tomtcf76 I still have a sticker of Jaws from "Moonraker" tucked in my wallet...and I can't remember how the hell I got it or why I keep it there, but I see no reason to get rid of it.

  • Sometimes I watch nasa tv on the web while I play this, and the ISS ppl look very cool with this soundtrack :-)

  • Brilliant. John Barry will be remembered for a long time. It would be great if we had this class of music with the new JB movies.

    Worthy of Holst.

  • The music is amazing. The film is one of the "less good ones" as I like to call them. No such thing as a bad Bond movie. But the first half is pretty good...and the freefall opening is spectacular...so don't trash this completely!

  • The film in my opinion was one of the fluffiest, goofiest Bond escapades ever. The attentive set work and the beautiful soundtrack, however, were redeeming qualities that made the film that much more worthy. Here's to you, John.

  • Those first 16 seconds will stay with me for the rest of my life, as will the whole soundtrack. This amazing music completeley makes up for the shit-fest of a film that it's featured in.

  • This is one of John Barry's most memorable scores. I remember going to see Moonraker when it was first released in theaters, and to be honest, to this day, I still love this movie. Maybe it's not the best Bond film, but, for me there's a nostalgia factor involved. As a kid I loved Bond and I loved Star Wars, and I saw this as a combination of both. And then there was the soundtrack. John Barry was an absolute genius. May he RIP.

  • Amazing piece of music, one of the best in the entire James Bond series. The movie itself if also amazing and would defend it against its critics.

  • Dispite Moonraker being a rediculous film in my eye, this piece is always my light at the end of the tunnel. If you turned on the television and saw the scene where this music is played, you would think you were watching the lost third Space Odyssey movie... and then Roger reappears and you're like, "Ha!"

  • To John Barry, wherever you are, you just made my hair stand on end again! Magnificent!

  • RIP John Barry. Absolute legend, immortalised through his beautiful music.

  • The films didn't make the music; the music made the films

  • If this was Beethoven or Holst it would be an established classic. RIP John. Your timeless music will be remembered for generations.

  • If there is a heaven...........then this surely is what it must sound like? Utter bliss :)

  • You know i think John Barry could have done an Amazing score for Star Wars- not to take anything away from John William's timeless classics, but I'd have loved to hear this music in Star Wars. It is Awesome stuff, so Grand and deliberate.

I feel so Sorry for those who cannot appreciate Fantastic movie scores. So Sorry.

  • 2.13... amazing!! just close ones eyes and drift!!

  • Moonraker may have been far from the best Bond movie but the music really was among the best John Barry ever made!

The epic music really elevated the movie to levels it otherwise wouldn't have.

  • Beautiful, like Holst. It has a romantic 70's vibe as well, I always hear that in the Empire Strikes Back soundtrack (cloud city) and in Nadia's theme.

Also, have you noticed the chords of the opening "riff" can be found in the Disco version of the theme at the end of the film?

    RIP Mr. Barry

  • RIP Sir

  • Peronally i think Moonraker was the most daring bond movie, making major space sceene in those time was not an easy job but i love it.

  • @TheIcelandicPatriot it's the best bond film, loved it but many hated it,

  • Ennio Morricconne, John Williams and John Barry. Masters of their trade.

  • This soundtrack is my favorite of John Barry.

  • Rest in Peace John Barry

  • RIP John Barry. This is one of my favorite Bond pieces.

  • ahhh my 1st cinema Bond!!!! god this soundtrack is Fantastic.. thanks and RIP John Barry

  • R.I.P. JOHN BARRY.

  • RIP John Barry

  • R.I.P John Barry. Studying your music over the past years has been my honour.

  • Every single song of the James Bond movies is unique. Moonraker - at least for me - was one of the best Bond stories. Late 70s was an excellent period for James Bond Mythos after all. Thank you for uploading this rare piece of acoustical diamond...

  • @PsychotronicWar Totally agree, my all time fav Bond film, The sound track is amazing too

  • John Barry really outdid himself with the score for Moonraker. Personally I think it's one of the absolute best Bond movie scores.

Say what you will about the movie itself, but the music retains its power.

  • I like the part beginning at 1:44, sounds a bit like the twin peaks theme

  • Barry just tells the story so well with music

  • Great soundtrack, this being the best !!

  • Take me one more time round the World James...!

  • nice soundtrack I love this moment feel you inside on thescene

  • You might wanna check out the Black Hole soundtrack - also composed by John Barry, that film came out the same year Moonraker did. There's definitely some similarities!

  • I love my British brothers!!

  • It was so critisized by everyone....but it's still the best Bond film..

  • 2.15 onwards............EPICNESS BEYOND EPICNICITY

  • 4:24 pure bond brilliant

  • I was sad when it ended. Pure genius.

  • 2:12 onward.........dosn't need words

  • the music from Moonraker and especially this epic piece is just unreal. John Barry was just at the very top of his game for this film. The entire soundtrack is just an master at work.

  • Music to listen to next time you are orbiting Earth!

  • @NorseCrusader good idea :)

  • So beautiful and in its own way majestic :)

  • I have to agree. When I was a kid I thought this one sucked, partially because Jaws turned out all nice and the starwars-style laser-battle, but watching it recently, I was surprised how good a movie it really is, and how good the effects with the final gaspods are. There's something more thrilling about a production that uses a big budget for locations and model-based effects instead of cost-cutting CGI.

and the chicks in this one - YUMMY.

  • John Barry = God.

  • NWO plan :) is it? hehe

  • at 1:43 you can see the shadows on the right hand side of two different peoples heads lol

  • I love to listen to this through headphones, laying on my bed at night in total darkness.

  • STS - ROCK ON!!

  • John Barry at his very best. And such an underated Bond movie, just because it was cheesy at the time. Watch it now, it stands head and shoulders above Daniel Craig's far too serious interpretation of Bond, it's a fun ride from start to finish and one of my personal faves. (And the soundtrack gives me chills listening to it..brilliant).

  • @GazzTheFunkadelic Even though Bond was thrown in outer space, I think Moonraker is considerably less cheesy than Die Another Day. I'm glad they stopped the CGI mess right after that, the reboot with Craig gave the series a breath of fresh air, it's not that bad.

  • Godamn I would love to go on an adventure like that

  • @19keel25 or make love in outer space=)

  • Where can you download this music?

  • @mkrsk Music is available over at amazon and itunes.

  • @mkrsk Zamzar.com

  • The poster @ 0:10.... haha !!!

007 has so many talents, getting hip with the chicks, getting out of trouble and err...... breathing in space!!!

    Nice one!!!

  • Very solemn - could almost be a funeral march.

  • At first I hated the far-fetched nature of the plot, like the whole space thing. But now I think it all adds to the entertainment, and Moonraker has become one of my favorite Bond movies. It's like 2001: A Space Odyssey. Perfect space shots combined with perfect soundtracks.

  • I watch the film sometimes just to hear this. Great Bond film though:)

  • The movie is so underrated by Bond fans.

  • @govedata

Not true i've been a bond fan for years and i've always liked this movie, it's actually one of my favs and the first I ever saw!

  • love it !!!!

  • Why does everyone write everything twice?

Why does everyone write everything twice?

    Yes the miniatures are stunning.

  • Brilliant song, brilliant movie, brilliant actors and a brilliant Bond!!!

  • Simply amazing music, just amazing.

  • Simply amazing music, just amazing.

  • Simply amazing music, just amazing.

  • this film had a pretty space age ending

  • this film had a pretty space age ending

  • Probably got one of the best last line in any movie.

  • Probably got one of the best last line in any movie.

  • This score & Derek Meddings model work are superb & the high lights & true stars of this film.

  • Moonraker is one of the weakest Bond films, but Barry pulled out all the stops with his score.

  • @KaitainCPS I prefer that flick than any post-Goldfinger Connery movie (especially that laughable DAF) or than any earlier Moore movie. It's a matter of taste, I always prefered Moore's coolness over that unrefined Connery.

  • i realy like the big and powerfull sound from this soundtrack

  • Fantastic! I never appreciated how good this music actually was until I clicked on this vid.

  • the movement that begins at 4:24 is awesome

  • my favorite track is this one flight into space from this great soundtrack.

  • Can any1 please tell me the name of the music in this video, /watch?v=m5qhwSwvJa0 it starts at about 54 seconds I've been told its from moonraker but I cant find it :-[

  • Superb music by John Barry.

  • as always

  • This song always takes me into another dimension it's brilliant!! this and a few of the other songs from the Moonraker soundtrack! Beautiful

  • the movie was as brilliant as its soundtrack

  • Awesome work by John Barry. Reminscent of the score for the Black Hole when Robert Forster explores the Cygnus.

  • It's very reminscent of that score. A lot of the tracks from the Black Hole do sound like something from Moonraker. Also, both Moonraker and the Black Hole have a Dances with Wolves sound to them as well.

  • Absolutely beautiful. Whenever I think about the moon, this song pops into my head. In my opinion it is definitely the most epic Bond song ever.

  • Thank You Sir : )

  • The best theme song for the best Bond film !

Moore was amazing and Michael Lonsdale, our rench actor of the film is brilliant too

  • James Bond is the BEST !

  • Love this movement totally - top score from a brilliant film

  • best James Bond ever !

  • solennel, grand, emphase et peremptoire!

  • John Barry's great. I especially like the movements at 3:19 and at 4:25

  • There are more space shuttles in this movie than have ever been build in the real world.

  • take a giant leap for mankind drax!

  • super film, super sound!

der film war seiner zeit mindestens 25 jahre vorraus!

  • My favorite part: 1:44. "And the animals went in two by two."

  • 144: "And the animals went in two by two..."

  • 1:20 It was sure nice of Drax to consider protecting the red hair recessive gene in his grand scheme for global human purification.....Thanks Hugo!

Hot Gingers, the world could surely use more rubies among common diamonds.

  • the best part of the piece comes at 4:53. my favorite bond soundtrack by John Barry

  • amazing peice of music

  • Best part of the movie by a country mile.

  • One of those pieces of music that floats around in your head. A liitle like black hole in places but nonetheless an amazing piece.

  • nice one!

  • This music is amazing.
