  • nice vid!

  • love the editing and music choice. this looks like an art project haha. also looks like a very good tank for fire belly newts. it seems no one knows how to properly care for them.

  • since 1993 is quite a nice age, still they have a long time to go :) have two of these myself. got them from my uncle back in 2000, they were 25 years old back then. So they're 36 nowadays. Anyways nice video, tank looks great !

  • What were you feeding it at 1:34?

  • @drkingslend It's a Yellow Mealworm but is not recommended to feed it oftenly...one time every two months...Best Mealworms are recently moulted ones (white color ones).

  • very nice

  • Great video, great newts, great tank setup :D

  • como he dicho antes este video esta bien chingon

  • Very nice!! Nice video and editing, nice soundtrack. Awsome animals and vivarium.

  • where'd u get that thing for hanging mealworms?

  • I have a question, What do you feed your newts most of the time?

  • whoa... dramatic. lol btw what was he eating in the water... mealworms?

  • love the video and love your tank set up, very nice!

  • Shame the land area's a bit sparse.

It'd be really good to see it as rich as the water area which looks like a textbook case : D

My Chinese is over 5 years since bought and she spends 95% of her time under the water.

  • That tank is amazing, i have never seen such a beautiful tank, how much would a set up like that cost around?

  • niice set up and newt. :)

  • this video is awesome

  • hmmm, well i have one in a african cichlid tank, on wich ive had for a good year and a harf and he nor the fish shown any signs of aggresion towards each other.

  • awsome vid

  • i bet they love that habitat!!!

  • How deep should the water be for juvenile Chinese fire belly newts?

He's only about 1.5 inches long, help would be appreciated!

  • es mui guapo el video

  • can newts be put in fish aquariums / their vivariums be connected to aquariums ?

  • my newt is in a aquarium, he likes to chill on top of my sea weed, and I got some styrofoam in the tank for him too

  • yes i have two newts they live in a 10 gallon tank with guppies they eat the guppies though which is fine i have plenty one newt is 20 years old and the other is 18 so id suggest giving them a more natural enviroment

  • @hekma no. better don't do it.

  • @hekma no. better don't do it.

  • @hekma Agree with uploader. Fish will get to food long before the passive and vibration confused newts will. Newts also prefer long tanks, as opposed to deep ones. Put them in a deep tank with fish, and you'll see the results...

  • very nice vid setup and great lookin newts !

  • i have 1 of these hes called "smithy" about 4 years old now around 6 inches tail to chin, i use a fluvel 3 internal filter , clean it every two weeks and he seems happy enought, they are very socialbe creatures will sit on my hand. nice set up in this video.

  • I WANT A NEWT.

  • @canucksfan816 did you get your newt :D

  • Very nice setup, what kind of filtration do you use?

  • @drkingslend I use Air Pump but often i don't use filtration.

  • @drkingslend Yah they really dont make much of a mess. The tank would take weeks before it got cloudy.

  • you don't need a stand for them like turtles, but you abosoulutley need to get them bloodworms as food

  • my newts live in the tank with 50+ guppies and they eat the guppies and have lived 20 and 18 years

  • why wont my newt eat!!

  • Great tank set up!

  • what are you feeding them?

  • looks like mealworms or waxworms

  • Ive had my firebelly newt since 1993.. I was 12 when i got him. I cant believe its still alive. Its outlived every other pet Ive ever owned. Love the vid btw..

  • older then me ????

  • @EekZombies congratulations for your old & wise newts!! really awesome!!! Thanks for comment.

  • @EekZombies WTF?! Did you say 1993? I bought Isabella 2004, and I'm expecting her to "go away" this year. Thought they lived 7 years maximum? I love Firebellies. They interact well. Often I catch them watching me when I'm doing stuff about the house lol!

  • you are inspiring 8D

  • nice where did you get the cage? what type of cage is that?

    nice newts!

  • i had one but it died

  • Well, i bought my little newt, Xmas 2004.

She's very personable, and i often find her watching me as i'm going about my business.

I don't want to tempt fate, but she's already outlasted another one i had by a year.

  • I am getting a Fire-Belly Newt for Christmas! They're such great pets! What do you feed them, because the best food I have to offer is 'waxworms' and chopped up 'nightcrawlers'.

  • I've one Japanese fire bellied newt myself (cant get them round here, only chinese). Mines a much lighter brown tho that looks green underwater.

  • you need a heating pole a heating lamp will pop if water gets on it. a heating pole is the way to go.

    240infamous.

  • age 20?? is this possible, cos my little chinese is at least 4years. you mean 20 YEARS, that CANT be right?

  • that tank's amazing. well kept. got me thinking.

  • I have this newts since 18 months ago, it's a present of a friend who get it 2 years before.

...my newts change the tail coloration when i change the water.....

  • un poco gordos, la verdad.

    english-there are a little fat

  • hey can u tell me r they cold blooded or hot blooded???? they look awesome lol i want in now

  • They are cold blooded. They can be very hardy if kept in the right conditions. I suggest getting the book "Salamanders and Newts" by Frank Iniviglio.

  • I have 3 chinese fire bellied newts and 1 japanese fire bellied Newt in my tank without any heater and they are all pretty healthy enough.

  • wat kind of food does it eat

  • what kind of food does it eat

  • Man! What camera did you use? I want one. How much did it cost?

  • I used a Panasonic Dvx100b, it's a great and cheap camera, i don't know how much it cost in USA...in Barcelona 2600€ 2 years ago.

  • How big do they get and how long do they live?

  • I got a newt i named him fig newten he is a baby i am going to try to make a tank like that. how many do you have

  • - Spartan301abc: Congratulations for your FIG, what newt is ???? Actually i have 7 cynops pyrrhogaster.

  • i'm setting up a very similar tank but having a little trouble dividing the land and the water. it looks like you bought your divider, where did you find it?

  • - Fox843: this tank it's divided for one glass stuck with aquarium silicone because in the right there are a broken, and it's no posible have this tank 100% acuatic ( in the same Cynops you can have the newts only in water (i recomended..)

  • What song is this?

  • I have chinese and japanese newts together and they get along famously other than a little bit of jousting over food here and there.

  • - doctor slough: Xinensis and Japanese are the same genus Cynops, it's not a big problem combination.....

  • plzzz heklp me lol

  • What do baby fire belly newts eat i've had mine for a day and won't eat the little pellet stuff what should i feed them?? They are about 2 inches long.

  • can i mix japanese and chinese newts together in the same aquarium? or how about i mix in other specise like the alpine (blue ones) or the all red ones? anyone reply me back plz b/c i want to get some newts!!!

  • I know someone who kept Cynops Pyrrhogaster (japanese firebelly) and Cynops orientalis (chinese firebelly) together. They had male chinese and japanese in one aquarium and females in the other. Both species get on fine together but if you keep the same sex of iether species together they could breed quite rapidly! Also you could end up with hybrids (interbreeding between species) Hope I've been of some help! :)

  • I don't recomend to mix different species of newts in the same tank...

  • For what reasons would you not recomend this?

  • Toxic variations and newts eats newts smaller than them.

  • I'm not recomended mix diferent newts, because in the same type of newt, it's probably the big exs. dominate with the small newts, and win for the eat, good places,etc..... it's no problem, but when you mix species it's more probably one type of newt, dominate the other type.

There are newts more agressive, it's common are agressive with other newts of the same especies and other (for ex. genus Pachytriton and paramesotriton) or incomodate the other especies only in the breeding season (for...

  • example Notophtalmus viridescens...)

  • love this song!!

    someone mediafire it stat!!

    grrr :D

  • Julian Fane is amazing. People need to use his music in more videos I think. Very good quality BTW.

  • The music is cool :) the Pyrrhogasters are cute.. but orientalis are much pretty

  • nice setup. how much gallons? how long does it take to clean?

  • This acuarium it's 120L volume (100cm.x30cmx40cm).

    The filter cleans water automatically.

  • good recording

  • who made that song????

  • Julian Fane - 'Young Cadet'

  • the best video about amphibeans i've ever seen

  • cool. why are those newts so bumpy. the skin on mine is really smooth

  • because yours is probably a cynops orientalis (chinese fire belly newts) and his are cynops phyrrhogaster (japanese fire belly newt) :)...

  • Awesome Video work! Great Job Great Newts

  • Great video and beautiful tank with the plants and wet/dry areas. What kind of camera did you use?

  • Q guapos els tritons, jo tinc un paramesotriton hokgkongensis i s'assembla molt als teus

  • Muy logrado.

  • Cool video. Wished all videos here had this kind of quality!

If I should win against my lazyness one day, I`ll buy an aquarium and probably Cynops orientalis or C.pyrrhogaster to start this fascinating hobby.

  • very good species to start with..they're low maintenance and hardy.
