  • Stew on good form

Good to hear RB sent up .......

  • Since when have the ANC been against racism?

  • He said "They've been good to us in the past!" in Richard Herring's voice.

  • A bad acid image of his own face has let himself go!!!xXx

  • watching this has made me old ball bag go up my bum. (through hilarity that is)xXx

  • Awesome - can see his wife there in the audience.

  • Did someone on here really say Russell Brand is intelligent and cultured? Unbelievable.

  • @Vennegoor10 Yes, because that's what he is. If you don't agree, you're severely misinformed.

  • @imlan123 No he isn't unless you're a 14 year olg girl who thinks intelligent and cultured is someone doing Captain Jack Sparrow impressions sprinkled with sentences that have zero meaning.

  • @Vennegoor10 Ah, I see what's happened. You've read an interview in which Stewart Lee says Russell has nothing meaningful to say and taken his word for it. You wouldn't have, for example, read his recent Guardian article on the London riots, or watched his speech at Oxford, or even read what he ACTUALLY said in response to the Big Brother racism scandal. No, you've just looked at him, thought "he's a bit odd" and thought he can't be of any merit. He dressed like that before Jack Sparrow, too.

  • @imlan123 I've been aware of Brand since he first presented BBLB, so good try. He's a faux intellectual who thinks uttering large words in sequence makes him sound clever. It does to eejits. I've seen several inteviews by him and even read some of his awful booky wooky. He's an intellectual for our age - i.e. not one.

  • @Vennegoor10 "good try"? I don't see any refuting of anything I've said, just you re-phrasing what you said. His Guardian articles? You're telling me he makes no good points or arguments in them? Bullshit. He's a comedian, meant to make people laugh, and you've only experienced him when he's doing that, not when he's actually being intellectual. Both you and Stewart Lee need to get off your high horses. Judging him for how he looks? Really? Are you a child?

  • @imlan123 How he looks is relevant to his general overall fakeness. Add how he speaks, his faux Hollywood marriage to a bimbette, his serial shagging which of course doens't happen now he's found lurve, and what you have is a pre-packaged dollop of fakeness.

  • @Vennegoor10 Oh fuck off. You don't know anything about his personal life, his relationships or whether or not he's fake. It's the worst form of narcissism to believe that because these people are, in your eyes, less intelligent than you that they can't have meaningful relationships. His girlfriend isn't a bimbette (an irrelevant title), she's a fairly competent musician, and there's no evidence for anything you've just said. Also, a "dollop" wouldn't come packaged. That's like saying a spoonful

  • @imlan123 @Vennegoor10 Alright ladies, calm down!

  • @Vennegoor10 I am the biggest Stewart Lee fan around, but yeah - Russell Brand really is one of the most cultured and intelligent comedians around these days. You realise that in spewing that "BUT HE'S A DISGRACE WITH AN IMMORAL WIFE COS OF HER BOOBS" crap, you're acting in exactly the way your average inadvertently hilarious Daily Mail reader would? You should watch some of his speeches.

  • @yoshting I never mentioned his wife's boobs.

  • @Vennegoor10 Sure but you take my point right?

  • @yoshting Understood it, but don't agree with it. I don't think the Daily Mail is relevant, lots of people thought the Sachsgate thing showed him in a terrible light (although Ross was ten times worse, frankly). I think his persona is completely fake, and if there's any intelligence in there at all, it's buried under a character.

  • @yoshting Nicely put. =)

  • Deny the Holocaust again, this time by txtn ur m8s. This is the best routine he's ever done imo, every bit is solid gold

  • To be fair to Russell Brand, he hates the s*n and came out in support of the victims of the Hillsborough Disaster.

  • Relax children, you can like a comedian without liking everything they say.

It is allowed. There's no rules preventing you from only liking certain aspects of a routine. And if he makes a joke about something that you thought was good (such as a book or a fellow comedian) you can choose to laugh or not. It doesn't mean you then hate said book or comedian. It's just comedy, it's not a manifesto.

  • @fizzb100 Totally agree with you especially since there are people who dislike Stewart Lee because he's pedantic, meant for liberal hipsters, right/left wing shit, etc. They draw these so-called political and cultural reflexions and they forget that it's entertainement (at his best in my opinion). So who's pedantic now by having such a high esteem of comedy? For me it's all about providing a kind of "dead angle" to make laugh at everything with everyone...

  • @Harvesterofmetal And to conclude, of course cynism deals with exageration, especially when it's for comic effect. Every cynic stand up comedian will tell you so. In the US, Bill Hicks, D.Stanhope and G.Carlin, in France, Desproges... When I'm not ok with their sayings, I'm not getting mad like this shit was for real, I just don't laugh. No need to fill nearly 6 pages of comments in this video to do that. It's not about freedom of speech but it's about not being a douche.

  • I want to like Stewart Lee, he is really funny a lot of the time. Very intelligent and an expert performer. However, it is an uncomfortable experience watching him. For all his holier than thou approach, he resorts to the most basic form of bullying, name calling and mocking. His entire act is sneering. His satire is funny when he is does stuff like the carphone warehouse bit but when he starts to attack people personally it's uncomfortable. Genius or smug twat? It's a fine line.

  • Stewart Lee's capable of some truly fantastic and insightful material, but when he has to make stuff up to discredit other comedians I lose faith in him a bit. Russell Brand is a very intelligent and cultured comedian and I find him an odd choice for Lee's attack. It's the academic arrogance that annoys me (belittling adults who enjoy the Harry Potter book etc.). Shame.

  • Really don't like all the snobbery which seems to come out from the fans of Stewart Lee.....I like Russell Brand and Stewart Lee.......Where does that leave me?

It is like those who like Lee exclusively think they hold some high ground and are able to determine what is good comedy and what is bad, i.e. Anything other than Lee=not good.

  • @JoeNumberwang

I agree. Even some of Stewart's own material references the fact that he often "pretends" to be above and superior to anyone. I'm sure he has no malice toward Brand, Howard or McIntyre.

I'm not a fan of Russell Brand, i don't hate him either. If you see some of Stewart's other stuff some people would also think he's anti scottish, anti muslim, anti british and anti life. But it might just be that he's a comedian, often mentioning that he raises such issues for "comedic effect".

  • 7 people prefer Jonathan Ross as a comedian...

  • Hey thanks for uploading the entire show :) I've never watched any of his stuff before so this is my first taste - it's nice to have an entire show to watch. I love British humour and also dry humour, but I'm taking a bit to warm up to him. I'll keep watching though, maybe it'll grow on me. Afterall, a lot of you guys seem to really love his stuff :)

  • "russell brand was contractually obliged, to look meaningfully into the camera, making a serious face, and to condemn racism in the strongest terms possible....whilst dressed as a cartoon pirate" LMFAO

  • vastly intelligent, lee always delivers the comedy goods and ingrains himself into the mind of the listener. masterful stand up comedy.

  • K.D. Lang's let himself go

  • Stewart Lee and Russell Brand have vastly different comedy styles but they're BOTH hilarious.

  • Hey player, we heard you like derp, so we derped diderp derped diderp derp.....?

  • that bit on the carphone warehouse was just fuckin hilarious

  • Lol...he is so cheeky to his audience. Almost reprimanding an area for not being quick enough on the uptake....lol.

  • "Racism, is entirely at odds, with the values, of The Carphone Warehouse"

  • typical oxford student, compares marx with jesus and buddah. lol

  • Russel Brand disliked this video 5 times.

  • Brilliant, just brilliant particularly in the midst of all that laughter when after he read an extract from Martin Luther's I Have a Dream speech, you could hear a pin drop :)

  • Personally I enjoy Stewart Lee's stand up better than the sketches and t.v shows he gets involved in. I think there is too much 'avant garde' social critique that he tries to cram in when he has a chance to think about it. With stand up his natural dry wit and sarcastic delivery really come to fore and he is hilarious without over intellectualising, although there is intellectual content. Stewart Lee's reading of other peoples foolishness is class. I would hire him as a spokesmans anyday!

  • So good to see somebody tear a strip off Russell Brand.

  • Brand on BBLB was very funny, Mtv's DFC he was good to....mad cunt. But he is quickly turning into a fucking joke. He tells bad jokes so much he is slowly turning into one himself.....ironic that.

  • i see 5 of jade goodys grieving relatives watched this. God rest her soul.

    Its only a joke!!!

  • I think chalkarse works for the carphone warehouse , stalker pussy :)

  • "The phenomena of some twats in a place"

  • i quite like russell brands standup ,stewart lee is seriously good and a master of his art ,but brand has his place and isnt as stupid as lee has made him seem

  • @whitebigpolarbear i liked Brand doing bb big mouth and other presenting and think he's on another plane with comedy acting (although he'll have to sell out with bad hollywood vehicles). his standup is really weak though and i am forced to buy his dvd for my mum every xmas and it's one of the things i dread about the impending festive periods. Stewart Lee is the best standup in all my 32 years that i've found. Can anyone suggest other good ones to me please???? 29 characters left...............

  • @moley8791 to be fair ,you wont find much better than lee,for me its quite simply as good as it gets .. paul kitson is great, but its dependent on styles ..i personally like jimmy carr, frankie boyle, rob newman even gervais.....also some u.s is very good with mitch hedburg, demitri martin....all are good

  • @whitebigpolarbear Thanks mate, i'll look up those ones. I saw a really funny guy in the U.S a couple of years ago called Mike Birbiglia

  • @moley8791 also paul foot ,simon munnery, noel fielding ,ross noble and funnily enough i also like russell brand

  • @moley8791 Bill Hicks and George Carlin are in the same vein

  • 5 peoples' ballbags have only gone up their bums.

  • Pure genius

  • The quote he attributed to Russell Brand about Racism was actually entirely fabricated by Stewart Lee, hmself. This bothers me a bit, as he doesn't need to do that. He could have easily made a similar point without making something up to try and make Russell Brand appear stupid. I'm no fan but it's clear that Russell Brand is far from an idiot.

  • @Hogeyz I think he made it quite obvious that that wasn't a real quote?

  • @Hogeyz its a meta discussion,

  • @Hogeyz That's a good point; Stew actually addresses it in the extras for the DVD (you can find it on youtube, he gets quizzed by Johnny Vegas) and in his book 'How I Escaped My Certain Fate', where he says that he probably wouldn't have done it now. However I am more bothered by the fact that Mr. Brand is smart but constantly dumbs himself and his act down to such an extent that people think that he is capable of the sort of dumb comment Stew puts in his mouth.

  • @spekticat

I agree completely. Ruseell is fast becoming everything Stewart hates in modern comedy and it's a shame as he the potential to offer a lot more, certainly more than Frankie Boyle or Russell Howard anyway That's what hollywood does I suppose. I just don't think Stewart needed to fabricate a quote, he could have easily found a stupid qute on racism from anther prominent TV figure than making one up.

  • Revel in books because books can make humanity progress. Lee's awareness of bbc content and his analytical display to it's form is insurmountable.

  • So funny! definately higher than 41st greatest comedians. i was just looking at a list of the top 10 comedians and apparently chris rock and robin williams are in but bill hicks, richard pryor and stewart lee arent good enough, fuckin sacrilege!

  • well done@CardiffWilly

  • Stewart Lee would probably be able to derive some good material on stupid YouTube arguments by coming here.

  • @antonio610 Agreed. I watched this hilarious clip, come down here to the comments expecting some like minded people to share a laugh with and what do I find?

    Well, I need not explain.

  • The values of the carphone warehouse - of which there are none haha. Too many funny parts, love the entire thing, thanks for posting.

  • Russell Brand was contractually obliged to look meaningfully into the camera, makin a serious face & to condemn racism in the strongest terms possible...whilst dressed as a cartoon pirate

  • Comedy Genius for the thinking man, Alan Carr are you listening?

  • i fucking hate the carphone wharehouse not only do they not sell carphones but they definetley dont have a fucking wharehouse full off them the lying robbing cunts

  • @cardiffwilly It's apparent that you don't really understand comedy in all it's forms.

  • @cardiffwilly Is this comment a cleverly constructed imitation of an imbecile for comedy effect?

  • @Damn6Deal6Done6 your the one thats a cleverly constructed imbecile for watchin this shit!

  • @cardiffwilly No, you are.

  • @cardiffwilly I've read a few dumb posts before but that drivel you wrote is impressive.

"Nothing he talking about happen to me. Ever." - Which comedians make specific jokes about the life and times of Cardiffwilly? Why would anyone want to hear about that?

No doubt someone has made a joke about McDonalds workers, is that what you mean?

" Id love to ve on BB and I bet this guy wud 2. He looks like he needs the munny, lol." - You truely must be a laughable idiot.

  • @Robbingtonfish what hav u got agenst people who werk in macdonnalds? they welcomd me with open arms wen all the other restraunts turnd me down!!! i wanna comedian who talks bout things like gettin stuck on a busy train or family weddins looooool!

ps i think its spellt "truly".

  • @cardiffwilly You are taking the piss out of my spelling?!?

hav, u, agenst, werk, welcomd, wen, restraunts, turnd, bout, gettin, weddins, spellt. Forgetting the pathetic grammar and punctuation, this is still a abhorrent level of illiteracy. If you are looking for fart jokes or knock knock jokes look elsewhere, there are plenty of comedians who cater for that particular brand of low brow, mindless rubbish.

You 'truly' are a gimp of the highest order.

  • @Robbingtonfish what hav u got agenst high order gimps? i hav made loads of frends since i became a gimp, an it helpt me throo loads of difficult isssues!

    ps its "an abhorrent".

  • @cardiffwilly Well Cardiffwilly, you really got me there. I expect I wont be able to sleep tonight after you pointed out that fatal gramtical blunder.

I think you are only looking to get a rise out of me, and in truth are not as thick as you make out and are as bored as me,(hense why I bothered to reply) but I am wasting my hangover time away.. I wonder what your excuse is....

  • @Robbingtonfish Don't waste your time in anger on a boredom patroller. What excuse could you possibly have to be angry online?

  • @owenhunt I'm not angry, never was. As I said, just hungover yesterday and was looking to waste some time, if anything it worked out perfectly... Watched some Stewart Lee and laughed at the childishness of cardiffwilly.

  • @Robbingtonfish *hence

  • @cardiffwilly *potato

  • @Robbingtonfish I think the bit Lee does about observational comedy will explain your point to cardiffwilly better. If he understands it, that is.

  • @cardiffwilly you're clearly stupid.

  • @cardiffwilly what a complete moron

  • brilliant, thanks for uploading this gem.

  • This has got to be one of the Funniest and original stand-up routines of modern times;and i say this purely because the Big Brother race scandal was something that got SO MUCH out of hand in Britain.

This routine is pure pathos and truth;and Stewart Lee is a truly orignal comedian.

  • ENTIRELY at odds...

this isnt a comedy set, its a work of art.

  • killed brand there.

  • HAHAHA very good.

  • Russell Brand - What a twat.

  • I'm going to start living my life by the values of the Car Phone Warehouse.

  • Well funny.

  • In a sense it's true what the Carphone Warehouse says - as Stew points out, their only value is the profit motive.

But racism hurts profits - if a section of society is pissed off with you, then it won't buy your products. Or if you disregard that group you lose out on sales. So racism really is at odds with pure capitalism.

  • The way he pauses between "values" and "Carphone Warehouse" makes it for me. Sublime.

  • @Truimphful Stop making racist comments and start living your life by the values of the Carphone Warehouse

  • a child molester who is trying to convince himself, to allow himself, to molest himself.

  • lol. russell brand is a twat

  • The man is brilliant. Best comedian alive.

  • It's the way the changes the intonation in his voice at 8:40, on the word "bum" that just sets it off. Perfect!

  • this is really good

  • They should put that in the TV guide: 21.00 - 23.00 Cha4, Big Brother: Some Twats in a Place

  • In 40 years they'll be quoting Russell Brand just like they quote Martin Luther King today

  • no.

  • I love both Russell Brand and Stewart Lee. It is possible.

  • @dnbot1 Possible but depressing to read after you could like both after watching the clip.

  • Same here.

  • It takes a lot for me to cry with laughter. But the end of this sketch I couldnt contain myself.

  • failed attempt at sarcasm? this is hilarious.

i'm guessing those who do not like this enjoy russel Brand's high brow comedy instead?

  • @theoctupuswillscore In a fair world, Stewart Lee is the one who gets to do Katy Perry.

  • @antonio610 In a fair world, its me who gets to do Katy Perry

  • @theoctupuswillscore Does it make me conflicted if I like both? D:

  • @theoctupuswillscore

Yeah that pseudo-intellectual toss really grinds my gears, i also hate Russell Howard's "Tell a joke then do a juvenile impression of the subject of said joke for 3 minutes" bullshit!

Here's a Youtube video of a funny looking spider "Nurrr... look at me i'm a funny spider with a speech impediment... nurrrr!!!"

    What a cunt.

What is it with the name Russell?

  • @seansalvador1 shut the fuck up millions and millions of people love him and just because you don't like him doesn't mean he's not funny.

  • @MrXtracheese1997

Yes i know, that's why i gave my personal opinion instead of making an objective statement.

  • The whole sketch about Big Brother is in my humple opinion one of the funniest things Stewart Lee has ever done.

  • That's your opinion, obviously. Are you under the impression Stuart Lee thinks Big Brother is amazing?

  • Ha ha - Big Brother: "Some twats in a place".

  • That was fucking great! Corporate Bullshit exposed ^_^

  • Then I suggest you seek to acquire a sense of humour; that will help.

  • well you have no soul then

  • @jaipalbains1988 Look in the mirror.

  • I haven't laughed liek that in years!

  • saw him in Montreal at the Comedy Fest and he is brilliant.

  • Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!

I follow the values of the Car Phone Warehouse.

  • Best stand up comedian ever in my humble opinion.

  • hell yes

  • I agree!!

  • The phenomena of some twats in a place.

  • this is fast becoming my favorite line. the delivery is perfect.

  • @iddiols1 haha, me too! It's the perfect use of the word 'place' that does it for me :)

  • @iddiols1 I think Robert Webb used that line on Jonathan Ross' show.

  • I genuinely collapsed to the floor at 7:54! Exceptional material and immaculate timing.

  • brilliant

  • A child molester, who is trying to convince himself, to let himself, to molest himself!

  • Russell Brand didn't actually say any of that, but I bet he wishes he had.

  • brilliant

  • mug

  • brilliant

  • the doll? Is that anything like the dole?

  • Don't forget. The Carphone warehouse also sell boardband. ;)

That Brand joke was simply amazing.

  • And when Russell Brand saw racism in his place of work, he said... "oooooh!"

  • comic genius

  • "Bad racism"

    Love it.

  • Anyone who likes this, I can thoroughly recommend the DVD. Bloody ace

  • It's quite sad that you know that

  • I believe the joke is that Carphone elected to sponsor BB despite the prior knowledge of all its other content that may or may not go against the "values of Carphone", and their sudden rediscovery of those values when it was most advantageous to improve their profile.

I worked for CPW at the time, and the email distributed around the entire company was yet another example of bollocks from Chucky Dunstone.

  • or you could look in the related section and see that video of them explaining -.-

  • He said it was a missed opportunity for product placement, therefore he knew that already. Oh well.

  • genius,

  • Hang on, you're saying that Russell Brand didn't say that? Oh my god I've been deluding myself into thinking that a funny line in a stand-up comedy show was actually fact rather than being part of a routine. The world must be told.

  • i think it was the funniest, but if it was not true then it loses a lot of its impact

  • The way he explains himself is a joke. He obviously knew it wasn't what he said, he was exaggerating for comedic effect. That's what they do. Russell Brand fanboy much?

  • "What a missed opportunity for product-placement."

    Bwahahahaha.

  • 90s Comedien is even funnier... or maybe I just like vomit talk (involving Jesus) more than the precisly honed excellance that 41st is... I guess it's a matter of taste...

Did I spell any of those words right?

  • aweome.

  • Stewart Lee is brilliant, Not seen his stuff for a while until this, Cheers.

  • there's more, i'll have it up soon.

  • nice one iddiols, been waiting for sum new stuff. good drills
